I would not put most of the blame on OnlyFans for this my search light would target Instagram as the major influencer in this. Girls follow lots of influencers and their seemingly luxurious lifestyle and they start having dreams of living like them. Since most regular work for young people will never afford them that life style they somehow think that getting a OF account and start producing lewd content is the way to go. Unfortunately very few girls on the platform ever become rich from it, for most girls on the platform they only make enough to get by in life and not much else and that is not what they dreamt of!

They then instituted a strict ban on any adult content (with a broad definition) which hit large parts of their user base. In 2019 their parent company sold them off for 3 million dollars. I see a similar future for OnlyFans.

Yes, they can simply move to another platform. Here's why they'll take a major hit. Onlyfans became THE place to be, which played a huge part in the number of subscribers they had. When they switch to another platform, there will be a major SPLINTERING of the consumer base. The same way you see a drop in subscribers or followers for most people when they move from a major platform like youtube or instagram or twitch, to a smaller platform. Their most loyal fans will follow them yes, but the more casual people won't. And yes, the ones who just post pictures wont be affected, this is true.

I agree with you completely. I'm a bit confused by the massive reaction, because so many girls claim they don't even do nude stuff. All that's being banned is full on sex or masturbation content. Jokes aside, wholesome paid-for content like that would actually be more appealing to me than nudity. Like, if it's a celebrity you're a fan of a content creator on YT, a singer or an artist who you enjoy following, and they make a special feed, perhaps showing an insight into their talents, teaching you a bit about their skills e.g. if they're a painter or musician, livestream where you can chat with them etc...its wholesome and you're paying because you LIKE them as a person and wanna support their ventures!

Musician here and I’ve seen 3 personal musician friends of mine ask about whether it’s “another new venue” for spreading music now. Time will tell. But musicians are always desperately looking for other platforms to get their music in front of people. It sounds weird but maybe it will actually work?

There aren't many jobs though. And not many that pay a living wage unless you've gotten a degree at the very least, and living as a student is so financially difficult (not all of us were lucky to do it in 2-4 years with a grant/loan either). The cost of living is so high, some people live in rural areas with little or no public transport, let alone jobs, or can only find jobs that harm their mental or physical health. It's not as simple as 'go find another job', otherwise there wouldn't be as many only fans creators out there. I'm 27 and still studying for my degree and I have debts. Life problems and my mental health got in the way for a few years. I live in the countryside without a car and there are no jobs where I live, and if there is, it's usually not one I can do. I'm lucky I have a financially secure family otherwise I would probably have to had used onlyfans for an income. I hate not being financially independent at this age, and I'd admit it has tempted me over the years for that reason though I probably couldn't stretch to posting anything too explicit.

You make a point that I always bring up IRL- when you create your own "business" based on someone else's platform, you're at the mercy of that platform. As you say if you're on KZread and YT decides to prohibit a given kind of material, you have to follow those rules or whatever Tyga did- start your own. That said, Only Fans will probably crash and burn. No one likes bait-and-switch, and they only became popular because of the porn they're now banning.

Making money online is a very volatile thing whether it’s OF, KZread, Twitch, etc.. Thinking that you’ll be able to just eat off of what you make online without any worries for the future is very financially irresponsible, especially when a lot of these content creators want to splurge as soon as they make a lot of money. Kevin Samuels tried to warn OF girls about this on Fresh&Fit’s podcast but they wouldn’t listen and I imagine a lot of sex workers weren’t thinking about things like this. the issue with Onlyfans is that the whole platform was built on the back of 18+ content, and most content creators do 18+ content... the Onlyfans bigwigs, want more money (greed has no limits) so they want big investors, but the big investors dont want to be associated with 18+ content.. now the catch 22 is, if they really fu.. the 18+ content creators, then they will move, and a big portion of revenue will be gone, which will look bad on the balance sheet, in which case investors might not find the business not anymore viable..

The damage is done100%. 85 % of girls have even lost their way because of onlyfans.

I own a semi-truck, and my pre-tax income just this year alone will be between $130-200k. Next year will be better. I can look forward to seeing that consistently for 25-40 years, because logistics/shipping is always in demand. It’s hard, lonely work, but it is not gender-exclusive. Is it harder for women to get into? Yes, but that chiefly depends on whether or not rookie women drivers will accept a male trainer at their first driving job, or want to wait for a female trainer. Average pay for most company truckers runs $55-75k/year, while owner-operators like me can earn over $200k. Trucking could do with more women drivers, anyway. Not enough men are signing up to fill the gaps left by veteran driver retirements.

@@narc699 what's stopping you? Trucking is what I changed careers to, and while not everyone's situation is the same, the need for drivers, even in local jobs, is through the roof. Even if your only option to get your CDL-A is a local community college and it costs $7000+ there are trucking companies that include tuition reimbursement as part of a new driver's starting pay package. Even if you needed to be home daily and couldn't be out over the road for days or weeks at a time, the jobs are there, as is the money. You might look into it and decide it isn't for you in the end, but if your current situation is one you want to change, I recommend you at least consider it. It has changed my life for the better.

Probably a combination of insecurity, needing validation from men (maybe a father wasn’t present in the home), celebrities (like Cardi B) making songs about selling sex for money under the guise of empowerment, single men feeling lonely during the pandemic, and easy money. It’s sad.

Once OF institute this new policy a large portion will lose interest and abandon platform because they want the hard core stuff. When that happens the entire platform will collapse into oblivion similar what happened to Tumblr when they did the same thing over there. I think JustForFans or Fansly (most similar to OnlyFans) will have a good chance of becoming the new place for creators of lewd content.

Sex work = prostitution. One of the oldest professions. I do know a guy that gives drum lessons on only fans, I've never seen it he just told me about it and he does make a little bit of money on that platform.

The problem with Courtney is that she gives false hope that there are decent women left.

OnlyFans needs to do total rebranding to survive, just like Courtney, I think what in top of the head of most people when hearing about only fans is porn/nudity

I love watching all these people go in to a panic, if I want to give a woman money and her not sleep with me I would get back with my ex, I remember tell a friend that these women are making a lot of money on fans only but I don't think they are saving a single penny they think that this gravy train will last forever

Any carnie can tell you there have always been marks, and there will always be marks. It is sad. I admire your desitre to educate on this, though. Putting a good looking woman in front of the camera with the message that this is a bad idea might reach some. But I am afraid we are too late to stem the tide. We can save some, but there are those whose addiction is too far gone. I admire the compassion, it speaks volumes to who you are. Guys....just don't. Just don't. Save and invest wisely, and you can get a girl to do these things in real life. Which is better? Think long term.

How is this for an idea for those sex workers: Get an education at a tech or trade school, college, or university. Do some basic research and find out what's paying well now and will also be paying well in the future. There are many grants, student loans, and scholarships available if one can't pay themselves. Just a thought.

Only fans have been talking about Banning explicit content for a while now because they want to draw the attention of investors so this isn't new also some of the moderators were over-moderating as onlyfans put it and ended up finding out there a lot of sex trafficking and inter family relationships we're going on using only fans platform and those are some of the things that they wanted to squash to draw investors

I understand that OF did host a lot of very bad stuff, well beyond the usual swathe of vanilla-ish sex content, and its this pressure from payment processors to reduce the potential exposure to very illegal material. This is what they are after, but as I've no intention of having anything to do with OF, I don't really care.

I don't watch Fans Only, anyways, because that stuff is too addictive!

It's only because the sponsor (banks) complained, not out of a respect/concern for it's users....
