The Weekend's verse is about another person's perspective on the traumas and doubts that Ariana mentions in the song (in this case it would be Dalton's perspective at the beginning of their relationship) Ariana said on Zach that she and Abel talked a lot about life before. of writing the song and that he wrote his verse as the other person's point of view in the relationship.

okay with all due respect, i feel like this theory is wrong. not every single song she makes about love/wanting or rejecting love means it’s about mac miller. everyone keeps trying to theorize her music about mac as if she’s still incredibly depressed about it. maybe she is but not every single song alluded to mac in some way.

As one of the biggest Ariana fans I hated this album when it came out, it just didn’t click but here I am years later and omfg this album is everything, currently obsessed with Eternal Sunshine

off the table is actually a very sentimental song as others explained. one thing about positions is that a lot of people come into it expecting it to have all songs be about sex when it really isn’t. there are songs about vulnerability in recovering from past relationships and then trying to be able to trust someone and be able to fall in love again. sure sex plays a part of that but not in every song and certainly not in off the table which couldn’t be any less about sex.

And even the TYPE of sex Ari is singing about requires a deeper level of intimacy which requires vulnerability. This is a healing album. And I LOVE it. Off the table is actually so deep I can't always play it. It hits too hard.

I read off the table completely differently. I saw it as Ariana trying to move on after Mac's passing and not knowing if she can love someone like that again ( "will I ever love somebody like the way I did you?" "not yet healed or ready") and the Weeknd is saying that he will wait for her and love her even though he knows she is still healing and grieving

the meaning of off the table is not how it was interpreted 😭 she said it’s about the fear you have after falling out of love and wondering if you’ll ever be able to be in love again. it’s actually pretty sad

One neat fact I found out about this album: being “down like six thirty” is a reference to where the hands of a clock are at when it’s 6:30 (down lol). I heard Ari describe this in an interview and it made me smile, thought I’d share :)

ive been an Arianator since 2014 and i’m still one now, safe to say i know her and her music pretty well. and i’ve done the math, this album is probably her least horny. there’s two versions of this album, the regular with 14 songs and the deluxe with 18 songs. out of the 14 songs on the regular album there’s literally only 2 songs that are about sex. maybe 3 if you REALLY want to count positions. out of the 18 songs on the deluxe, only about 5 of them are about sex and one of those is literally just a remix of a song that already exited on the regular version of the album. so technically since it’s the same song twice, there’s only 4 songs on the delux that are horny or about sex. Ariana did an interview with Zach sang explaining the real meanings to the songs, she went through every song on the album. most of them have really beautiful, clever meanings and word play and it’s kind of annoying that people take everything in such a sexual way. there’s nothing wrong with being sexual. but not everything she does is sexual. but people seem to think that about her because 1, her fans give her that rep because they’re all horny and shallow. 2, since she’s a woman who is so open about her sexuality and is brave enough to be sexual sometimes, people just started taking everything she did as sexual and labeling her as horny. but again, this album has so many beautiful songs about interesting ideas and concepts and the album tells a story about falling in love. only a few songs are about sex, which can be an important part of falling in love. a reminder since people seem to forget: just because a song has 1 or even 2 lines about sex or that seem like they could be sexual... doesn’t mean the whole song is about sex. people will hear the word “love” and automatically think sex. the only songs on the regular album actually about sex are 34+35 and nasty. the only songs on the deluxe that are actually about sex are 34+35, 34+35 remix, nasty, & maybe positions and worst behavior. the rest Ariana explained have different meanings.

ikr ?? like people were only calling this the horniest because of 34+35 and the name of the album positions which means two things, but overall this isn't even her horniest one. i say Dangerous Woman is the horniest one although most of the songs were about love, the vibe of the whole album gives a "sexy" vibe comparing to other albums. I absolutely love positions and is part of my top 3 but I just wished the deluxe songs were longer or at least hit the 3 minute mark I'm so mad they're such masterpieces

@@Rebeverse I think the writer category is for the lyricist and the melody composition of the song , so if a producer either writers a lyric or compose some melody for the song , he / she will be credited in the writers section. It’s not like if the producer doesn’t do any of the above mentioned things and they’ll be credited as a writer because for them there’s a separate section called Producer Credits. So not all producers are credited in the writers section , only those who has either helped in writing or composing the song gets credited in the writers section .

Positions is a fairly decent album. Wouldn’t say it’s my absolute favorite from Ariana’s discography, but she still slayed, you know, vocally. The deluxe version is a bit better, although most of the tracks on there are so short in length. Can’t wait for Ariana to probably release a new album soon. I just know she’s full of surprises here and there.
