    It's not just the climate. It's the whole of the environment including biodiversity preservation/ flourishing etc. - BUT (I believe ?) the climate is focused upon because of its ability to get ppl's attn as they otherwise may not care enough about the rest. (Ie loss of species of plants, insects, animals etc. - altho this does obvs affect our food chain! Tho perhaps even that isn't enough for the masses..?) it's all interconnected tho (as obvs the loss of rainforests affects both diversity of species AND the balance of carbon situ - esp. when land is cleared to make room for cattle farms etc. which makes things worse because of the methane emissions from cattle etc which all contributes too..) this is my understanding (more or less). But focussing on a single issue , which is only the tip of the iceberg (like Catholics with abortion sometimes I feel) can skew the whole thing.. there is SO MUCH more.. which anyone is free to look into for themselves.. "seek & you will find" ✌️🌿🙏🌈🤗 The truth is out there. Somewhere between total acceptance (of the 'party line') & total denial (ie dismissing it as just a 'climate cult'... ) 🌟💫✌️✨

    So what about UBI (universal basic income) for the poor/ those from poor areas then? Does JP have anything to say on this, or UBI in general & it's effect on society (incl. on t environment) anywhere, please? Thank you if you know. • @derekgrubbs4754

    @derekgrubbs4754

    Ай бұрын

    I think one of the major arguments against UBI is the fact that it may cause prices to go up and then the UBI won't be enough anymore, not to mention the amount of control that it could possibly allow over the people who are dependent on it. And not all poor people are poor due to uncontrollable circumstances. Some of them are poor because they don't make good decisions (financially or otherwise) so even with UBI some people will still be poor. Productivity might decrease due to people choosing not to work, which means goods and services as well as infrastructure could become less reliable. Also as a side note I believe the idea of Universal Basic Income is that it would be given to all people regardless of financial status otherwise it would essentially just be a form of welfare. In which case it may disproportionately benefit the wealthy as they would not be dependent on it and instead it could just be extra income. UBI would undoubtedly disincentivize a lot of people from working, though the ones who did continue to work would likely benefit significantly. I'm not an expert or particularly well read on the subject so these are just some loose points that I've heard in the passing. I personally don't know how good or bad UBI would actually be.

The day Barak Obama decided not to fund climate studies that did not support the preferred climate narrative proved to me that the political class and not scientists were running the show. That's the day I stopped listening to them. Climate change is natural. The Earth has gone through many changes, none of which were caused by humans. German here. Firstly, nuclear power is only cheap when we source the radioactive materials from war-torn countries on the brink of catastrophy. The newest reactors cost a fortune to build and in the case of Germany, our reactors were shut down because they were by no means innovative and in massive need of restoration - even the newest technology isn't foolproof, as Fukushima Daichi has shown. The recent energy price hikes were due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine: we were too reliant on cheap Russian gas and didn't push for renewables fast enough - a failure on the conservative's part - who don't really care for the poor either tbh - , as they get good party contributions from energy companies. tl;dr: Peterson is oversimplifying the causes for price hikes in Germany for the sake of the argument.
