To start the day, I went for breakfast to eat Kofte, meatball, which is one of the most famous Turkish street food in Turkey and honestly they were top level.
Şöhretler Beşiktaş Köftecisi : Sinanpaşa, Şair Leyla Sk. 5 C, 34353 Beşiktaş/İstanbul
After that, I went next door to one of the oldest pickles shops in the neighbourhood to drink their juice. The level of street food in Turkey is just the top.
Soydan Turşucu : Sinanpaşa, Şair Leyla Sk. No:9 D:1, 34353 Beşiktaş/İstanbul
To continue my top level street food tour in Istanbul, I went to try fresh Turkish ayran for the very first time since I arrived in Turkey.
Sokak pilavcısı : Sinanpaşa, Mumcu Bakkal Sokağı No:25, 34353 Beşiktaş/İstanbul
Finally, it's time for the biggest doner kebab in the world. I went to this local shop, I saw a lot of people lining up and I couldn't resist the smell coming out of it. Turkish street food is on another level.
Karadeniz Döner Asım Usta : Sinanpaşa, Mumcu Bakkal Sokağı No:6, 34353 Beşiktaş/İstanbul
After that, we headed towards the Saturday market in Besiktas which is located inside a car park. Filled with people, vendors sell all kinds of stuff. From fresh produce, utensils for the house on the first level, and clothes, and most importantly food on the top level. Here we had homemade Gozleme and Salep by street food vendors and salep.
Besiktas Saturday Market : Beşiktaş Halk Pazarı 2 OTOPARK 200
To finish my top level street food tour in Istanbul, I went for some fish as a final meal of the day. What I like about this place is that they have their stall selling fresh fish next door even though a few dishes were not my favourite.
Derya Balik : Sinanpaşa, A, Çarşı Cd. No:20, 34353 Beşiktaş/İstanbul
Hope you guys enjoyed the video. Stay tuned for more street food tours in Istanbul and around Turkey.

Sahlep is made of the tubers of the orchid genus Orchis. I believe the tubers are first dried and then turned into powder. If interested you can get sahlep from Mısır Çarşısı or a good quality herbal shop. (The kind of shops that sell spices, herbal teas...etc.) If you're really interested I can translate a recipe for you. As for stuffed mussels, the ones that are sold in the street are very low quality. Like all dolmas made with olive oil, they should have pine nuts and zante currants and more sautéed onions than rice with a bit of sugar and spices as well. The main ingredient isn't rice with spices. Since you're a big football fan, Turks were all supporting 🇮🇹 against UK.

You were right when you said they grape leaves are for 'sarma' (translates to 'wrapped') Grapevines are grown a lot in western Turkey and sarma is what we call it. 'Dolma' refers to items being 'stuffed' not wrapped, e.g. stuffed tomatoes, zucchinis, capsicum etc

I'm sitting here feeling stuffed after eating dinner several hours ago, and the sight of that gözleme had my mouth watering. I really like the fact that Max doesn't overact when eating, looking for a reaction from the chef's. His circular hand gestures and the "Mama Mia" just kill me. Genuinely good stuff. Bravo. The hot drink which you had towards the end of the episode is called Sahlab (Lebanon and Syria) and Salep in Turkey . It is made with milk, the ingredient called sahlab, flavored with mastic gum and sugar then some cinnamon on top. This is a famous drink during winter in Lebanon and Syria as well.
