    Studio one has a great workflow in the current version and a lot of the stock mixing plugins are pretty good. The instruments are kinda wack, but I use so much 3rd party stuff that I stick with S1. I started on Logic and I used pro tools in audio school, but I honestly prefer S1 workflow.

    I love the fact of how the perceived loudness gains of increasing the mid-range makes the LUFS constraints of streaming services "almost" a non-issue. I greatly appreciate you all giving us secret technical insights during your discussion on how to achieve "louder" mixes despite the new streaming standards. Thanks for sharing this information!!!

    No matter how loud a record is it still doesn't compare to commercial records. You can turn those songs all the way up and it doesn't destroy the song. The reverb stays the same. The high end doesn't crumble and the music doesn't distort. So the war isn't in loudness its in dynamics at the top

    @somelone2401 I don't really need to if you just use it once it will become very self explanatory but... Versatile UI friendly Simple but with powerful features Good looking UI Always bringing new cool features to users I'm mean the list goes on Studio One IMO out performs every other mainstream DAW because it actually listens to there users. PRO TOOLS, LOGIC, CUBE base only relevant because they have been around the longest but honestly they're outdated and lack in basic cool features that would definetly make creating more fun. No to shit on them but Studio One just thinks outside the box more And @helpmedevvon never really talks about this smaller DAWs so it doesn't help bring awareness to these more better looking, power, and versatile DAW's just because they're not industry standars and I hate it. Because Studio One is such a power DAW!

    Lol Apple may just come out with a crazy new Logic Pro someday. Not gonna lie, the CLA-76 changed my life as a mix engineer LOL. From the first day I used it, I'll never mix on a record without using it. The CLA-76 may be the only plugin that'll make Renaissance plugins have to go lol. Don't get me wrong! It's a hard choice because I've been a loyal R guy since day 1 lol. Yea, the loudness wars is still happening. This war of loudness really happens within contrast of other songs. When people are listening to other songs at a loud volume and then your song comes on lower than the others, that's when it'll become noticeable. DJs are the perfect example for this test. I've produced a lot of Haitian remixes over the years and I'll go to the club just to hear how my mix sounds in the system. I'll always notice the change in volume. With most online streaming platforms providing a limit cap on LUFs, I believe there's a way to bypass that in the settings of your distributor website. I believe on tunecore's website for example, you can simply uncheck the option of uploading your song(s) at their desired LUFs.

  • @JochSejoMusic
    @JochSejoMusic Жыл бұрын

    How I see it is that normalization definitely works but if my -12 lufs song still sounds quieter (and don't compete) with others I know I have to much low-end eating away the percieved loudness. Oh and the FL stock eq sounds kinda bad ngl so I switched to TDR nova, much cleaner sounding. I'd say I still go for around negative 10-12 Lufs and play around with the wattage of the low end to get the percieved loudness right. And I mix into the master at around -18 Lufs.

  • @JochSejoMusic

    @JochSejoMusic

    Жыл бұрын

    But if I still want that much bass and low mids I have to cut the highs and make the overall mix even darker. This is why , I think, why heavy rock and metal music have quieter vocals to make up for better low end and guitars to be fuller, and why pop music top 50 has so loud vocals becasue they limit the amount of percieved loudness from the instruments and the low-end until the vocal sits as loud as possible to cut through the best in radio play and on midrange driven average speakers to fullfill a perceived loudness win.

    So when it’s -17 lufs how to get it to -10

  • @JochSejoMusic

    @JochSejoMusic

    Жыл бұрын

    @@Wizthehitmaker I put it through some clean glue compressor first at the top of the master channel (balance out every peak transient with -17 dB threshold a few dB ) and then EQ it to taste and add some saturation if I feel like it and then final ozone element maximizer to get the final Lufs that I want. (control the peaks / color it / maximize it) is how I do it. The dB gain at the end inside elements is just from -6 dB peak to around -1 dB peak. *so a 5 dB peak gain. So the mix is -18 Lufs with -6 dB peak into the master fader, and the master channel compresses it + 6 Lufs to -12 Lufs. *with a final overall 6 Lufs gain.

  • @JochSejoMusic

    @JochSejoMusic

    but to get a -7 Lufs song it would be compressed +11 LuFS with the same +5 dB peak gain. But I like to keep the peak gain and Lufs gain close in numbers no matter the input loudness. if the mix is -20 Lufs I do +8 Lufs and +8 peak gain (for a final -12 LUFS -1 True Peak). and so on...
