Is this the rustiest Jaguar in the world? Car & Classic - The Rescues
This time, on Car & Classic - The Rescues, your host Chris Pollitt teams up with Jonny Smith to invade a forgotten Somerset farm. Brimming with derelict classics, the guys happen upon a Jaguar MkIX that has been parked in the same spot for at least 43 years. Untouched for all that time, the once majestic Jag is now a wreck. However, it's a great basis for a fascinating explore, and there may just be some useful parts to salvage!
If you can make use of the parts, email chris.pollitt@carandclassic.com
Also, be sure to check out Jonny's @TheLateBrakeShow KZread channel.

Please do a whole series on unearthing all these cars. And I want to see someone build a special out of that Jag. The minute it turned out the chassis was sound I thought it HAS to happen.
The weather the Brits have to deal with is brutal. Here in California, if it happens to be raining, you just say, "Screw it!", and go the next day. The Brits just have to go and work in the rain, because it may be raining for a week or more.
This was brilliant, really entertaining. Please make more guys.
I worked with Jonny a few times back in the 2000's, he was a great guy then and nice to see he hasn't really changed.
One of the most enjoyable 38mins of KZread content i've watched in a very long time. Congrats chaps!
Nice work guys. The camera work and music made it feel like a proper TV program.
The quality of filming is great. Love it.
Best - video - ever.
Love that Calibra looks like it could be saved Johnny Smith is one of the best car presenters out there excellent stuff
Anything with Jonny in it is definitely worth watching and this was a most enjoyable way to spend 40mins. Even the miserable wet horrible weather never dampened his enthusiasm. Some great one liners in there too.👍👍👍👍👍
I owned two MK IX's in the 1970's...this video nearly brought me to tears. Such stately and fine automobiles should never be treated like that.
That is a Mk8. It will have a 3.4 litre engine, drum brakes and no power steering, unless it was swapped about decades ago. Mark 9s had discs, 3.8 engine and power steering as standard. Apart from badges, and different rear lights on late 9s, they look identical. Mark 7s had a split screen and different trim. Heartbreaking to see it like this, but those parts will help other projects.
Hands down probably one of the best most interesting videos i have ever seen on KZread for years please please can you do more like the citreon next ? And give us updates of parts that where salvageable ! Honestly what a amazing video 👍
Love it!!! I live in Somerset and there is an abandoned quarry near where I live. Near the path there is the remains of a Mk 3 Cortina. All there is left is the transmission tunnel, some of the outriggers, the back axle and the front wishbones. Apparently it got there because some teenage tearaway in the seventies took it and drove it over the cliff. Apparently he still lives in the town and has grandchildren living locally.
Glad to see parts going to good use. hopefully at least one car can be saved.
Imagine the Jaguar being driven out of the dealership with delivery miles back in the day.
Really excited to see more from this wonderful hoard (particularly the Citroen GS and the kit car). So glad you guys are rescuing these beauties from oblivion.
+1 Car & Classic - Excellent video but it's so tragic that once gorgeous Jaguar was simply left to rot. With almost nothing left but a rusted hulk this video sort of reminds me of watching the original Bob Ballard footage of the newly discovered Titanic way back in the mid-1980s.
We did this last summer and got an ‘87 Rangie running...LOVE these kind of videos!
And under the Jag,a Saxon hoard! Great vid chaps.
