Thank you for showing how to build them in a balanced way! I'm starting a US force, but bought this box instead, because there's not many (actually none at all) Bolt Action players in my area. I intend to build up the US side and keep the rest in the box and play it like a regular board game.

I actually got this set for half price (store discount, not warlord discount) because I wanted to start painting historics. Figuring out how to build the half track gun was a nightmare.

Thanks this was extremely helpful for putting this box together you just get so many extra parts and it's tough when this is your first box and your unsure how to get the most out of it for its intended purpose as well as what's a good place to start an army from this definetly helped clear things up a ton and truly I am grateful sorry if this is somewhat incoherent I'm exhausted from the kit

I've been thinking about getting into Bolt Action for a while and decided I'm going to. Going to watch the Island Assault video as well and see if its worth buying one of the boxes so one of my friends can get into it too.

the pin markers are fine the only thing you need to do is painting the foot of the marker black and the numbers white.

I will have to try this game sometime.

I'm a noob, i bought this to get started. I'm really liking your advice on how to build these units, that was the exact advice I was looking for. Follow up questions: - what do the suitcase icons represent in your build advice? - if I wanted to build up a modest US and German force using this box set, where should I go from here?

Those are German Ammo Boxes to represent Loaders. Every LMG should have a loader. I have another video on my channel on How to Get Started in Bolt Action. It shows you where to go from here. But to put it simply, grab an infantry box for both forces.

It's not a waste if you plan to build off it. Almost every mini will come into play in the future at some point.

I started out with this set. It’s definitely not the worst decision I’ve ever made. Here are some observations I made: 1. The forces in the set are not balanced at all. If you are playing games with just what’s provided in the box, 12 more infantry is so much more valuable than a halftrack. In my beginning games, the germans lost every time. 2. The light anti tank gun for the hanomag is a weird inclusion in this set when the Americans do not have any armor, not even a Jeep. It looks cool but the pintle mmg is much more useful 3. I never used the tokens included in the set, but I do use the pin markers. However I tend to use them as each marker represents one pin, rather than using the dial since they are hard to read. Easier to use them this way since most my opponents now have their own pin markers. 4. The small rule book and reference sheets are pretty handy 5. If you’ve tried some games of Bolt Action, you can look at this set as a way to start and a way to start building both a German and American army. I did not have a gaming group when I bought the set so I added units to each side to keep them balanced but both forces steadily grew into 1000 + platoons.

Hi, great video, I've just bought this box and I'm thinking of converting 2 American laying body's to German laying body's and put German heads on them so that the Germans get an extra LMG team! What do you think of that?

New to bolt action and these models. I am struggling to figure out what hands to use for the 5th German Assualt rifle as it isn’t connected to any arms

I believe there’s a Full arm with cupped Hand on it for miscellaneous stuff. AR goes into that for a running pose I believe.

If you had two BoB box sets would you build both the same as you have here? what might you recommend doing differently with the 2nd box?

All Riflemen for both sides honestly lol. Maybe 4 Assault Rifles for Germans.

Actually they provide You mesure unit, 2 paper 6inch tapes at sheet with rule set :) Also i bought Olive order die pack and they re diffrence in collor tone compare to included in band of brother set ehh

Am I not supposed to build them as the book recommends?

@@HollywoodWargaming Very good. Another question-I am assembling these per your recommendations right now. The loaders and the MG42's-if i had bigger bases, do I want to base them on the same base? Havent gotten that far in the rules yet, so not sure if it is better to have them separate. I just have seen some pictures of two man machine gun teams on the same base. Thanks in advance.

A friend of mine already has 500pts of Nazis and I'm just getting started. So we're gonna split the box. He's getting all the German stuff and I'm keeping the US units, the rulebook, and all the bits. So it's gonna be $62 each.
