    Imagine being undefeated in the UFC, holding the middle weight title of the world and being brought to tears at a purple belt promotion. Just goes to show the dedication, the journey and the effort it takes to progress in BJJ.

    Always remember, fighting always starts on the feet, and its damn near impossible to put Izzy on the floor and worse keep him there. It just got much worser for his competition.

    @Alex Clausing Belts mean fk all tbh. Competitive belts v Hobbyist belts are a whole diff world. Also some guys just do tons of nogi and hardly any GI and get promoted slowly.

    @@Wompwomp150 BJJ is not grappling. Its more Grabbing with grappling of course. If you only learn grappling and without grabbing, you better fight naked, because 80% of the fight are controlled with grabbing and not grappling.

    It always makes me humbled how emotional MMA fighters get when they get promoted in BJJ. I remember Tyron Woodley winning another UFC belt when he submitted Darren Till and he was nonchalant about it. And when his BJJ coach gave him a black belt he broke down crying in the cage. They often have more of a reaction to the BJJ belt than the world championship UFC belt. Good stuff!

    I always say, for someone that has a martial arts background, specially wrestling, they go through a highway once they start training BJJ. For the other mortals, we go through every stop sign trying to learn. ENJOY YOUR JORNEY!!!! Never compare. Be happy and consistent. Remember, COMPARISON IS THE MOTHER OF UNHAPPINESS!!!

    We just need him in there against a real wrestler. Romero obviously didn’t go hard enough for the takedown, he tried it like twice maybe But Jon Jones has some nasty takedowns when he goes after them early. We’ll see izzy’s grappling get tested

    Just got my brown belt, and I cried uncontrollably, and I’ve cried at each promotion, starting with my blue stripe on that worn out white belt. It’s a great feeling. Much love for this new purple belt.

    What Izzy said is exactly how I began to feel over the course of my bjj journey. The act of giving and remaking humble . Started from the professor and bled down to the students. It’s the part of jiu jitsu if u ask me. So much more then subing someone. OSS!

    Let’s be honest, if you do BJJ you know how incredible it is to get to purple belt. I’ve personally witnessed a good training partner of mine cry when he got his as well. It’s a huge honor. One day, I hope to be there. Just gotta keep on rolling lol

    That was awesome the way he surprised his student with his belt promotion. And his student was so humble and so gracious. So much of that is missing in martial arts today. I watch his videos for the promotions. This is truly inspiring.
