I have been crowding my edible trees as Jay suggests so I have created my own micro climate in the backyard. My trees seem to happy, so thank you, Jay!

We are having 121F with 4% humidity here in my corner of AZ. The car A/C is broken and the windows do not work but it has a sun roof!!! LOL The house A/C is also broken. No cold water in the house taps, just hot. Hose water at midnight has cooled to about a nice root cooking and hand burning temp. This stinks!!

P.s. all my plant babies have new growth everywhere 😊 thought it was all the love I was giving, lol...good to know, its nature and they should be putting on growth in this heat. 🌳🌴

You fertilize in May, which feeds them all summer. I use compost, so the tree absorbs food when IT wants to, instead of when YOU want it too

Fact is in your region it is very hot. I live in the southern part of Germany and we do not have palm trees on the streets. You get them only in Italy.

My backyard gets full sun all day in Central Texas. I water everyday but afternoon shade is what I need to do? I have most all along the fence.

Hi someone from north tx here, you want to place them along the west side of your fence, you can tweak the setup (few inches from the fence, a foot, a foot in a half) as the sun rises and find where they should be so that shade starts coming in at ~2-3pm as the sun rises in the east they'll get full sun, and as it sets in the west they'll be fully protected, if they're still struggling might need more water alternative would be getting a 30% shade roll, they're around $10-$20 at home depot but you can put them wherever you want risk-free!

im growing small mango saplings in pots in texas. when i watch all the videos from people in florida saying you need to spray copper like every 2 weeks & stuff. since im in an area thats a lot less humid...should i bother spraying anything for fungus or bacteria, etc? i hear some people say to use a 0-0-22 fertilizer for them, but since mine are in pots... i would think i need some nitrogen & phosphorus?

my citrus trees have come down with leaf miners. I started off just plucking out the leaves when it was 1 or 2 but now it's getting out of control. what would you recommend to take care of the infestation?

different plants around will often encourage a good ecosysytem. Try more water and food. pests attack a weak underfed underwatered tree

I believe the stuff in pots are what he has for sale, and many of his trees are planted in ground.

@@ArizonaFruitTrees I had hoped so! Outside layer is wind resistant. But, all most all of the citrus blooms burned off in the wind. Lost all the cherries, too. You're a good teacher.

misters are only good for tropicals and would cause an environment with too many fungal problems like powdery mildew

if the plants look good, you are watering enough. then stick to that watering schedule

Black pots are completely dumb and should only be used in the North Pole. Manufacturers need to make white or lighter colored pots so the roots don't get cooked in Summer.

We have tried both. Black pots keep the roots dark. Which out weighs any benefit of a few degrees cooler. sounds counter intuitive. i know

@@ArizonaFruitTreesLight doesn't penetrate soil. If light got through the pot it would be irrelevant to the roots in the soil and might even help prune them when they hit the pot wall. It's not good to have roots growing along the pots walls causing root binding, and it's actually greatly beneficial to potted plants to take a long knife and run it around the inside of the pot around the edge to sever any root bound roots growing along the walls. I'm in Utah and Black pots sitting in full summer sun get super hot, like 130-150 degress or more and cook the soil and roots. I'm guessing that because your plants are so densly planted together, they are shading each others pots from the sun. Otherwise I don't see how plants would survive in Arizona in black pots in 120 deg heat.

@@nateross14 they are shaded for the most part at my place. But everywhere else here, they just rock them in full sun, and keep them so wet, they never have a chance to get hot. Nurseries here are almost 100 percent on flood irrigation or wells. They flood them. They literally sit in 4 inches of water, The other nurseries her sell native plants, and of course they can take 400 degrees naturally

any temperature over 90-95 you should go out and atleast check how the soil feels a couple inches down, at temps of 100-110 almost certainly daily or even twice daily Water in the early morning (...like, 4:30-5:00 if youre up) or late evening to make your waterings count If your plants aren't noticeably faster in growth right now, you need water!
