its not really happiest its sort of with least concerns etc unlike the USA where you have constant skinning of people (instead of helping) taxes that are used for military instead of people and infrastructure for example or healthcare etc etc can go on and on

In Arizona, we get 60 years on the expiration date. I've been to other states and some people have thought my license was fake because it expires in 2062.

My dads lisence is cardboard, written with a pen. Still rocking with it. I think he laminated it in the mid nineties.

Thats true. My finnish father in law has the same thing, laminated, hand written, photograph sticked with glue and stamped. I forget the exact year when it expires but looks like father in law will expire before that.

After watching many YT-clips, I understand why the US wants to check drivers often. Especially in Florida.

And I have this theory/experience: Our parents only drove to those nearby countries where they could understand the language (in our case Norway and Sweden). My generation was taught English, so we drove all over Europe. The next generation flies all over the world.

It depends on the state though. In Arizona my license also expires in 2049 and I got it about 10 years ago.

I only got 15 years in total on my Finnish driver's license. Things have changed since it seems.

Every old driver's license will expire January 18, 2033 regardless of the date on the card, which is 20 years from the date the new law was enforced.

It´s the same in Norway. We used to have it expire when we turned 100, but it´s been changed recently - mostly because of the pictures, I think.

When I learned how to drive here in Brazil… I took my first driving license when I was 18 years old. And it expired when I was 35 years old. According to the new laws here, the first one expires in 1 year. Then it expires every 5 years up to when you are 60 years old. Then it’s every 3 years. Then it’s every year. I’m sure after 60 years old they want to be sure your eyes are still good.

New licenses in Finland are renewed every 5 years. They want to make this retroactive, but until then, my driver's license is the most valuable thing in my wallet at any given time.

Old licenses won't be valid after 2030 or sth either - no matter what's printed on them - it was changed too.

That is for non-resident visa status. The expiry is as per you approved i94 time. Like for someone on three year L1B visa the DL expiration can be three years.

That’s true! and it’s fun though! As a foreigner, you could ask friends about reissuing your driver’s license, there is a way you can reissue it even though you are overseas. You don’t have to do it over and over again!

In Israel first one is for 5 years, then it is unlimited. Has its downsides, when grand grandpas are still driving, causing chaos.

In portugal your first license expires on your 50th birthday then every 5 years until 70 then every 2 years

In Germany there is no expiration date. And we have highways with no speed limits. Think about that.

Well, if I drove a BMW, Benz, Porsche, VW, Audi ... etc I wouldn't need glasses at all😅 German cars and roads are the reason why many of our people (Persians) are moving to Germany. I bet you are gonna see many of them in a few years if you haven't met one or two yet😊

Hi Americans! I'm curious, how hard is it to renew your driver's license? Do you need to go in to the DMV and get a new photo taken, or do they just mail a new license?

Once upon a time, when I still lived in Germany, my first driver's license had no expiration whatsoever. Then, long after I left, they changed it, but grandfathered in my eternal one. Always handy, because you got better rental car deals when visiting and using your venerable grey piece of documentation, rather than . Then came EU harmonisation and they expired the non-expiring license. And made me get one of the new EU licenses that last 10 years. Unless I just wanted to give it up and use the one from the country I live in now. Did I mention those sweet rental car deals?

It's about money. Every time you renew your license you pay for it. Good income for local governments

Europe wide until 70, then renew every 5 yrs..

Got to keep charging you fees to renew your license!

I'm Greek .. my driver's license expires on the same day I get caught by the police ... telling me I have an expired DL .

Formosa is the former name of Taiwan, which is not exactly small, and getting a driver's licence there does include testing one's eyesight, so I would assume that blind driving is not allowed there.

Sorry, I can not tell you the expiration date of my drivers license. The moment I will die, I can tell you. Right now, traffic feels sometimes viscous as honey and lethargic but when older, it will feel just right.

No “s” on Driver License or Pilot License -it’s not possessive. They are loaned to you based on obeying the law.

FYI it's Driver License. I know, I know I used to say Driver's license too, but it's really Driver , not Driver's.

They want to make it hard for u to drive because ure an immigrant.In Britain they give a ridicule-licence (a Provisional one)& then preventin u driving by thrustin a TheoryTest on u & then tell examiners to fail u.They want to promote "road safety" by having lesd cars on the rosd,thus disenfranchising candidates.This to maintain their political ideology!!
