Every once in a while, I "discover" a singer with an incredible voice and endless charisma, like Israel. I think, how did I never know about this person? I was so sorry to learn that he had also passed. I can easily picture him in heaven, on a white, sandy beach, singing and laughing with his friends. What better music for the hereafter? I have a ring tone of Izzy singing Somewhere Over the Rainbow, which I love. One day at work, I had forgotten to turn my phone off, and I was in another room when a call came in and another employee hunted me down. He said, "Your phone is going off, with someone butchering 'Somewhere . . ." I really wanted to knock this guy down. But, I figured he was 2:49 so ignorant and sheltered that he had never heard a different version of that song, he was beyond trying to educate. Israel was a precious gift to the world, who was gone so soon. I thank his family, friends and others who make sure we can still enjoy this gift. Now, I'm going to listen to "White Sandy Beach" again . . . . Aloha, Izzy, rest in peace. 😢❤❤

Crying like a toddler, while holding my toddler. I've been singing it to him since he was born... four surgeries later, including heart... it's become his favorite song. Even gets the ukulele to play along...

Never get tired of hearing IZ sing. Such a smooth, silky voice. This is my favorite of all.

What a beautiful artist. Israel has helped many people have a better day. His voice is definitely from GOD.

His eyes show his illness but bro pulled it together and sounded awesome RIP with Jesus my brother.

This performance gives me chills like no other. Seeing such a beautiful human with the voice of an Angel struggling near the end of his life affects you deep in the core. This man’s beautiful soul and voice captured forever in this beautiful video. Rock on IZ, you are still such an inspiration to so many; the voice of Angel, straight from the heavens.

I first came across a video on here of IZ singing Over The Rainbow about 10 years ago. I spent most of the day playing the video over and over. His voice and the song really spoke to my heart. I've since watched every video I could find of him. Today I came across a video I'd never seen before "Remembering "IZ" Israel Kamakawiwo'ole June 26th, 1997". I cried my heart out. Such an awesome man with an honest and true heart who touched the hearts of millions. He was an inspiration to the people of Hawaii and loved his heritage, his people and his culture. We should all aspire to be like him. To love everyone. R.I.P IZ. You will never be forgotten. Today you walk among the angels.

Whats truly magnificent is that he doesn’t let it stop him. His health conditions. It doesn’t stop him from doing what he loves. You can see the emotion he puts into the song. Just. Beautiful.

I'm a level headed 53 year old woman who unfortunately for me had never heard of IZ or his beautiful voice and songs while he was still alive, but I do have them now thanks to the wonderful people who posted various videos of him singing and/or videos of his singing accompanied in most cases by various pictures of him!! I hope all of the proceeds from all videos posted of IZ are going to a good cause in/on the islands of Hawaii to help those there who need help and not someone using his gorgeous gift for their own monetary gain, unless the poster\s is/are family who have the RIGHT to use his recordings as they see fit. I basically came here meaning to say that although I never saw or knew IZ while he was alive I just KNOW he was an awesome, amazing, loving and giving person. One reason I know this, is because I do not fawn over or feel really much of any kind of connection to famous people, as they are no different then the rest of us, yet I never knew IZ and I just KNOW and I do feel an enormous love for him but also from him, and NO I am not a loon, It's just sometimes people leave a small or big trace of who they were behind, and I think he left an enormous hole, lack of his presence where he once was, as well as an enormously abundant amount of love, and it has an affect on me in a good way of course. That is the only way and the only words I can think of to explain/describe what I experience whenever I think of him and/or his music and/or what little I know about his life!! May GOD rest and keep his soul!!!

He was quite ill at this point. He passed 3 months after this concert at the age of 38 from respiratory failure and other comorbid complications leaving behind his wife and 14 yo daughter at the time. Thankfully he will live on forever.💕💕💕

No ones gonna remember you a hundred years from now, so I guess what I'm saying is being heavy didn't stop this man from giving downright to the world. Regardless of his weight he had an amazing voice and seemed to be a very kind person. I don't care how beautiful or how rich you are the true measure of a person is how one treats others.

Even from the UK I can see what he means to the people of Hawaii. His voice and playing were from another world. I just wish he could be here today. I would travel across the world to hear that beautiful voice sing live but it's not possible now. I hope the big guy is at peace and and still playing those wonderful songs. 😊
