Nicely done Chief, good to see you back. When you do some demos use the Monoprice 5W amp to compare with the 15W. Maybe hookup a reverb pedal to the 5W vs the reverb on the 15W. For us mere mortals the 5W is plenty powerful, even turning it down to 1W is fine for home use. Maybe demo your pedals. Nice to see ya’ back and as always “ keep ‘em comin’!”😊

Thanks for watching and commenting mjvicc1952…appreciate it. In the past, I have done video on both the 5W and 15W amps with some comparisons. Perhaps I can do some more…yes, the 5W is plenty of amp. When using either of them in the studio, I normally keep them on the 1w setting. I have also done some pedal demo’s in the past…I get a bit bored “twisting” knobs and talking about them…😎

That's a real beauty, Jimmy. I had the version in emerald green. Wanted to love it *so* bad - looked gorgeous (it was my go-to St. Paddy's Day guitar...lol), played great, but alas the fretboard cracked on me after about 8-10 months. I do live in a pretty dry climate - but do use case humidifiers (and keep guitars in their cases when not being played). I have to think it was a defective fretboard. I recall noticing unusually wide pores when I unboxed it, and a couple of those eventually just opened up. Probably should have exchanged it for another at the time. Anyway, they claimed the fretboard was jatoba, but it looked nothing like yours. Very light, very chalky. I get that wood can dry out, but I doubt *that* should happen... Have you had any experiences like that with IYV/jatoba? Sweet playing and incredible high-value content as always, man!

Hi cdavidlake2…thanks so much for watching and commenting. I also have the ILS-300 in emerald green…have not had any issues with the Jatoba fretboards on any of my IYV guitars. So sorry to hear of yours…I do usually condition them shortly after receiving them as the fretboards can and do get dry from shipments and storage. The majority of my guitars stay out in the studio either hanging or in racks…no cases for most with no issues (though I do keep the studio humidity monitored) Thanks again for stopping in to the channel and the kind comments. So glad you enjoyed! 🎸👍

Jimmy I love that guitar, except for the relic. It sounds great and your playing is awesome as usual. I'm going to have to go back and rewatch the Mr Green Jeans video and compare the two. I'm not in any rush to buy one right now. I have a couple of LP style guitars, an Epiphone and Gretsch. LP style are good to have, but not my favorite. Tele and Strat styles are my go to.

Surprisingly, you can get a lot of guitar these days for a lot less! The “herd” has certainly increased since starting this channel back in 2019 however…truly appreciate your stopping in! “Almost LP” is a good term for them. 😁 Some other “Almost LPs” I’ve seen include ones from EART, Latitude, and ESP/LTD, which all use either lighter woods like Okume or thinner bodies to reduce the weight.

Did you say 7lbs 3oz? That's definitely bearable! I saw from The Bald Shredder that one can order your very own customized guitar from IYV. I am thinking of doing that in July so it has the 8 week lead time to make it and then another 2 to 4 weeks to ship. I'm lusting after a LP gold top with P90s. Yup. GAS is a terrible thing! @@JimmyStewart1 I suspect IYV ships normal production models faster than custom-ordered ones though. I just saw The Bald Shredder’s video about IYV custom orders, too. He’s apparently doing an experiment with ordering one, which he’s still waiting on.

Very nice demo, and that thing sounds really good. What was the backing track you used for the jam? Way cool…

This IYV is a surprisingly nice LP copy and plays/feels/sounds much nicer than the price would would lead you to believe (as the majority of my IYV guitars have proven to have been). I can’t recall what I did for backing on the jam section without going back to listen, but the vast majority are just things I put together using my Roland Boss RC-5 Loop Station. Truly appreciate your stopping into the channel…much thanks!! 🎸👍

Basswood is good,. one of the best sounding guitars i ever owned was a squier vintage modified telecaster with a basswood body and seymour duncan designed pickups.

WOW!!!! I was NOT expecting you to get this one, either! So it is a basswood sandwich!!!!! I’m sure some LP purists out there will scoff at IYV’s wood choices here, but I like the fact that it is so lightweight-that alone must make it a lot more comfortable to play than a real LP. I’m also not a fan of relics, although this one is pretty lightly relic’d. Kind of an odd choice to relic the pickups but not the other hardware though. I totally understand why you got it-compared to Emerald Green, this one looks closer to a traditional LP kind of color, and that matte finish can be rather attractive in terms of the feel of the guitar, especially on the neck, compared to a gloss finish. That sculpted neck heel looks really nice for high fret access, too. Yours is the second review I’ve seen of this guitar… I’m still on the fence about it! Does it sound better than the green one? The review I saw on Fulton Street Beats indicated this one sounds significantly better than the old green one. I would’ve thought they were all the same, apart from finish and the update to the neck heel. Too bad Amazon doesn’t have stock of the IP-340 they have listed, or the 300 PGM listed on IYV’s website-those ones both look even nicer and non-relic’d! Still, I suppose it might be fun to try to de-relic this one too, for those that have the talent. 😂

@@JimmyStewart1 BTW, FSB also confirmed by sanding the neck down that it is a MAPLE neck on this one, not mahogany… So it probably won’t please hardcore Gibson fans, but OTOH, that neck is probably heavier, sturdier, and less likely to break at the headstock than a real LP. It might also affect the balance of the guitar, but then I believe real LPs tend to be bottom-heavy, so maybe this makes it balance BETTER.

@@zuperdee Balance felt quite good. Neck feels great…you know…it’s certainly NOT a Gibson but still more guitar than the price point would lead you to believe. Fun guitar that I may actually do a couple mods to.

Yea,I purchased a red firefly 338 for 120.00dollars shipped. I play left handed guitar. I'm 65years old. That's just the way I learned. My left hand can't fret due to nerve damage. It always felt so natural to play lefty. Fortunately iyv produce leftys . That have a big selection. Do you have both models of the iyv es175 single cutaway. I like the more rounded than pointy. Hi Cliff…thanks for watching and commenting. I have two of the Monoprice Tele Retro’s…I don’t have a Tele DLX from Monoprice. I do however, have their DLX Cali (Strat) and I honestly prefer the standard necks of the Cali and the Retro as they are a “satin” finish and feel better in hand then the poly finish on the DLX (at least for me). It’s one of the “selling” points on their “basic” models that I do like. Very nice necks on very inexpensive guitars…appreciate your stopping in! 🎸👍

Hi Scott…thanks so much for watching and commenting. As with most “budget” guitars, you can expect a few minor finish flaws and perhaps some adjustments and a setup. I have quite a few IYV models and I have found that they have been pretty consistently good right out of the box. Stock pickups have also been some of the better pups for a budget brand as well. I have a few Jazzmaster style guitars, and other offsets so never went for their jazzmaster model, but I do have their Jazzmaster Acoustisonic style, which again is a nice instrument. Truly appreciate your stopping in to the channel and sharing. Much thanks…🎸👍

the vast amount of money I've wasted on Gibsons over the years , never actually fully bonded with or properly liked any of them, always a big prob - too heavy, impossible tune properly, weird neck - I'm now Gibbo free and enjoying messing with great cheapies - my £150 used squier Tele has won my heart much more than my old LP standard ever did - great video , thanks

on the "b" roll i was sayin "get off the neck fatboy" hahaha!!! man you talk about "love at 1st sight"! sweet cherryburst im thinkin! around the "heel/body" looks verry similar to "vintage the brand" and "harley benton" lp clones....even has that "voloot" thing on the back of the headstock for re-inforcement! i think this is IYV "greeny-moore" look "indirectly" lol! if it was honeyburst it would be really close! hardly anything needed to make it a convincing "greeny-moore" tribute for less than 200bux! not 50k.....or 20k.....or 3200bux like the G brand! or even 800bux for "vintage the brand" version! the wheels are turnin in my mind now brother....looking at a few i can turn loose...maybe a guitar/amp combo for a qwik 200 or so.....i HAVE to get one of these now!

🤣🤣 Glad you enjoy the films. Mary and I, along with the rest of Bedford Falls appreciates it! The smaller 5W Monoprice is a little beast in its own right. Easier to move around if needed…studio use…can take pedals well…great for harp or keys, also creates a good little “stereo rig” in combination with the 15…along as a backup in the studio. You realize…it’s all about the slippers…right? 😎
