Really love the spec of this vehicle. A huge breadth of capability off road, and a very comfortable daily driver. Considering what u guys will do with ur Defender, I would definitely fit some skid plates and under body protection. For people who want to do full on rock crawling etc, customise your vehicle accordingly. Each owner can also choose how aggressive they want to go with AT or Off Road tyres, if the factory AT Tyre is not sufficient for ur requirements. Look forward to more coverage of this Defender doing its thing. 👍👍

From a Brit who loves the Landrover Brand - The new Defender is no Defender. You will rue the day you opted for the air suspension when it breaks down in the middle of nowhere. The Coil option was the way to go. As you mentioned the Ind Susp is no match for a decent solid axel set up. You summed it up at the start of the video when you said its main competitor is more the Grand Cherokee than the Rubicon and I would agree with that statement. The Defender is now more of a next Gen Discovery with better off road capability. If you want a true successor to the Defenders Crown then look to the Ineos Grenadier when it comes out in 2022. Keep up the good work.

Unfortunately I think Land Rover missed the mark on this crossover and should’ve called it something else. No true off-roader/overlander is going to take this tech loaded air suspension equipped rig to remote locations far from civilization imo. The old Defender may not be bulletproof reliable, but as many say could be fixed on the fly. Let’s hope the Grenadier really happens and Ineos rights Land Rovers wrong!

Man having independent suspension in the rear really limits the amount of overall articulation but the electronic traction aids and locking differential will make up for it on most easy to moderate trails in my opinion. It might end up fairly popular if people can swallow the price and I hope the the whole 5% to 10% that do take it offroad are mindful of that suspension setups limits.

Id buy one if i could have coil springs instead of air suspension, selectable lockers, and be able to defeat the stability control but keep the traction control so the traction control can distribute power without reducing the engine power. Thats what I love about my disco2. No matter what, the traction control does not reduce the engine power, it just distributes power where it is needed. Comes in handy because having a geared transfer case means you can make tight turns with the center diff unlocked so there is no binding like a chain drive and you still get power to all 4 wheels with the traction control.

Can't wait for you to put some nasty mud tyres on this beast! Question: Do you compromise your warranty if you install a suspension lift and/or same if you instal that fail safe device in case your air suspension fails so you can still drive(although lowest setting only - still takes that danger of your mind).

@@markovucilovski9876 I’m on my third Land Rover with air suspension (RRS, D3 and D4 - which are all the same platform). I had to change compressor and the front airbag/strut assemble on everyone of them. In the D3 twice. The first as soon as 20k miles (out of the 1 year warranty I had). And do not use the for off-road. I have Defender and D1 for that. That is my experience. And I make all the maintenance by the book in the best Land Rover Specialist in my town.

@@paulog8813 I had an Lr3, had to change the compressor but found put that the reason is the air dryer was never changed. As long as you change thw air dryer when you first notice any quirkiness in the air suspension it will last. Wish I'd have known beforehand. Wasn't hard to do, but one bolt was a royal pain to access. Loved the buttery smooth ride but I trust my D2 more for offroading.

@@markovucilovski9876 You need to get off-road more! Coil suspension is way better better than Air for reliability and repairability if you are stuck in the middle of nowhere. No fun if the car won't move because a dumb sensor on the air suspension is broken.

Rear boot aperture on the dedende is about 6in smaller than the Disco and side swing doors are a pain when you park/work on hills. Im a D3/LR3 owner in the UK and use mine for off road workhorse stuff and its superb, Defender is the logical next car for me but the price and boot issue put me off.

Remember the solid vs indy suspension is a double edged sword. Will give more wheel articulation but will also give more body articulation with it. Notice how this stayed pretty flat even with a wheel off the ground? This is why solids in general are a little less forgiving when you get to the edge of stability. They also really compromise the road manners and ride quality so they have their good points and their bad.

Test driving a Defender 90 in Beverly Hills California taught me quickly what I didn’t like about the new civilian version years ago. Left arm rest with drivers window down. Impossible. Loss of 6 inches or so. Horrid. Crazy top heavy, dangerous on paved streets Under powered, even with the V-8, vehicle weight an lack of horsepower meant sluggish lackluster performance. Horrid petrol milage. With California gas raising leapts and bounds, the market assured such gas hogs would disappear. Emissions; Government mandates literally assured only the rich would be able to afford fuel guzzlers. Those wanting big power, better be ready to mortgage yourselves for life to obtaining more power. We the consumer witness everyday these thoughts of mine. Diesel Wrangler anyone? At what cost? I have neighbor’s whom have $100,000 (s) 2013 wranglers whom struggle to pay years long payments. Despite my appreciation of such interesting tech, I refuse to become victimized via my own lack of financial common sense.
