The only thing that's needs changing is even better tires. I like the Goodyear Wrangler MT/R with kevlars at 35 inches with a 4 inch (10 cm) lift which could be done for around $2000 to $3000 US for both depending upon your area and tire stock availability! Since the $40,000 is is decently equipped Bronco Sport price + $3000 worth of tires and lift, that is STILL about $11,000 cheaper than the highly-marked up Jeep Wrangler Sahara edition and $16,000 cheaper than the really high-markup Jeep Wrangler Rubicon edition! The Bronco has no chance with fuel economy regulations. It’s literally the least-efficient vehicle Ford makes, getting even less gas mileage than the F-150. The Bronco Sport is very likely to go over though. It’s a compact crossover, and that’s the most popular CUV segment over there. The fact it evokes the old-school Defenders and has decent gas mileage probably won’t hurt either.

So the big brother will be incredible, but it is more expensive as soon as you add options. You would need to have only the base model. The bronco sport badlands is already good for city and off road and has the full luxury interior, with all the bells and whistle, badlands package, assist+, trailer hitch, roof rack, bicycle carrier, storage cargo, everything.. for nearly a little more than the price of the bronco base.

The editing in this was great. I enjoy the slip tests but watching them clean through sometimes is a bit slow for me. Placing the in between the real world tests is great! Glad to see this do so well...and bummed lol. Our second vehicle is a subi Forester sport 2019 and we love it. Done everything I need on fire roads and plowed snow to go up to Mt Hood. I don't use it for what it isn't, for camping/overlanding we have an F150 for that on 34s. And in any instance rock crawling like with a jeep isn't what we need/want. I do like the look of the Bronco Sport and think it has hints if the old disco with the roof line. The msrp is higher than the subi Forester sport, but that engine is way more powerful and the awd system seem a lot better.

The Bronco Sport really reminds me of what the old Landrover LR2 was supposed to have been. This is definitely a highly refined off-road oriented softroader. I drive a 2020 Audi A4 Allroad and it’s amazing in light off-roading, but with a little less ground clearance rocks are the main problem.

I've had my bronco sport big bend for about a month now in Austin area. I have been blown away by its functionality. I specifically wanted something that was a solid daily driver but had the ability to get me and the family out and about in state/national parks as well as our states many unimproved roads without problem. As much as I would love a full size truck or 4runner, etc. I simply don't need one nor does it make financial sense right now. My sport has done very well in heavy rains, light mud and my actual driving style. While I fully intend on a full size truck or Bronco in the future I'm happy with what I have right now and it doesn't look half bad. Plus I got a roof rack and rod carrier so I'm all set for now

While I agree for most people the Escape may be the more logical choice. Look at vehicle sales from manufacturers. Maybe less then 10% of the owners of off road vehicles take them off road.
