I agree with the milk bar stuff being too sweet. I tried baking the birthday cake too using her recipe and it was quite sweet. I imagined the point of milk bar was to re-imagine sweets from when she was a kid, so it made sense that it was sweet. If I made the cake again, I'd try to make it less sweet or something. I really liked the cereal milk ice cream as well ❤

Honestly I remember when they first open it was amazing but the snacks is toooo sweet for my liking now.. it’s a once in a while treat

I second this! Venieros in the East village is a fantastic Italian bakery!!

I thought Milk Bar was too sweet when I went as well, even though I adored learning about the creatlr on Chefs Table. I said I would come back but would have to split my dessert haha

Id suggest getting a black and white cookie. I personally am not a huge fan but i grew up going to new york all the time and its like a classic thing to get. Iconic i guess.

it's funny what surprises us! I liked the compost cookie cos it has some salt and potato chips so balances out that sweetness a bit better than the other sweets.

you need to try bakeries in the other boroughs. you’ll find amazing bakeries in astoria and others in cobble hill

The best cookie is their blueberry cream. It’s inspired by the top of a blueberry muffin. Also, fun fact, back in 2011 when I was first introduced to The Milkbar Pie, it was called Crack Pie. That’s due it being so addictive. Now I prefer the pumpkin version but I still get the original now and then.

Ok I’ve lived here in NYC for a few years now and OK… cereal milk ice cream is good, the red velvet truffles are life-changing you can get them at the West Village location!! The chocolate confetti cookie is amazing, the pie is good, but it’s not a go to, and all their cake flavors are pretty good too!

I'd definitely recommend trying to get your hands on one of those circular croissants while you're here!! They blew up over here in 2022, and one bakery does monthly, limited edition flavors.

You should have got a cake slice. The raspberry cake slices is one of the best I have ever had. The corn cookie is great too. Unfortunately as they expanded some of the cookies aren’t as good as they were but I still love Milk bar.
