It's time to make an Acoustic Guitar Armrest

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

This video demonstrates how to start making an acoustic guitar armrest using a router. The binding channels are cut as are the channels for the purflings in preparation for the popular acoustic guitar armrest.
You'll like all the close-up and overhead shots of this insane process! I hope you enjoy it because it terrifies me!

A guitar that needs armrest normally has it already. The ones without, only need them as ornaments

The arm rest I build takes the pressure off the inside of your arm and allows you to play longer. And yes, it does look cool as well. I'll be showing that in a video very soon.

I really enjoy the overhead views. I'm really excited to see the next steps; I'm at the same place in my current build and need the inspiration! I will be using "crazy" (actually thin CA) glue as well.

I’ve been using Titebond but it’s open time is too long. I bent my binding with a homemade pipe jig with a propane torch and the maple wants to spring back. I have it all dry fit and taped up but not glued. I’m going to try Robbie O’Brien’s CA method but I was also told by another amateur luthier to wrap it all with twill tape after taping it down. I am on the hunt for 100’ of it at local craft and fabric stores. When luthery is just a hobby you have to be resourceful!

Oh man, after all that work it jumped out of the holder jig! I couldn’t image if at this point it went wrong and you had to recover with a whole new build! Great angles again Monty!
