Jonny is an incredible skater, and even he has a hard time with a lot of these tricks. Now imagine being Rodney. He had to think up these tricks, then figure out how to perform them. There was no videos for him to slow down and study foot placements and technique. He didn't have the comfort of knowing someone already landed them so he for sure know it's possible. And still Rodney makes these tricks look so easy because he just does them perfect. This is why I appreciate this series. It shows how hard they actually are. Great job, Jonny.

Honestly, rodney was locked in his garage for 12 hours a day skating and developed incredible skills. He also had a mind that open and free to imagine and discover how to maneuver the board.

But don't forget, Rodney is a bonified engineer, astrologist, physicist, mathematician and whatnot on a board. He probably calculated this trick while making mechanical engineering look childish 😁😜

You absolutely read in my thoughts ! No words to describe how genius Rodney was from inventing a trick, figure the thing out, trying thousands of times, to landing them without any sort of help except his mind.. He (and all skaters) are such inspiration for everyone because they show what people are capable of doing when you love something. Life lesson ahah

Ive never been a great skater, but growing up playing THPS, watching the skate videos and being amazed by Rodney Mullen's control and mastery of a skateboard, this series (and your channel in general) is a welcome perk in my life. Never stop bein great and showing others how to do the same 👍 success, without knowing the failures that come before it, isnt as sweet as failing a ton of times and then nailing it.

Also, your effort in landing them in flatground and seeing your tries, tells even more about the story of rodney doing them in street gaps. I believe no one can really appreciate the tricks rodney was doing back then, but your series help in understanding the story behind them. Keep going, appreciate your work a lot.

One interesting thing Mullen does is that when he jumps, he recoils his back leg up (right after the Ollie’s pop), leaving his front leg stretched to catch the skate in the air for the reverse flip.

I think the reason Johnny struggles with this trick is because of his leg accentuation's. If you look how he does 360 flips his legs spread pretty wide when flicking, this looks so steezy and for me is the most stylish way of doing tricks. Conversely Rodney's style seems to use micro movements that generate a lot of torgue, this allows his flicking foot to stay relatively close to pop foot, keeping him more inline with the center of his board and keeping his foot in pretty much the same location for the underflip. Super awesome watching you learn these tricks, thanks for the vids!

Gawd! Giger is one of my top 3 faves right now! Giger, Fetty potter n Uzi walker. Yes braille completely made me discover fetty n uzi... it helped me rediscover Giger! Mullen was the best skater in my eyes... this set of videos has helped me see.... there are other cats put there just as sick! Honestly... I think Giger is better. His overall skills blow anyone away. It's like if you took Mullen n Koston n blended them together.... but gave such a rad personality n humor to it. Such a KING man!🤘🎸🤘🎸🤘🤩🤩🥰🥰🥰

Rodney Mullen is a genious. When I used to skate, I always did the underflip (half kickflip and back) and caspers in s.k.a.t.e games and almost nobody could do it. but the kickflip underflip I tried and tried and never was able to land. This video was kind of touching :P And really relieving you finally landed it! Really like this channel!

the juxtaposition of you doing this insane trick with another skater in the back learning how to do a pop shuvit is really cool. Johnny started out knowing nothing and had to learn how to do the basics at some point, just like the other dude, and everybody else. it shows how much hard work & perseverance can pay off :)

Kickflip Underflip is natural, but most modern skaters make kickflip by kicking side instead of back/down way. Look how Rondey do this. Anyway, thanks Johny for another amazing video, in my opinion you r the best skate youtuber.

Huge respect for this series! As a scientist rather than a proper skater I can honestly say the subtleties in technique from Rodneys' footage is what separates humans from..the God. If you look how high he gets his knees away from the board so he has enough time to underflip AND then land bolts by constantly adjusting his feet away from the deck...The guy is connected to the board in a way that's more like PS5 rather than human..Its was called Virtual Reality for a reason I suppose.....Well done Jonny!

Good job! @Jonny Giger take a look at at the original two video clips and see how both skaters lift their knees up really high throughout the underflip. For days you had your legs almost straight after initiating the underflip and your feet often blocked the full rotation of the board. For your last couple makes you had your knees bent a little bit and the board just scrapes by under your feet. I think if you could get em up higher, this trick would go down easier.
