The CX-70 is the sweet spot for me. It has the boot space of no other Mazda, doesn’t have the useless 3rd row, has the rear wheel drive we require and the highest scale interior that puts it into real luxury class. I LOVE IT. I don’t care what anyone else says.

Mazda should’ve brought over their CX-60 to North America instead. This CX-70 is just the CX-90 without a 3rd row 💀

I couldn’t agree more lane ! I love the cx 60 it’s perfect ! This cx 70 is awful … it’s the 90 with a third row delete. Just fase out the cx 5 over here and have the 60 take it’s place. But I think we are dreaming … it will never happen

the dumbest marketing campaign ever. Just have options for a 2 row CX-90. All the hype ugh. The CX-60 would increase sales big time - who makes these decisions ???

I was waiting for the CX-70 for so long because I want to upgrade my CX-5 for a more sporty and a little bigger SUV but the CX-90 is way too big. This doesn’t make any sense. I mean, the CX-90 is beautiful but the CX-70 should have been smaller and sportier (maybe a coupe SUV). Now, I guess I’m going to get a Genesis GV70 instead.

Def thought the 70 would be more like the 60… but it’s exactly the same as the 90 with third row deleted. Now I am looking else where. Wish I could just order a cx60 and have it shipped here lol 😂

Mazda, what were you thinking. Please bring the CX-60 to North America.

Yeah the biggest love/hate about the CX-90 is the second row having it's own center console. It makes it difficult to haul some things because there is a center console in the way... But it's nice for passengers So idk. The CX-70 deleting the third row, and hopefully the center console in the second row, opens up a TON of space in the back, which I really miss.

I've been duped! I've been waiting for a brand-new model slightly larger than my CX-5 for months and let pass all Christmas promotions (even an Audi!) on the hopes of getting a CX-60-equivalent by early spring. Now I learn the CX-70 is a 2-row CX-90, too big for me. Bummer!

Same here! I own a CX9 for 7yrs and if I downsize, this won’t be it as too big! Needs to be same size as RAV4 or CRV!

Same here. I passed on any end of the year sale for the perfect size Mazda. They’re going to loose out on many sales now. Not happy with this issue.

I don't have a Mazda or plan to get one and I knew well before Halloween that the CX-70 was going to basically be a 2 row version of the CX-90 with the rear end altered since no need for head room in the 3rd row. Sounds like you guys were asleep at the wheel. I'm not going to get a new Jeep either but they are marked down over $10,000 over MSRP and not too long ago they were more than MSRP. I test drove a CX-90 and it doesn't feel like a big car and way more luxurious than the CX-9.

They should call it the cx-88, it would be more accurate. It won't sell unless it's somehow much cheaper than the 90. Don"t see that happening either. Huge let down. Should have been 190-194".

Mazda, always the brides maid and never the bride. While Toyota and Honda get all the sales, awards and glory. 👰‍♀️ I for one have to admit this CX70 PHEV is a winner. Certainly vastly better than any BMW offering. Mazda targeted BMW SUV’s and are destroying them when compared. With the exception of Porsche, the Germans have fallen fast. The inline 6 engine in this car is similar to the bullet proof b58 in the BMW 340i. Good stuff.

Dropping the roof on the CX-50 was a big mistake, killed a sale for me. The 70 is a 90 with some cosmetic changes, 2 fewer seats and a piano black interior surfaces delete (a good choice). I don't see the 70 pricing all that much lower than the 90 with similar trim levels.

How it could be mid sized SUV, having the same size as CX90..?

Thanks for posting this very informative video. I am going CX-70 and it is due toarrive in July this year. meanwhile I am not sure if I should go for 2 year extended warranty. The asking price is $3900 which seems too much to me. I feel Mazda SUVs are maintenance free and whatever issues comes it would be after 5 or 6 years. Your thoughts?

Though the body is near identical to the 90 something about the CX 70 looks better. I would certainly consider this is my for my next car. let c the price.

Since they only removed the 3rd row seats, it’ll be in the $42K CAD starting price! They have to separate its pricing from CX5 and CX50!

Sadly the closest Mazda dealership is over 100 miles from our area

Would still prefer a Mazda6 Wagon like they have in Australia. More space than a CX-5, with better fuel economy than any of the SUVs.

Thank you Shari for such detailed review. My lease on CX 5 is coming to an end soon and I am on twin mind between CX 50 and CX 70. I will go with CX 70 if I can get a good deal, else its CX 50.

Same case here, but the CX-50 seems to be a lipstick-in-a-pig situation, other than the now standard AWD. To be fair, I haven't driven one, just the CX-90 PHEV, too heavy.

Is the 70 really needed? Lovely ride. Nice interiors from Mazda and those scalloped slab side body designs connect it to their other vehicles, maintaining Corporate design continuity.

I went from totally hyped for this release to meh. Such a let down for a new model.

I've been living Mazda and the effort they put into quality over the years I've been following the brand, but this seems very lazy and lackluster. They should have at least changed the design on the back to be a bit more aggressive than the cx90. Something different. It looks good anyway. I can see ppl opting for the additional row and just fold it in when they don't need it if the cx70 is close in price to the 90

Perfect compromise

My bet is that the pricing will start in the low 40s and go to 60K... I'm really disappointed with Mazda... I was looking for a vehicle about the size of the Honda Passport or Toyota Crown Signia and pricing in the same range... of course, Mazda did not consult with me on this... their loss... I do wish they would come with a hybrid for the CX50 for 2025.

all i ever wanted was a CX-5 that had the spaciousness of a CR-V 😢 the cx-70 (aka the CX-90 Sport) is just too long.

The CX-70 is basically just a rebadged CX-90 with different options & some minor cosmetic changes.

In some sentances you say the C70 and the CX90 are the same size with just the third row seats removed. Other sentances describe the CX70 as smaller than the CX90. What is the real picture, same or smaller?

Sorry for the confusion. They are the same size. Only difference is the third row seat.

Mazda’s choice to make a in line 6 has me intrigued.

It’s one if no 3rd row if we do errands we do not need to put down seats.

Can we trade CX-70 to Europe for the CX-60？

I’d guess the CX-70 pricing will be 6 - 8% lower than the equivalent trim of the CX-90.

If Mazda was a v'logger, we would call all this hype "click bait". Look a new model that is really an old model optioned without the 3rd row. Cmon Mazda you can do better. Maybe spend time redesigning the CX-5, putting a regular hybrid as an option on your cars, or sending someone out to look for a touchscreen.

This CX70 matches everything I have been looking for over the last few years.

I am going to make an educated guess that the CX-70 will only be $1-2k cheaper. It is the same power train, same interior, same dimensions with one less row of seats. I am guessing if you can't afford a CX-90 you still aren't going to be able to afford a CX-70.

The Cx60 and Cx5 share only a make badge. Cx60 is larger better looking on the interior and exterior, has a more powerful engine and has a rear wheel bias awd. Cx 70 is the cx90 without the 3rd row. It even still have the 3rd row cup holders still in it

Mazda didn’t need to make a small, cheaper CX70 because they know most Americans will be willing to pay more for a bigger SUV.
