I got a full tank of gas yesterday in my 2021 MT07 and discovered roads that I never even existed, so close to me. I spent several great hours riding. It was such a sole full filling day.

I have a 2021 MT-09 too. Instead of using the gas gauge, you can use the fuel consumption option in the instrument selection menu. It is much more accurate.

I think after the fuel light is triggered, the trip meter flips over to an "estimated range left" countdown mile meter.

Yamaha should make a mt07 sp.. man I would love that

@@vireshh1059 I have heated grips, windprotectors in front of my levers, good laminated Gore-Tex clothing with removable insulation, Gore-Tex gloves with and without heating. Temperatures can drop as low as -10 degrees celcius.

OC: I had a feeling it would do really well it's a great all around bike. But you are spot on with the suspension not being set up for daily commute riding... but it's not hard to make it soft during the week and stiffen it up on the weekends for those spirited rides on the back roads. Just write down how many clicks and that way you know exactly how many clicks to set it back.

OC: Yep, hwy ride with cruise is one bag of money, add the windscreen and you can get 2 money bags. I've enjoyed it thoroughly. Also....great video as always.

OC Fell in love when i testrode one and almost immediately ordered one after the ride. Its was a huge change coming from the godfather of MT, the MT01 but im loving every second on my sp Highway with a screen makes a huge difference. I got the touring screen from the weekend pack and it really helped out alot with the wind

Ive been researching this bike as thinking of getting a 2023 mt09 SP in January abd its looking very much that i will get it heard great reports of it. OC: yes I knew it was going to be good. I have the base model because it’s impossible to find the sp in the north east. I’m 5’6” 285lbs and I’m so in love with it. I feel like when I was a new rider all over again. I find every excuse to ride it. I can’t remember the last time I rode in the 30’s on a bike without wind protection and I’ve already done it twice in the past week. I can ride it for longer and be more comfortable than on my softail so that’s how confident I was that you’d like it because that bike has the bonus of cruise control

Yes, I have owned one for several months so I agree with everything you have said. The suspension is a little harsh over the bigger bumps and a screen helps massively. Overall the new MT09SP is a great do everything bike. I can’t wait for your thoughts of it in the mountains, I know it’s awesome and I bet you must have found the same.

Just bought a 2021 mt09 a few days ago, stoked for next year!

Yup I know that feeling of the full tank and the whole day on the open road.Nothing beats it!👍

The Puig touring windshield on my 2020 SP makes a substantial difference at higher speeds - I am confident that by now there is a solution available for the new/current model😊

My only complaint is that the gas gauge doesn’t show anything until you’re half way empty

You know that the average consumption is 5 litres/100 km. So the range is 280 km. Starting with a full tank, you know that you should start looking for a gas station at the 200 km mark😉

OC: I kinda already knew it was gonna be good, especially with the cruise control. I've got a '14 FZ-09 and aside from a bad headwind, it does great on the highway. I can't wait for a demo day to give the new SP a try!

The headwind will be exactly the same it will feel absolutlely no different riding it in a straight line. it has superioir suspension compenents if you don't enjoy twisty roads or track days this would be a pointless upgrade.

YOOOO, I know those pro tips! I'm glad they worked for you bro. OC: with the MT line being mostly good all around, I'm not too surprised. I didn't consider just softening the suspension making it even more versatile. Shouldn't be that hard to do either... good deal!

Chase love th3 content! What’s the comparison to the new monster?

Hey Chase, for riding in and around city and some occasional light touring would you recommend a Tiger Sport 660 over MT-09 non-SP version?

Could you test MT07 and 09 with windscreen, at least the middle one? Otherwise it does not make much sense to test them on highways, where everyone uses windscreens anyway.

I sold my car earlier this year and ended up buying a '21 09 non sp. Use it daily for work and obviously weekend fun and I absolutely love it, always in Mode 1 and TCS M unless it's raining where I'll go mode 2 and tcs 1

Yesterday i have done 13hour on the highway on my fz 150cc here in India my right hand and shoulder was aching cant rest my right arm on tank cause i dont have cruise control..........I was thinking while riding cruise control might ease of fatige if i got one...

Going to be buying a new bike at the beginning of next year and this one is at the top of my list, if I can find one!

Riding into Dahlonega, thats my home town!! Then onto Richard Russell highway, great riding.

What part of the mountains were you riding? I live in south GA and it amazes me how far you had to lean at 50mph where it would take tripple digit speeds to lean over that far on these flat straight roads

I love my 2016 Yamaha FZ09. I adjusted the stock suspension and made it firmer then stock. It’s not as pogo E, Pogostick. Just have to get used to the suspension. I live in Las Vegas and really don’t do that much highway miles. My FZ09 is just like a steroid out supermoto

likewise I got a 2016 but I got Wilbers rear and fork suspension and it makes a world of a difference! still ride it everyday! Just bought a Power Vision 3 From Dynotune, mann does that make a difference in the throttle response!

How many miles did you rack on that trip? Did you had the standard seat on the bike or the optional comfort seat?

OC: with the cruise I figured it would be good. Would love to see a updated highway review if Yamaha would slap a windscreen on it for testing purposes.

I just bought a 23 SP yesterday! Best 25 miles I've have on any vehicle yet!!! Love every bit of it. Definitely needs a windscreen and fender eliminator which are on the way!

With the IMU settings this bike is a great commuter

OC: between 500 and 600 miles, the suspension will adjust to your body weight. It won’t be aggressive/harsh anymore, it will be sporty firm and accurate. The Yamaha screen makes a whole lot of difference. I have the same bike.

That is not how suspension components work... yes the oil breaks down and needs proper servicing depending on how often you ride. You are supposed the adjust the suspension to your riding style and weight depending on the adjustments you have.

@@alexduey7868 unfortunately, I did not adjust nothing. My head stopped vibrating in my helmet after a while. come to think of it, there is no manual for adjusting your weight and ride style with your suspension setting, it is all trial and error.

i love my mt09 i got the comfort seat for it and it solved my only issue with the bike at 8k miles on it so far

I filled the tank on my 07' Yamaha Roadliner 1900C and had a great time for hours.

OC. Nice! I put a deposit down on an Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory, but this bike has my attention also.

OC: Surprised how comfortable it was looking. Gotta be down to the cruise control. Add a wind screen and it be absolutely perfect.

My XSR900 is fun to commute on BUT, this cruise control added to it would make me very happy because I struggle not speeding when commuting primarily and would consider my bike too sporty for commuting in the fact that I have a really hard time not speeding. lol. Cruise control would allow me to set it and leave it alone at 80 or less like you did.

I have that feeling but only for half a day with my 2gal tank. Thanks Triumph

The Aprillia Tuono might be one of the best highway nakeds the half fairings and windscreen probably really help out.

You should bring out the CB1000r stock out again, i think it got some good upgradres. The last review from 2018 wasnt in stock form.

I bought the 2020 mt09 a while back but then moved to florida where 90% of the roads where I live are straight. It does great at highway speeds but I miss the twisties like up north. Though I wish I had the cruise control.

There’s a lot of nice wind screens on revzilla for all kinds of nakeds including the MT09-MT10 etc etc

OC: Would love to see a comparison between this bike and the new xsr900 when it becomes available.

I am curious too, you don't have the larger back section of the seat on the xsr and I've heard multiple reviewers say how nice the mt-09's seat is for highway/commuting.

OC, it was better on the hwy than I expected and our aust highways are slower than yours. I’ve been wondering the tracer9 vs mt I think the mt with the cruise may win

I don't know if it is too sporty for commuting, but for a fact I know how fast and tempting this bike is, definitely wouldn't dare to ride it with a paper hat such as RUROC, you have balls.

OC: I thought it would perform well on the highway. I’m starting to want one for myself.

{Incoming noob question} Had a 150 cc SCOOTA, lol for awhile, took MSF course. Would MT 09 sp be possible to start.. tamable, riding in low modes for several months, etc. I intend on highway riding and disappearing into the mountains when I'm comfortable 3-4 hours away - or go with MT 07 ? Peace !

So how many miles did you do in each Trip?

I have a 2023 MT 09 SP, you can't use full throttle in 1st 2nd or 3rd even in ride mode 3 with traction/lift control 2. These bikes are too fast, too wheelie prone and too twitchie for street use. It will exceed the hiway speed limits in 1st gear. Definitely go with the 07.

I've never seen a windscreen that looks good on a naked bike that a) that doesn't blow a ton of turbulent wind up under my helmet or b) blow a ton of turbulent air at the top / sides of my helmet or c) doesn't do anything at all. Give me all of that good clean air! Or, you know, maybe if I get to the point when I'm 75 years old where I absolutely can't stand to have some wind blow on me, I'd probably just get a bike that was designed to have a proper functional windscreen and fairing.

Do you still think the Mt 07 is the best road bike after riding this one?

OC: Performed about how I figured a naked with cruise control and no windscreen would on the highway. Not terrible but not great either.

I have a Duke 390 and used to have the power restricted version of the MT07 (limited to 52hp). I'm thinking about getting the MT09 SP. I would get an MT07 or XSR700 but the suspension sucks so I just think the MT09 SP is a better buy even if it means I have to save some more money.

If you had a new mt09Sp and a brand new mt10sp right in front of you. Which one would you pick now.

Giving a subjective rating is perfectly valid, but recently the videos have been lacking comparisons with other bikes. Therefore, without being reminded of your preference during rides it is impossible to have a personal reference for you score of 9. Really liked watching your vids before when you referenced other bikes during a review.

What's i've noticed riding my 21 mt-09, up to half (big bar) is about 80 miles and little ones is about 20 miles per. I usually get about 140 miles full tank on 91(CA) gas filling up 3.34ish gallon.

I don't commute but when I ride on my stock tune I get around 40-43mpg and with my aftermarket tune it's around 50.

So, think this could make a bike for occasional long trips? a windscreen, Soften the suspension and throw on some sadlebags? I'd think so. I had a bike with similar Ohlins (I believe these are similar to my R1M) and I could make it where the suspension would be good enough for riding in the city, just that that bike didn't care to be riden "calmly" (ig to got, etc), but then I could stiffen it up for aggressive riding/track days. Looking now for a Naked bike, and between this (SP version), XSR900, and MT-10 are my top choices now. I want a sporty bike that will commute and be good for the occasional trip or track day (rather than have two bikes)

Ohlins are always toward the firmer side regardless of adjustability.

Why not get the Tracer? It has bags and wind protection.

My bike has range of 500km (310miles) and something. So if I want to burn all my gas it is super long day of riding. So the feeeling you are talking about is so much more powerfull :D

I don't have an issue with the gas gauge , I always refuel my vehicle at around 3/8 tank and if I go on a trip I am aware of roughly how far I have travelled since the last fill.

Have a look in the menu it has a fuel consumption feature and counstdown from 14ltrs accurate as fuk reset it after every fill

I feel like the MT-09 is a bit raw and spicy for commuting but I know about you sickos out there that are into that kind of thing

Finding it hard to decide on this bike or Street triple RS. Like the looks of the Triumph better but the MT-09 has cruise control.

I love the Z900 but it’s not as much fun as the new MT09. Still a great everyday bike though. Different characteristics, the in-line four likes to be revved out more.

no fairing for long road trip would kinda suck and i would have adjusted those clickers right away........soften up compression 3 or 4 clicks......actually first thing is to make sure they are in the standard setting to begin with......be surprised how bikes ive bought where clickers werent even close to the factory stock setting.........suspension is the make or break for any motorcycle.....its the first thing i start messing around with

Yamaha Super Nekad is really marvelous. The best design among the super nekad are the MV Agusta Dragster/Brutale and Kawasaki Z1000, Z900 & Z800.. other brand do have the look of super naked as the fuel tank do not have the nekad design.

Öhlins suspension, carbon wheels, and an after market full exhaust will make this bike the only one you can have

I’m trying to find a new 21 SP or a 22 SP !!! Let me know if you know where any are Prefer 22 You got me sold on this

Since I am considering a MT09 as well for commuting (45min drive to work), I was wondering one ergonomic issue.....my knees are buggered by small knee angle on my current bike (Fzs600) after 30 min drive. Question for MT09: is the distance seat-to-foot-pegs ok?...or is it cramped seating (small knee angle) I am 180cm/5ft11 tall

Yes i know that full gas tank feeling but this 70 year old Down Under usually keeps going for a few days when i get that feeling .😁

The king of highways for the price is my Kawasaki Concours with an ATLAS MOD for cruise control wind protection with is huge fairing electronic ajustable windscreen 1400 cc 158 hp and 137 nm of torque 101lbft its a missile on the highway and for commute in town with is inline 4 engine its smooth i can do 50 kmh in 6 gears with no problem.

Glad to say the 2024 MT-09 updates fixed all the ugliness about the MT styling. Also made cruise control part of the base model, fixed the switchgear, gave it a 5" TFT that can actually be read, increased quickshifter function, improved suspension rates, added custom settings modes, lowered the tank, handlebars, increased steering lock-to-lock angle, converted it to a double seat, USB-C port under the passenger seat, mobile phone integration with display, better headlight design sitting lower on the forks, better tail light design. New Brembo master cylinder. And more.

The fuel gauge is the same on my m109r but honestly get to know your bike and know what you get per tank.
