Umm no. You dont see that much bad calls on volleyball and even if there is, you are given chances to challenge through replay because everything happens very fast and sometimes even the refs couldnt follow. That is actually a bad generalization.

And do you think the refs after going through the replay or after challenging the call do you think the refs ego would take back their call? Stop defending the refs lol we get it that sometimes everything is happening so fast but they should after reviewing after replaying take back the miss call and award the freethrows/penalties as it should or else what the hell is the point of a replay??????

@@DarrenStevensohnOfficial No it's not "actually a bad generalization" it holds true even in volleyball because it's happened before hence it's accurate for every sport, just not as probable for some. Either way, giving one example where it's arguably not true when there are tons of sports does not make it a bad generalization. A bad generalization would be several sports, perhaps even majority where the statement doesn't hold true.

@@colesonlamb5981 Like Jxmy said, there's no protocol for this because it never happens. Technically, the ref is part of the playable area, and so if you bump into him and lose the ball, you turned it over. If you pass it and it hits him and goes out, it's out on you. So technically here it should've counted as Jones(Heat player) falling out of bounds on his own accord and the ball goes to Detroit. I personally think it should just be Heat ball out of bounds there. But who knows 🤷‍♂

I used to be a referee for intramural college league and I have to say it was probably the worst job of my life. The game moves so fast and there is so much to see and a foul can be so slight (a single finger hitting an elbow, one foot not in the right place turns a charge into a blocking foul, etc) that its really hard to notice. It also doesn't help that literally every single time a player shoots the ball they're yelling in your face that it was a foul, or flopping, or sticking their leg out to have someone run into it. These are NBA refs so obviously they should be held to a higher standard (and there might be some fixing going on) but it's a hard job and it sucks. No matter what call you make the other team hates you and these guys will getin your face about it.

i was an intramural college basketball ref for about a month before i quit. players took that shit way too seriously. refs are just human like anyone else, they are going to make mistakes. however, NBA refs have the benefit of a replay system. they should be able to see controversial calls and overturn them. and in the case of joey crawford, that's just a terrible ref on a power trip. no need for that anywhere. no reason why a player should get ejected for laughing on the bench, or a technical foul while he's warming up in the hallway.

I mean we track every players move now, literally. There are statistics now that didn't even exist 20 years ago. If you paid someone 6+ figures with the sole purpose of making correct calls, and they had all of that technology and smarts to do it, and still get it wrong, would you be mad that you paid them? As a DET fan who got in to watching the NBA the year they won the chip in 03-04 as a kid, I knew that play had to be in here. I wasn’t even in middle school yet (was summer b4) I still vividly remember it. Shout out to Jimmy for showing respect to Chauncey as a defender. Underrated guard defender even tho he was on one of the best defenses of all time. I still am kinda disappointed they didn’t end up with another ring from that era…I would be happy with two. One seems so crazy bc of how good they were for so long, and how they could’ve been one of the most memorable teams for sustained success if not for a couple horrific FO decisions. Obv mostly passing on Bosh or Melo. I don’t think they ever considered Wade with Rip still being so good and still p young. They would’ve made the Rasheed trade regardless, bc Larry Brown wasn’t about to start a rookie, but if they did get let’s say Bosh…he would’ve been playing a lot of mins p fast. Ben fell off hard and they let him walk at the right time. I can just imagine a Bosh Sheed duo up front with Tayshaun and Rip both still young. Then Rasheed would’ve been done and Bosh would’ve been destroying. It rly could’ve been a pretty seamless transition between eras, but that’s not how DET sports work 😂

Jxmy is the GOAT. He always delivers the best opinion on KZread. And always does his research and puts his time in every single video he makes. He’s the definition of quality over quantity. I remember when I started watching his videos. I wasn’t into basketball and the analytics, but he got me into it and I can’t thank him enough for that 🙏🏽. Thank you Jxmy for allowing me to love the game of basketball even more!!!

Nah this video is pointless. Yeah, so what if other bad calls happen. They shouldn't continue to happen. It hasn't just been one bad call this year, it's been half the last 10 Lakers games. Bad officiating has gotten really bad, really regularly lately. It's not the 90's anymore. We have video. If there's human error, we can correct that.

Beautiful video as always Jxmy!!! I do want to make this point as a first year junior high/high school official, it’s whole another different game when you officiate! If you criticize, also be the first one to compliment as well because, unless you’ve officiated before, then you don’t realize what it takes in the .1 second you need to make a call/throw a flag! These are missed calls and huge ones for sure, ESPECIALLY for professionals. But officiating slander, especially from those that don’t realize what it’s like to be an official, is the reason why there’s an official shortage in America that leads to younger generations not being able to play.

I've been hoping a hoops KZreadr makes a video about these horrendous calls/no-calls. Glad you were the one to do it, Jxmy. "The Hall of Bad Calls" was great. In the future, I'd love for you to cover technical fouls - one of the worst parts of NBA officiating. Luka talking to his teammate, Tatum clapping at himself, Schroder laying on the court - there are a lot that you could add to the "Hall of Bad Calls" 😂
