I’m sorry but there was no accounting for the offer from the distributor for 700,000 units per skew. If he pulls that deal off, all of a sudden the turnover is tens of millions. The dragons bullied this man into a deal based on the negative feedback from Peter and Deborah. I hope he had a change of heart after the den and re-negged.

You need to think a little bit beyond the basics. You're getting 3 dragons that have the potential to blow the business up in a big way. All they need to do is make the business worth double the value and the guy is better off financially. And they have the potential to make the business 10 or 20 times larger than he could do on his own. That's the difference between 100% of a million or 55% of 20 million.

How so? The guy is an inventor, his business was barely existent. He barges in with a valuation so sky-high it's barely worth discussing. His only idea of moving the business forward was to hire someone else to do it for him... Using Dragon's investment... By not by Dragons themselves so that they wouldn't have high equity. That's so backwards! Of course they are insulted by this and either insult him back or offer money for half his company - which is entirely reasonable (Touker literally says "you develop and we'll sell it). Deal was signed, company is still active. How are the Dragons in the wrong? Are you expecting them to pat him on the back for the effort? That's not how the business world operates

It made 35k turnover in the third year. That's not even the profits yet. Even if you miraculously make half that into profit (normally you'll be lucky to have 10% of the turnover) then that makes it 17.5k profit split into investors. If you owned 50% of that company, you get 8.75k a year for 85k investment. It would take you 10 years to get your money back if even that. That's putting your time and money in for basically 1/5 a normal wage job. The more you own of a company the more work you'd have to do because nobody else will do it other than the people who own the company. You're better off putting that 85k in a time desposit. Probably get 3% and keep the 85k and 2.5k interest per year, which compounds every year and makes even more money for no work at all.

All the commenters about the high equity amount need to use their imagination! Three dragons have the potential to make the business 10, 20 or more times larger then he could ever do himself. It could be the difference between 100% of a million or 55% of 20 million+

I was afraid he won't take the deal cuz what his valuation showed us that he's uneducated when it comes to the businesss side of it so if it was me with them asking 45% of the business, i would give it without thinking simply for 2 reasons : - the first one I need mentors to get me straight and get me the business knowledge I need if i want to start an other business. -Second reason : I already invent things so this is just me getting my feet wet in the business world, so with what i said when it comes to the need of mentorship so in the near future i'll be capable of running my business on the both sides, so i wish him luck

Seen this happen way too many times. One thing about going on the show is that you are not pitching only to the investors there. There are other people watching. 700,000 units per sku for 85??..cant he get a loan??. Dragons are not the only ones with connections!
