In 1989 a friend and I drove an hour to see a Rodney Mullen freestyle demo in some random parking lot in San Marcus, TX. Toward the end of the demo, Rodney asked if there were any tricks that the crowd wanted to see. My buddy and I yelled out "Ollie Rocket Air," and in one try Rodney landed one. And by ollie rocket air, I mean he did an ollie, grabbed his nose with both hands, put both toes on his tail, and then somehow got the board back under his feet and landed on the bolts. I know that freestyle != street skating, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone else land one.

Waaah that is insane! i only seen rodney mullen from VHS video's ive collected in the late 90's (im european btw) i was sooo freaking mindblown and made me want to skateboard like that! But talentless me struggled HARD but loved every second of it, the payoff was so great when you did land one of those tricks! Best one for me personally was a fakie Casper 540 on a bank! made all my friends soo fuckin proud! and others might say, thats easy! and sure it is for others but as i stated; im not talented.

@@daevid21 trying practicing them in your back yard holding on to your fence. Seriously, try it this way....first using two hands to hold onto the fence. When you get good at doing kick flips in the back yard holding onto the fence with two hands, move to doing them with one hand....then move to no hands, then once good at that move out on to concrete....then go on to doing them while moving. I learned all my tricks this way, got really super good ( no where near pro, but extremely happy with my skating abilities)... One 9f my favorite tricks was to do a kick flip to disaster slide ( or back side rail slide, I use to be regular footed, or skate with my right foot forward)....

Slosh was huddled-up on the cold cement the whole freakin’ time- never gave up. I rolled away with the trick,, and he got the flu! Jonny, know how HONORED I am by the way you go after these and how you speak about it all... And know that in 28 years, what you did just now will still be in you; that feeling never leaves us. Cool we get to share that, at this level- we all do, at every level. What a gift skating is...

Thanks for the tricks, man! Shredder! Love from Aus, mate.

After seeing the last two videos and your casper slides, I'm thinking you could pull off a backside casper slide too. I had a whole new appreciation of the sport. I’m so happy to have stumbled across this video, I could actually feel this man’s frustration. It actually make me want to pick up a skateboard again and land that switch flip back tail that I gave up on 10 years ago….but after enough sprained/broken ankles that is no longer possible. So that being said to all those talented young guys out there…. the window is short so keep on pushing and land that trick. You will regret not landing it when you get older. This was awesome to watch and take a push down memory lane, Thank you 🙏🏻

I can't imagine how long it took you even to cut all the attempts and make the video ... what a great lesson to see you commited and trying again and again without giving up. A great lesson that I show to my son to encourage him in learing new tricks - failing is also part of the learning process ... we improve a little bit at each failed attempt.

this is good for young skaters to see. Its not always like a skate video with people pulling off trick after trick with ease. This is the majority of your time when you are a skater. practicing and practicing until you finally land it the first time (whatever it may be). And then practicing even more so that you can almost do a trick "on command." And the feeling when you reach each of these milestones with each new trick is SO rewarding. Skateboarding actually teaches a ton about hard work.
