Oh shit thanks for pointing that out. Course not everyone would be familiar even for so call fans like myself. Truth is the characters and stories at this point has expanded so far that even a quite of bit of people that love this stuff weren't fans during specific details but eventually was immersed in it. It just goes to show how deep and amazing it is all are and why even to this day it sucks even more people in even years later course what some has to go one may be the Ancient One and for good reasons. Maybe that was an younger version and it seem similar. Which as Xavier's "evil" twin sister you say? The man known with a power if not the most power mind and abilities of all the mutants. Well damn of course their abilities would seem similar to the Ancient One, even greater if I say so myself but again I myself isn't familiar with completely everything. So hell even that could be wrong which goes to show that the stories are more unpredictable than some might think.

@@Heru_Iluvatar the characters they focus on are wolverine, charles and magneto, and sometimes raven. while the actual team - with scott, storm, jean, rogue - is heavily sidelined. sure the movies explored the themes of the xmen - bigotry and prejudice, but did't focus enough on the team

They've indicated this is a new Wolverine who isn't necessarily tied to any previously seen timeline. That way you're not contradicting the timelines of the other movies and also not telling anyone that the version of X-Men they liked all died later.
