I got the chance to check out a few of Audi's current range so I immediately ran for the RS4, a car I've been a massive fan of for a while.

There are so many good cars in this space but this could well be my favourite... what others should I go and drive?

I just sold my f80 m3 and was in the market for the rs4/5, x3m, (but not the new m3) and ended up buying a brand new Alfa Giulia QV in MonteCarlo Blue. Would recommend you try one! It would look great beside your 812 too.

@@sammooresphoto yeah it’s a great all rounder, the facelift helped improve the interior too. Maybe a Stelvio QV? However I’d have picked the RS4 ahead of it myself. Oh and congratulations on the F40 sale.

I just love the shade of green that Audi chose for this particular RS model. The Cotswolds are always a lovely place to drive around.

You’ve clearly got over your finger print marks ocd from the S4 2017 review, how is the suspension compared to an S4 not too hard for daily drive 🏎💨

Yeah haha, I’ve accepted touch screens get touched. Suspension is pretty good, you can get it on air and that’s better than the s4.

This is * indeed * the perfect car and people are obviously willing to pay top Satoshi for it - which explains why VAG/Audi is reluctant releasing the electric version of what would be a killer wagon (yes yes I know it's coming but obviously saving the best for last)

Lovely colour, should have a pano roof though! Do you not find Audi's performance completely benign? I had an S5 (sportback) similar to yours tuned to 444bhp, it would do 0-60 in 4 seconds on a wet January day but I couldn't feel any of it, was utterly, utterly dull and bereft of any feedback or sensation. The steering was awful. it was a great 'car' though, quiet, competent, everything worked but it was so very dull! We drove it to Interlaken from London and I can't even remember the journey. If you want a normal car that goes fast it ticks the box, but it is not a sports car by any stretch of the imagination. it made me think a standard A4 would be just as good as there is zero pleasure to be derived from driving the S4 / RS4 (I have had one of those too) fast, its just totally numb so save your money go with the standard 2.0L petrol car. Not sure what similar new car I would try as I have the same dilemma so I bought an E46 330i SE (not sport) 4 door manual, cloth seats, with just 13k miles on the clock and must say it is so much more fun than the S5 and RS4 were and a fraction of the cost, in fact I don't even want to sell it and that's rare!

I’ve got a 2019 RS4… totally agree with this, great car but it’s not engaging in the slightest. You almost forget you’re in it after 5 minutes.

@@Cad79 I would like to try one back to back with their 'standard' car as I think it would not be too far behind especially as there is little point in pushing an Rs or S dynamically as they do fall to bits. However they really are nice cars but they don't need and cant cope with the additional performance.

  • @Cad79

Yep agreed! I suppose it depends what you want it for. I’ve always wanted a fast wagon and got the opportunity to try one whilst in I’m a period of doing limited miles. I’d thought it would be fun on some fairly dynamic roads near me and it is to a point but I’d say 1) it’s too fast to use to its full potential 2) not engaging, I think a 330i is probably more usable and fun 3) expensive considering you don’t usually use most of the performance. However - bonus is it looks awesome, it’s pretty rare and has solid residuals… I sort of wish I’d have gone for a Guilia QV though… abit late now! 😂

This one did have a pano roof! You are spot on though, it’s a very good way of getting from a to b but it doesn’t provide much driving enjoyment. As you say the powertrain is just pulling paddles and some speed. My s4 did exactly the same, just a nice place to be with a bit of poke but not encouraging you to push it down a back road. I too would like to try a vorsprung normal petrol model. I’m keen to have a go in an Alpina, cushty ride and possibly a touch more interesting

It's the B9.5 Audi wimped out on making it look like a Toyota. Look for the RS4 B9 for the same if not even more aggressive front facia as the C7 RS6 (I'm sure you're not referring to the SUV styled RSQ8 front of the C8). On and the touch screen is trash like most on VAG.
