Kamaru Usman earns his Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt after UFC 235

We were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to document the moment UFC Welterweight Champion Kamaru "The Nigerian Nightmare" Usman earned his Jiu-Jitsu black belt from Jorge Santiago after defeating Tyron Woodley at UFC 235.
Thank you to Professor Jorge Santiago of Xcell Jiu-Jitsu for the opportunity to be there during this historic moment.

You do. With as many opponents that he’s taken to the ground, when was the last time he got submitted? BJJ isn’t just about getting submissions. It’s also about getting and maintaining dominant position on the ground. And also defensive bjj where you fend off getting submitted.

Man, I wish his authentic character could be his persona on the promotion. Way more genuine, likable, and consistent. No point in faking this macho persona when he's more of a GSP type of champion, and should embrace it. He doesn't have to go against his character to create false hype, talk trash, or speak a lot - GSP never has and he was a superstar just by being humble, respectful, and just damn good at fighting.

David Wrestling is 10 times harder than striking. Anybody can learn to strike and become moderately good and it’s not too taxing on the body, but any wrestler transitioning to MMA knows that wrestling is harder. If a striker doesn’t want to get mauled on the ground (Conor) maybe they should learn how to get their lazy ass off the ground, A striker can get a lucky strike and maybe get a KO but a good grappler will ALWAYS dominate.

Why does the Black Man always have to be self deprecating to make you clowns feel comfortable about their success. I bet you're a fan of guys like McGregor, Covington and Masvidal. Those guys are allowed to express their opinion and defend themselves when disrespected by fellow fighters. But, dare a Black fighter do the same, he's considered (in the case of Usman) either arrogant or fake. The only thing Usman has to do is keep winning, you clowns can go kick rocks.

No fighter is as much of an ass hole as Covington and you people love him! There is nothing thugish about Usman. Was it not Jorge that called himself a real gangster? yes! And the BMF? Ah, that would be jorge. Next, there are not many preachers who are fighters. If you got off your ass and actually did some real sparring, you would know that.

@@TheUmmahFightCamp Stop race baiting lmao. Who is the dude who asked Jorge for autographs and pictures? And then calls him a journeyman? And then acts like he doesnt know him WHO WHO? And then says Jorge is the best fighter he fought? And then says he gonna bless Jorge? And then says Jorge is shit again? And then you see when on the pressconfrence with Askren. And talked big stuff like, oh Askren was scared blablabla. But then behind the scenes you saw how much of a fool he looked for acting hard. Bruh it has nothing to fo with skin color. And with Colby, most people dont like him, but for the people who do you can see its a character. I know its fake, he does it as a act but slow people like you dont get that. And Jorge calling him a gangster? Idk whats wrong with that, he been fighting since he was a child in the streets against grown men 40 pounds heavier then him. Then went flying across the world fighting men professionally. He been in the game for 17 years. And if you talk crap about him, he does do something alone unlike the owl, ask Edwards And nothing thugish about Usman? Bruh he attacked Colby with Ali when he was in a line ordering food or something, with old people and kids were around. Like why does he do that? That ain't it chief and the difference between Masvidal was before your dense ass brain asks, Masvidal went up to Edwards with his team full of fighters around alone. While Usman went with Ali, to some random ass civilians who had nothing to do with it. Your mentality that everyone is against a guy cuz he is black is just hiliarious.

Usman doesn’t put on an act but people say he does or that he’s fake and people hate him, yet Colby is blatantly putting on a cringeworthy act and a lot of people love him for it. Not saying it’s about race at all though. Also, Usman didn’t attack Colby with Ali in the buffet line. Usman was holding Ali back because Colby kept talking shit and Ali wanted to beat Colby’s ass. I’m starting to think you didn’t actually watch the video and are just going off of what Colby and his fans are saying.

him, Woodley, and Tony Ferguson all got their black belts after they won a fight. Usman and Tony after they won a 🏆 , Woodley after defending it. Woodley and Tony actually submitted their opponents though where as Usman was able to just completely neutralize Woodley (who was also a black belt then) so that was enough to earn it evidently. Usman actually only won 1 fight by submission
