46 year old skater here to - on a regular basis - goes skateboarding w. the kids (although at a more cautions level, obviously). Make sure you get some protective socks (like the Footprint Knee High Painkiller Shin Socks) and I highly recommend getting some vans sk8 hi pro (w. comfort cushioning); you won't regret it. Also, get a good board - don't skimp out on the hardware.

Love how Jonny respects the OG skaters from every style but tries to hang. So MUCH respect for you, Jonny. Gunther is an OG and you had so much heart in this.

I love how freestyle is getting some appreciation these days

In order to do 5:56 ♥ 6:13 you need to get 1OO% CONTROL of your body, which obviously 10:17 he has !!

Saw Günther at a freestyle competition in Paderborn (Germany) in 2005 or 04 (he won before you wonder), very humble and down to earth guy who was kind enough to reply to an email of my young self asking for advice to become a pro freestyle skater. Much love to this guy!

That was a blast! Günter and Rodney were my biggest inspirations in my Freestyle career and seeing Günter with my number 1 youtube skater is a blessing. Well done Gentlemen!

Im 33 now. When i was 14 o Met Günther Here in Berlin and we Made a Tour with the Freestyle sk8 Company team “Rolling Four”. I was so impresed by Günthers Skills . But at the Same Time i remember he Telling me how Good i was at This Time. It hurts to think about the awesome comunity we had Here in Berlín and how things changed. But After seeing This it motivates me to start again. Just like i admired the personality of Rodney as a kid i loved günthers personality and those to persons had a big influence an how i profiled my self at this time.

5:56 dude, what the... I've been doing the hang ten nosemany for over 14 years now, but I've never seen a "spacewalk" version. and everything else of course was just mindblowing to watch. hat's up to you sir Günter Mokulys.

As good as Ginger is, it's beautiful to watch him be humbled. I love that skating is still positive to this day.

It's like watching a professional hockey player versus a professional ice skater. Obviously you are the hockey player and you're both skilled but Gunter is impossibly gracious and nimble, he's really worked at his craft for a long time

I`m from brazil and i have his book too!!! mine is from 1991 edition, i always take a look before sk8ing....woww congrats for skating with him!!! what a pleasure!!! a dream that come true! here i am cameraman on the red bull skate generation, Vans park series...great vibes!!!!! wow still impressed to see him so weel, watching again now!!!! hug bro! and congrats once again!!!!

I actually learned by his book as well. I remember getting that book at Barns and Nobles when I was 14.

Absolutely loved this video. I really appreciate your respect and love for skateboarding, its origins and legends. Bravo to you both!

I have also learned a lot from the streestyle Books with Günter and Thilo from the 90‘s and I also saw him live performing on a Contest in Germay and it was sick!

This was really fun to watch. Both legends in their own right, IMO.

I was one of the original fans of the Bones Brigade. that means I have been a rubbish skater for a Loooooong time . how did I skate so long and get almost no skills? I don't know , I don't even care but I still LOVE to skate !!

I've always loved the creativity involved with skating and often think of how there are so many tricks out there just waiting to be found and named. Skating has evolved immensely since I started skating in the 90s! Much respect and that was honestly some impressive stuff guys!

@@heavydiggari diane desederio was the wife of primo desedario, they did freestyle choreography shows together. yes, primos are named after him. he invented the primoslide. kevin harris was a bones brigade dude on powell. hes canadian and taught andy anderson his freestyle foundation.

I live in a small town called Leer Ostfriesland. Guenther Skates at our local skatepark all the time and it’s Crazy how he’s still in good shape. I designed one of his new upcoming skateboards. Such a trip seeing him out there. Guenther is also good Friends with all the skate legends too. Crazy guy.

What a beautiful game of skate! Such a different vocabulary from street or vert. Really happy that w skaters like giger and Andy Anderson there seems to be a revival and reappreciation of this style of skating.

Two legends in one video. Best idea ever. I actually bought Günthers "old" book one year ago because Jonny kept mentioning it a few times in his videos. And I honestly think I will never be able to land 95% of the tricks in that book. But I can vividly imagine young-Jonny (or young myself back then) being super stoked and wanting to learn every trick that is mentioned there.

great video. I met guenter in 2015, in Rio de janeiro, he came to brazil to compete in the big rio freestyle contest. in 2019 I had the pleasure of competing against him. he is a legend and still has good tricks at the age 57.
