Exactly my thought. Lots of newly build cars are awful, full of plastic and touch panels. They are horrible. But look at this beauty. You can get there new technology and what-not, but the basics (1990-2005 before it all went rogue) are awesome.

YES! New Redriven vid
Owned one for about 12 months, took me almost that long to replace the bushings which were all flogged out in the rear suspension. VERY hard to get spares, and very little in common with normal Pajeros. Was surprisingly good on fuel, better than the NS 2008 V6 which was my daily drive. Would love to have taken it offroad, but I was too scared in case I bent something!
Pajero Evos are amazing beautiful machines. I would love to add one to my fleet if Mitsubishis. Great video and review.

Always liked the "PajEvo", Couldn't afford one, so went with a J-top, not as fast as the Evo, but so much fun driving with the roof down. The handling of Pajero's, yeah it is hard to explain, but for me our convertible is just fun, predictable body roll balance thing going on just makes you smile.

Fantastic review Adam, I’m also in love with these, for exactly all the reasons you mentioned. I love Mitsubishi’s 6G7 series V6 engines, very torquey and smooth motors. JDM goodness, with maximum TBTL. So many JDM nuggets of wonder to import.
The other vehicle that gives me that same unexplainable infusion on energy is the Renault R5 Turbo. Come to think of it, the R5T and PajEvo are similar in some respects... Both Homologation specials, both 2 door w/fiber fender flares, and both have similar wheelbases and "off-road" intentions.
The rear seats can be reclined for a better relaxed position. There's a hidden lever down below😉

These have wishbone suspension in the front and back, that's why it's so good at holding the angle when you corner with it. The problem with this car is it's a cool, rare car, but it's not a "classic." Therefore there's not much of a community around it; you won't find a lot of people who can work on those "irreplaceable" body panels for you. I'd be scared to death of actually driving it

Best to buy a new pajero sport exceed fully decked out with accessories, long range fuel tank and a Dyno tune, there's your truly off road rig with latest tech. This thing is fantastic but my favourite Pajero is one that was only a concept, the Pajero Evo 2 Concept with a 4.5L V8 (Mitsubishi Dignity and first gen Hyundai Equus had this engine). It looks even cooler and the Pajero Sport later on adopted this design, unfortunately it had an engine with less power than the standard Pajero and a 4 speed auto. Shame.... the diesel model is ok.
Thank you for the great work. Very genuine and honest explanation. If you can please share details of spare parts dealers PAJERO in Japan. How to source from India.. thank you. Mitsubishi abandoned and vanished from India.. customer is suffering.

Still not getting what makes them good. Like I get at the time and they have a racing pedigree that’s hard to beat. But as a car, I dunno. Additionally I’ve stopped this right into Jim’s talk and gotta say, I’m quite over it. The framing / manipulation based on personal bias is just a bit much. Jim’s sitting there talking about how they leak oil pretty much everywhere, but you know, that’s to be expected. Yet a BMW leaks some oil, oh it’s a POS. Badly made, badly engineered, overpriced garbage. Like come on, are oil leaks ‘bad’ or only when it suits the narrative? Kind of expect better because I absolutely love this channel!
@ReDriven
10 ай бұрын
Really valid point mate, and you're right, we should explain in more detail. The Pajero can leak but by no means a huge amount, and even then it's due to rubber grommets and seals simply deteriorating over 25 years, and that's to be somewhat expected. Also, to fix this is generally very affordable as the parts don't ask a premium, yet are durable for about 20 years. We've never said BMW's are a POS, in fact Jim and I both lust after pretty much anything wearing an M badge, but the notorious, plentiful and generally enthusiastic oil leaks occurring on a host of BMW engines, within only a few years of the car being on the road, often with well under 100,000kms on the clock, and due to low quality engine bay plastics, is simply not good enough. Then to add insult to injury, the cost of parts here in Australia are daylight robbery in many scenarios. OEM parts that again will last maybe 7 years, it's not good enough. The issue is, BMW (and all prestige brands) market themselves as offering a premium product, something that is (according to the advertising) apparently engineered and manufactured to the highest quality, hence the premium price and lofty brand identity. This is simply a lie and they need to be called out on it. When a 2006 $4000 Toyota Yaris offers better reliability and longevity than a 2015 $100k Mercedes-Benz S-Class, something is very wrong, and we feel the public needs to be warned not to fall for the marketing and image hype. Also, we will keep an eye on the bias too. Both Jim and I (obviously) love the Pajero Evo and honestly, it could have attempted to stab us in the necks with a blunt pen and we'd still love it, so it can be a challenge to remain impartial but we'll do better next time. Really appreciate the feedback mate, hope we haven't lost you. - AK
@mattdebyl8806

@@ReDriven nah mate, all good. Enjoy your content way too much and it’s not meant as a scathing criticism. I’m no brand loyalist and yeah, these prestige brands do make some utter POS. Mostly just considering the framing of some things. Oil leaks like mentioned are just treated differently. No oil gasket is expensive in parts (I’m sure there are some exceptions). The ‘good’ BMW engines are stout, reliable units. Some would say some of the best engines ever put in a production car. They make plenty of bad ones too. A potential oil leak from a rocker cover gasket, whether it’s on a BMW M52 or a Pajero Evo are roughly the same issue from a buyer perspective. If anything the Evo is slightly greater headache because there are 2 of them (being a V6). So an oil leak like that is pretty similar, regardless of brand. I also totally get having a bias and being more forgiving of certain things over others. I’m also not entirely convinced it’s as simple as one lasts 25+ years and the other only 7 tops. Had plenty of ‘good’ euro engines that don’t leak at all with very high mileage. Again these brands can make some steaming piles with some horrendous design flaws. I teach media production and spend my days analysing media work for a crust, so am probably being overly sensitive. Cars are just a hobby. But I know sure as heck I’d take a BMW NA straight 6 over say a Toyota 2.4 with its inherent issues any day. Same for Kia / Hyundai lumps (of basically any persuasion). BMW 4s (almost all of them), 8s and turbos I pretty much wouldn’t touch. Also modern euro cars and stupidly and needlessly complicated and have been for a while. But so are most cars now, the horror stories over some modern headlights and bumpers with radar systems that are integrated. Boggles the mind! Need a new headlight, yeah that’ll be $6k. New bumper? Oh that’s a replacement of the whole radar system as well. This is in Kias and Toyotas. Anyway, this was way more ranty than it was meant to be. You guys are doing a superb job! Now you’ve just got to go test a 130i. Awesome cars with some annoying design choices! Pretty rare and dare I say special thing though. Nothing else really like it.
