Studio one has a great workflow in the current version and a lot of the stock mixing plugins are pretty good. The instruments are kinda wack, but I use so much 3rd party stuff that I stick with S1. I started on Logic and I used pro tools in audio school, but I honestly prefer S1 workflow.

Facts!
I love the fact of how the perceived loudness gains of increasing the mid-range makes the LUFS constraints of streaming services "almost" a non-issue. I greatly appreciate you all giving us secret technical insights during your discussion on how to achieve "louder" mixes despite the new streaming standards. Thanks for sharing this information!!!
UAD 1176 is 🔥🔥🔥 it comes in the spark bundle so you don’t even need hardware to use

I have the same issue you have with MP3s with MP4s. When I watch on my 12bit 6k footage on my 4k 10bit display or 2k 10bit Macbook pro my jaw falls to the floor, but when it's on KZread or Instagram....... i wanna cry. I pretty much just tell every person i show it to it: "You think that looks good, it looks soooooo much better that this!"

This is one of the reasons why I switched to buying Vinyl Records. Vinyl has that cap when it comes to how loud you can make your Singles and the Albums that those singles appear on. No joke
🎚️Studio one gang in the buildinnnnnnn ‼️😭😭😎😎😎😎
I’d love to hear your thoughts on releasing. E.g. the Russ method vs traditionally waiting 1+ years for a project. In other words, being in people’s faces consistently vs ‘coming back’ with a new project after being illusive and not showing face for while. Love the pod!
love what you do brah im a fan #Australia !
I love the JBL 308p MKII , alot of people sleeping on those. They give a great transparent sound ✨️🎶🎵✨️✨️✨️
No matter how loud a record is it still doesn't compare to commercial records. You can turn those songs all the way up and it doesn't destroy the song. The reverb stays the same. The high end doesn't crumble and the music doesn't distort. So the war isn't in loudness its in dynamics at the top
@helpmedevvon When are the new functions available for the Rosetta EQ?
I love ur plugins bro
I grew up on waves but now I prefer other companies like Arturia, AUD,Gem Overload, PA and Softube.. But I still use RBass, NS1 and Clarity vx
You guys too funny 🤣🤣🤣 Great episode! 😄
I would love to win that Rosetta EQ because it just looks amazing
I agree with Devvon on -10 I'll work to where by ear everything sounds good, which when I check the meters is normally around -10, then to finish off I push it to like -8

Since you all mentioned The God Particle and Tonal Balance Control Pro usage in this video, I'm curious to know how do they sit in your mix/master effects chain, along with other plugins used to get a master that's radio-ready. Would you please make plans to create a video to feature their usage? What you all present here is very empowering and intriguing! Thanks!!!

a video about the way you tame hurtful frequences on loud masters woul be cooool
imo I think purple audio MC77 is a better 1176 model is better then both UAD and Waves and I try both. MC77 is silky smooth and also aggressive ofc
Word tho we definitely knew how many mp3 would fit on our iPods 😂😭
According to Sound on Sound the Yamaha HS8's have a flatter frequency response than the Adam T8V's
Your plugin HMD ROSETTA is dope.. bought it , but my only complaint is there is no bypass either on the plugin or per band, hard to do a a/b comparison when you are using more than one eq band it gets tricky, ,
House producers are at another level in the Loudness War!
I’m a keep using koala and BeatMaker 3 in AUM with a bunch on plugins and more plugins. I dead ass love koala bro shits 🔥
I feel like the loudness war is definitely not over. Dynamics and loudness always competes, but however when done right you get a nice in between. Eq, compression, clipping, limiting in mastering should all be used be not only correctly to achieve such but starts with the mix itself. And oh yea big uad over here, they all wreck waves emulations period point blank lexicon 480l is my baby and sorry Courtney them 76s from uad SLAPS!
Logic is just called Logic Pro now. There is a version number, but just for tracking the version. I think Apple is done with the numbering.

@somelone2401 I don't really need to if you just use it once it will become very self explanatory but... Versatile UI friendly Simple but with powerful features Good looking UI Always bringing new cool features to users I'm mean the list goes on Studio One IMO out performs every other mainstream DAW because it actually listens to there users. PRO TOOLS, LOGIC, CUBE base only relevant because they have been around the longest but honestly they're outdated and lack in basic cool features that would definetly make creating more fun. No to shit on them but Studio One just thinks outside the box more And @helpmedevvon never really talks about this smaller DAWs so it doesn't help bring awareness to these more better looking, power, and versatile DAW's just because they're not industry standars and I hate it. Because Studio One is such a power DAW!

Can y’all get a Studio One representative on the cast? I’m sick of the disrespect. 😂
When LJ started saying put the fruity limiter at the start of the chain, I know shits about to get chaotic 😂
Lol Apple may just come out with a crazy new Logic Pro someday. Not gonna lie, the CLA-76 changed my life as a mix engineer LOL. From the first day I used it, I'll never mix on a record without using it. The CLA-76 may be the only plugin that'll make Renaissance plugins have to go lol. Don't get me wrong! It's a hard choice because I've been a loyal R guy since day 1 lol. Yea, the loudness wars is still happening. This war of loudness really happens within contrast of other songs. When people are listening to other songs at a loud volume and then your song comes on lower than the others, that's when it'll become noticeable. DJs are the perfect example for this test. I've produced a lot of Haitian remixes over the years and I'll go to the club just to hear how my mix sounds in the system. I'll always notice the change in volume. With most online streaming platforms providing a limit cap on LUFs, I believe there's a way to bypass that in the settings of your distributor website. I believe on tunecore's website for example, you can simply uncheck the option of uploading your song(s) at their desired LUFs.

I believe the streaming apps are what do the normalization. On Spotify you have an option, but they do change the peak no matter what to prevent distortion.

Heavy Dawcism on FL lmfaoo
How I see it is that normalization definitely works but if my -12 lufs song still sounds quieter (and don't compete) with others I know I have to much low-end eating away the percieved loudness. Oh and the FL stock eq sounds kinda bad ngl so I switched to TDR nova, much cleaner sounding. I'd say I still go for around negative 10-12 Lufs and play around with the wattage of the low end to get the percieved loudness right. And I mix into the master at around -18 Lufs.
@JochSejoMusic
Жыл бұрын
But if I still want that much bass and low mids I have to cut the highs and make the overall mix even darker. This is why , I think, why heavy rock and metal music have quieter vocals to make up for better low end and guitars to be fuller, and why pop music top 50 has so loud vocals becasue they limit the amount of percieved loudness from the instruments and the low-end until the vocal sits as loud as possible to cut through the best in radio play and on midrange driven average speakers to fullfill a perceived loudness win.
@Wizthehitmaker
Жыл бұрын
So when it’s -17 lufs how to get it to -10
@JochSejoMusic
Жыл бұрын
@@Wizthehitmaker I put it through some clean glue compressor first at the top of the master channel (balance out every peak transient with -17 dB threshold a few dB ) and then EQ it to taste and add some saturation if I feel like it and then final ozone element maximizer to get the final Lufs that I want. (control the peaks / color it / maximize it) is how I do it. The dB gain at the end inside elements is just from -6 dB peak to around -1 dB peak. *so a 5 dB peak gain. So the mix is -18 Lufs with -6 dB peak into the master fader, and the master channel compresses it + 6 Lufs to -12 Lufs. *with a final overall 6 Lufs gain.
@JochSejoMusic
Жыл бұрын
but to get a -7 Lufs song it would be compressed +11 LuFS with the same +5 dB peak gain. But I like to keep the peak gain and Lufs gain close in numbers no matter the input loudness. if the mix is -20 Lufs I do +8 Lufs and +8 peak gain (for a final -12 LUFS -1 True Peak). and so on...
