"ITR" Type R B18C Swap In My 2000 EM1 Civic SI
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
My first "tuner car" was this 2000 Civic Si. The plan was to someday swap the B16A2 with a JDM B18. I asked John from LHT Performance to find me the lowest mileage B18 he could, rebuild it using super high quality, reliable parts, and do the swap as if it were factory done. The result is pretty amazing.

Little Honda bros unite! Our dreams have been fulfilled!!!
the meticulous attention to detail is beyond comprehension this build has taken OEM + to another level
Some say Honda boys and girls melted with celestial joy and have had a religious experience at some point in this video

Beautiful EM1 you did this car justice. I do like the B18C choice for a swap over the K series. I also enjoy the sound of a Vtec B series over the K. The sound is more RAW sounding and the K has a Mechanical sound? That’s the best way I could describe it.
Thats quite the jdm space
John from LHT is the true Honda expert with many amazing Honda builds. I hear he's the guy from a few tuning magazines. Obsessed garage is the most chillest person alive lol
LHT's John and George are the best in anything Honda; as well as many other cars they've built in the past.

They could make a nice living just doing custom turbo manifolds, intakes, headers and exhaust. Every time they say their building custom piping for a car it turns out like a work of art. But always performs as good as it looks.
If my b16 ever blows up im definitely pulling the trigger on a jdm itr swap. Im getting ready to put my jdm gsr in a 95 civic 4dr. #save the B series.
See ya'll in 1 hour and 20 minutes
Everyone is doing K swaps now days. The fact that this car got a B swap instead of a K swap makes it even more special! Dang it i want this car so friggin bad! haha

@@mikea5205 If I were you, I would pay the $5000 to have a shop put the car back to 100% stock, get $20K at least for a 25,000 Original Em1, the have a JDM B18C(which goes for $6K+ alone with the trans), sell the 4 sets of rims(youll get like $10,000 for those rims no problem), and obviously part out the Stereo equipment. You could probably get a total of $50-60K if you do it right.

@@JonHop1 - no way that's way too much work. All the wheels and original B16, everything...$75K firm. Or bring a trailer no reserve auction but I might get hosed on the final price. I don't know let me win it first haha. I hope one us wins it! Edit: forgot to mention that I would really hate unravel all the work put into this car. It looks so pretty as is.

@@mikea5205 No one would ever pay $75K for that car man... I cant even sell a $50,000 RSX Type S with 40K on the dash making 400whp for 15K.. And this car literally has 40K in it of the best, most expensive parts you can buy.. You would be waiting a very long time to find a rich person willing to pay $75K for a civic thats making 200hp.
This car is becoming more and more of a dream. It was enough to have a si blue stock beauty. Now to throw a type R engine in it. Amazing
You know Matt love your Porsches, your M3 etc but this little Civic is special and certainly my fav of all the cars you have done, it’s your creation, 1 of 1. It’s also pretty nostalgic for me having owned multiple Hondas and Type-R’s but what I love is A: the attention to detail and B: not going overboard, OEM+. I miss that induction note to this day, reminiscing about my old ITR missing Hondas in my life, boy I love their engineering. I need to find my way back into one cause this series has hit me in the feels. Excellent work to you and LHT, shame it’s going but I hope it goes to someone who’ll appreciate this little gem. Cheers 👍🏼
One of the best builds on YT. Such a relaxing and cool experience.
Incredible build. Before the 8th gen this was what I wanted for many years. Unfortunately i don’t have the nest luck when it comes to “winning” so I won’t even give it a chance, don’t need the let down. Who knows. Regardless, impressive to say the least! And also it was great seeing 2 of my subscribed channels merged for unbelievable content. Thank you for this. Thank you both
There’s definitely a bolt spinning down by the alternator when he says “alternator belt is loose still” at 38:49. Also, the power steering fluid reservoir is jumping up and down at 45:54...
Been following your channel for a few years Matt. I used to play games like Gran Turismo back around 1998 just to build all the Honda’s to the specs I always wanted in real life. I jokingly tell my wife about you and I say this man is playing Gran Turismo in real life! Never stop with the content creation. Your sometimes brutally honest but never fake. It’s refreshing and rare.

Also, once the civic is gone. I sure hope you do a similar project with a 1st gen NSX. I believe if you did all this work to the true Honda “supercar” you wouldn’t give it away.
This is an awesome built Matt and you couldn't choose a better person to do it! John is so attentive to every detail that is amazing! LHT Team did an outstanding job!
Great build, bringing back memories. I did a few B18B build ups. Never seen spoon wires before I always used NGK wires and plugs.
This has been my dream car, I love everything you've done to her ❤ I look forward to every video you put out on the SI. When I watched the video of you driving it, i was smiling ear to ear. I miss my EX and know exactly how fun it can be to drive a nice civic.
Gotta love no smoke coming out of that 20 year old Honda tail pipe.
Thats the exact combo of car/engine that i race in edurance racing! We do 16h races and it never breaks can even do a full season no prob! They are so fun to drive!
Just sold mines with type r swap for 15k cash had it for 5 years car was clean ac and power steering worked perfect never let me down
Informative, detailed, smooth transitions; great content as always.
My two favorite people with my two favorite builds. Love seeing you two work together and especially this project because my first ride was also an EM1. I want to find one again and do the same build as my daily and keep my S2 for my queen.
My goodness...I don’t even know what to say except that it looks and sounds so good, and I want it haha.
Hands down the highest level of professionalism! The intake whoa hot fire🤘
The Honda bros been waiting 🔥
I love that LHT went to the effort to do back to back testing on the spoon ignition leads. Such wholesome content. Thank you.
I could watch this video 100 times over! Damn Matt this is my childhood dream! Awesome awesome build
the details and effort he puts in the build is mindblowing, my ocd approves👌
Wow what a Great video! Thanks for all this content of the civic si!! Very very Great info and troubleshooting, testing, comparison’s!! The dyno, the installs the talking everything pretty cool thanks!
I remember you talking about this on Tommy's channel a while back. It's a piece of art for sure great work man.
Man that dude John with LHT does some amazing work. Check out his k20 turbo build in a white ek hatch🔥
At 44:45 he talks about the JDM oil dipstick with the heat shield. You can get the exact same dipstick if you order a 1997-2001 Honda CRV dipstick. I used one for my 2000 Acura Integra GSR when I installed the Greddy Turbo kit.
I WANT THIS CAR!!! Beautiful, absolutely beautiful!
I hope whoever wins this appreciates it and doesn't just abuse it and beat it into the dirt...

This guy is bad ass !!! Truly passionate bout Honda’s I can sit listen to him all day bout building engines
Bro your guys's stuff is awesome very very knowledgeable. I have a 99 Civic SI and I've been watching your channel just to get ideas of what I can do looks just like the blue one that your buddy owns
Fantastic build! The attention to detail makes my OCD happy!
Impressive workmanship!! Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and experience very much appreciated!!
this build is awesome. i really like the sound of the exhaust.
I did the same thing to my EM1, I put in a b18c5 and it was probably the best choice of my life. Was thinking about starting up videos all about the car also but didn't know how it would end up doing.
Hey Matt, that was awesome if the Honda Bro’s are still upset after watching this video then there’s just no reaching them. You were respectful to the cars reputation and your younger man’s dreams well done.
*I'm still butt hurt I didn't win this car. One of the most beautiful civic ever. I want it so bad I'm replicating one*
Awesome! impatient to heard and see the matt's reving road test
Great decision to go with LHT. Been watching them for a long while now. Hopefully one day I'll send them an s2000 to get it supercharged.
Loving the Civic build! reminds me of my teenage years. I'd love to have this.
John is a really great presenter, very natural on camera. Would be great to watch him work on a new Type R.
I was just wondering about this project. awesome timing
Always wondered about the spoon spark plug wires, thanks for clarifying
That's what I was looking for, you guys! LHT SUBBED.
So clean and well put together John is the man. Would like to see an Greddy or Hks turbo kit on that thing!
It took me 6 months to find a new B16 for my EM1. The old one was damaged by the previous owner and was unsalvageable. If I could have done this I probably would have. But in California if you put a different engine into your car, the amount of bureaucracy to get it smog certified is astronomical. Respect to an amazing build.
I love this so much - this is SO CLEAN!!!! - Mike
Car looks insane man, nice job!!
They sound real amazing

But it's hard mounted to the chassis, I think. When the engine pitches back and forth, that mount is going to crack.
I love the way you always say what things cost it drives me mad when people keep the cost secret.
This is looking and sounding amazing! Ready for that Mugen baffled oil pan next!
Loving the build!!!
OMG I MISS MY EM1 SO MUCH I HAD A B18C5 THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING THIS GEM Lmbo I guess you have a c5 also
This is a historic build🔥💯
It just keeps getting better
Can’t go wrong with a type-R swap on that car. Very premium and nostalgic. For the sounds and feels. Literally a dream car. I miss my em1. Sadly it was stolen.

Haha, thanks for the heart. You and I are the same age. I remember when they came out, I always wanted one. I had a 92 GSR when I was 19 that I wish I never sold. I did enter to win and I have the garage space, she'd be taken care of, left as-is, and cherished.
B series all the way! Just finished my civic mb6 with the b18c6 type r a couple of months ago
Love the sounds from the B-18 C5. Actually, all the B series sound great. Best sounding 4 cylinder IMHO.

My favorite Engine. Thanks for this video
Great work
Great Video. Cannot wait to win this Civic!!
This video is very well done!
Thank you Matt.
love the induction/vtec sound
Hands down one of the cleanest civics I have seen.
I'd never thought EM1 as a true Civic. Only hatchbacked civics will capture the true essense of japanese motors!
I saw this yesterday but doesn't matter, because this beautiful car deserve it!
Honda Civic SI dream car right here
Sounds amazing for the Honda bros. Awesome project.
Dang brings me back to when I was growing up. I wish I still had my ek.
The titanium intake is a work of art!
I had a fake one of these from a Mexican and it was all kinds of a headache but I loved it! If I win a give away ever in my life I really hope it’s for this car. I wish you all the best of luck and don’t let your wives find out how much we spend to win this car....

I recently bought an itr swapped civic from a good friend. So much fun.. I do have a stage 3 cam though so it is a bit choppy
I really really admire your work Sir. Hope someday i can built the same.my dream engine. very nice video 2 thumbs up.
I love these long videos
I did a JDM ITR swap in my 99 EM1. One of my favorite builds. That Ti Intake is legit. Wonder if a Velocity Stack would help at all??
This is gonna be a good one
You just busted the greatest myth of hondas in my opinion. Good job sir.
Why are so many people talking about selling this... That’s a shame obviously you guys are in it for the money and not for the love. The only reason I am entering to win this car is to drive it around and enjoy the fine details he put into this car.
