Great review, would take a Stuart instead of the half track. This is the best set from Warlord Games right now, as you pointed out. Hope they do more.

Great review. This does look like a really strong starter set. Love that the order dice and templates/pins are added in. Only thing left to buy is an army book. I don’t play either of these factions but if I did, I would get the elite set to get all the support units as well. I would be purchasing those anyway and with Warlords new shipping cost structure, I’d want to make sure I’d place a large enough order. As for the half track, most people will probably buy a Sherman eventually, but less likely to buy a half track. So it seems like good marketing sense.

Yeah that’s what I’m thinking with the Halftrack.

Anti tank mine, the Japanese didn't really have an answer to the Sherman so after Tarawa they began to pick volunteers to sit in a hole cover with local vegetation covering it, and they would have a artillery shell on a bamboo pole and so thrust it up against the floor armor, or they also would do like this model and so just wack the nose detonator and blow themselves and the tank up.

So, to recap: Just buy 2 starter with no expansion, possibly selling what you don't need to someone else.

You could, but personally I’d simply buy the Elite Intervention one if I were starting either of these factions

I got a friend that uses those warlord pin markers, even twists them to the right number. Meanwhile I'm just using legion suppression tokens.

@@HollywoodWargaming I have a really hard time painting them neatly lol, but I do like the look of them so I’ll just get a good amount and hope I don’t need more. What do other people use?

No Sherman. 'Else the Japanese would have been with some AT canon as well as suicide mines. A Sherman is 9+ with the 75mm on top, and leaving that to a lone gun and 3 lone guys is rather risky in game terms not to mention in terms of sprues; I'm half suspecting that is done due to either a lack of sale in the Marines/Japanese and perhaps liquidate inventory, asthey are pretty much the last of the old types of kits and would need to new sprue. Not sure if I'm gonna buy that box, maybe split it with my friend who's got a japanese army, but he's got infantry covered, he might get the JapaParas. I'm looking into Marines as my next army actually, keep sorta in theater, as I'm currently making a Chinese Nationalist Army- There's a lack of Americans 'round my part, short of an Airborne Army, and GIs looks to 'generic' to me; plus the Marines sprues are a good mix of fixed and loose arms; reminds me of the Blitzkrieg box.

Pretty much on the same page with you. I think this box set is well made to entice people to get into a lesser bought army. That goes doubly so when you consider how many Pacific Campaign books they have. Campaign books are cool but I dont think anyone goes out of their war to build an army for one. Instead they buy ones relative to their faction/theater.
