Fun Fact: The guy who you thought was Ben originally (the blonde guy), actually played the child version of Ben in the original IT mini series in 1990! His real name is Brandon Crane. The guy in the pawn shop is actually Stephen King (the original writer of the IT book, and many others).

They may not have known. I don’t know how familiar they are with his books but sometimes unless an author is super well known and you see their face everywhere it probably won’t get noticed right away. I love the casting for the adult Losers Club so much. Especially Jessica Chastain as Bev and Bill Hader as Richie. One of the creepiest parts in Chapter II is when the Losers Club is at the Chinese restaurant and they start getting tormented by Pennywise. And how the Old Spice guy was Mike Hanlon. lol Side note: The fact that one of Pennywise's eyes is wonky isn't a special effect, Bill Skarsgård can actually do that with his eyes....same with the creepy smile.

the weird fly baby thing was a subtle book reference. it isn’t touched on here, but after the losers leave derry they are all unable to conceive children despite nothing being medically wrong with them, and it’s because of the curse It put on them/the town in general. i think the fact that it was a fly ties into the recurring spider motif, as It is heavily associated with spiders and flies are the most commonly portrayed prey of spiders.

In the book (and the original TV movie) the Richie and Eddie being more than friends was mostly subtext interpreted by the fans. They made it more obvious here, and Bill Hader consciously portrayed Richie as gay. I think it makes a lot of sense, and it gives his sense of humor and remarks a whole other layer.

I live in Maine and it’s actually beautiful and peaceful. And we have a very strong sense of community. Yes it can be creepy under the right circumstances, I mean where do you think Stephen King got the inspiration for most of his work? True Story: I once got lost driving near Buxton and drove up to this house in the middle of nowhere fast for directions, and as I drove to the end of the driveway at the house, they were two dogs the same breed as Cujo sitting still in staring at me, obviously, I got a little scared, and as I was looking behind myself to turn the car back around and then get out of the door and ask for directions from the homeowner, one of the dogs disappeared, and appeared on my left side. Like the Raptors in Jurassic Park one distracted me while the other flanked me. They were actually very calm and friendly dogs, but come on, who wouldn’t be freaked out that that happened to them, AND IN MAINE of all places.

They hint at it but never outright say it but Richie was in love with Eddie and that was his other fear. He feared his sexuality and masked it by overcompensating with "getting laid" and "yo momma" jokes. You are right at the end there. Also how IT planted false memories to show how IT got trapped which made no sense because if the native Americans had trapped IT they wouldn't have needed to do a ritual proving it was a mind game. Which was a brilliant twist. Bill Skarsgard is such a great actor. He did the eye movements himself for playing pennywise. In the end the moral of the story is empowering yourself and diminishing your fears.

The movies (rightfully) leave out some of the really "WTF Stephen King" moments, 1) being IT was millions of years old and was a comic demi god who was fighting with another cosmic being, a turtle and 2) the kids gained powers from their bond; and after they defeated IT, they were losing said powers and renewed them by...uh... running a train on Bev. 3) This movie used the "if you believe it does" only for the adult side of things only (which are the powers I mentioned from their bond), and the original years were advanced 27 years for the movies, which is why some of the things seemed "dated". EDIT: Richie wasn't gay in the book, but Stephen King supports that change, saying that it makes it come full circle with one of the heroes being gay, with the brutal homophobic attack at the start.

@CinePals Stephen king said “Pennywise is a mythical creature but the creature was inspired by John Wayne Gacy. I couldn’t use a serial killer so I created a mythical creature instead.”

The spider thing is because that is IT's true form...the way the human mind sees him any way. A giant spider but in the book it was so much more complexed and yes Eddie dies in the book too sadly. Stephen king made a cameo here he was the guy that Bill got the bike back from haha. I did not like this one though it did have it moments but that is mostly because the concept goes so far from the book it's a bit annoting. The book doesn't have anything about a ritual and no one saw when IT came to earth because that was during the dinosour age millions of years ago. In the book mike and bill do have a vision of when IT came to earth but it wasn't because of drugs. Also in the book when they defeated IT half the town was destroyed with him as well. Any way I do love the acting here and Jessica is amazing as always.
