​@@sam8374 Tbf Volk didn have a good rehydration. As MMA guru pointed out, when Volk was head kicked his belly was wobbling like a pudding. Volk is usually in tip top shape and it is understandable since he had to complete a drastic weight cut.

Training for a fight requires an opponent specific strategy and fitness. As for the strategy Volk showcased he had the right strategy in the first fight - so no work needed there. As for fitness it's not like Volk got sparked after he was gassed. This was a first round knockout and the 11 days notice doesn't even come into it. Compare it to Kumaru who had slightly less notice but lasted 3 rounds against khamzat. In fact had it been a 5 rounder Kumaru probably would have won.

Ring rust would matter over a 5 round decision, a first round KO however is purely technical and would likely happen over a 5 rounder. As for prep skills for eachother, they both only had 12 days.

Volk fans were saying with short notice he'll have no pressure and he'll come out swinging like Bisping did against Rockhold. Now they changed their tune and the short notice instead of being their advantage it's now their excuse.

It is not 12, it is 13 wins in a row in a lightweight division.

At the end of Islams career we might be talking about him being the greatest fighter in ufc history. Crazy to think about. Especially since he started his ufc career being ko'd. Then lived in Khabibs shadow for quite a few years.

He needs to fight Colby or Leon whilst the co-main should be Gaethje vs Oliveira. The winner of that fight should fight the winner of the main card.

Would have liked to see this rematch with volk having a full fight camp but congrats to islam on going in there and taking care of business

Everybody seem not to notice the moment that in their first fight, on top of the big jet lag, Islam was given only 12 hours after the weighing while in other circumstances they would have 24 or 38 (?) hours to hydrate. No wonder then the fight got so close. Here there was no big jetlag and enough yime to recover after weighing. Except this time Alex took it rather on a short notice.

And now he came to this second fight in very stupid way, he should have said no when not possible to come in normal shape. That is his own fault naturally. But I would like to see them figh so, that both are in normal physical shape and sharp. This extreme weight losing leaves some question marks to all who understand anything about dangers to take off weight too fast. It's possible but it's big risk too. Human body is not a game thing which can be readjusted just like that.

He beat him at lightweight after a full training camp. This hasn’t changed anything for me in terms of p4p. Volk coming off the couch at 11 days notice against a world champion was always a bad idea. Shame we won’t get to see the proper fight between two properly prepared fighters we all wanted.

Excuses excuses excuses! Volk literally had a 10 pound advantage! He cuts to FTW. This time,he had to cut 10 less pounds. And hudration time was 36 hours instead of 24 hours. Also Volk in an interview said that he was training since 4 weeks before he got the call. Granted that's still less time than 8 weeks,but he was mentally prepared.
