A seax is a single edge sword/knife/dagger. It can have a clip point, but not always. Not if you're talking about weapon from the migration period, when the saxons got their name. They show a large variation in shape and size, but they're always single edge. The francisca was indeed a throwing axe.

I don't know, or even heard of anybody with that name (apart from a popular tv character), but it's still a legal name here Like in the other nordic languages, sax is also the name of the weapon, but it's most commonly found today as a verb, 'að saxa' which means to chop or something like that, and similarly, in culinary terms, to cut into small bits.

Considering how the Spanish render my name as Esteban (and you keep misspelling it as Stephen in Patreon polls) and the Spanish for "sword" is "espada" I wouldn't mind being an Espadan. The again, Stefan/Stephen has its roots in Greek with a meaning of "wreath/crown". It is usually interpreted as "one who has been bestowed a crown/wreath", i.e. someone who has been honoured (wreaths were a common way of marking out someone important, from Olympic champions to Roman emperors). But, if you think about it, it may as well means "someone who fights using a crown". And that would be badass!

Anglo Saxon names mostly fell out of fashion in England. Most English Germanic names are ones shared with French, like Robert, Jeffrey/Geoffrey or Lewis (which is surprisingly a cognate of Ludwig). You don’t see things like the prevalence of the suffixes Bert, Red and Wald or the prefix Athel. Albert would fit in better among the Anglo Saxons but is also common on the continent, Alfred is the most enduring Anglo Saxon name, definitely because of the king
