    The opening monologue is actually directly ripped from the opening of the book. Halfbloods do have ADHD and Dyslexia (battle reflexes and their minds are wired for Greek), and the story was written for uncle rick's son who has both of those. The stories actually started a bedtime stories for said son, before rick started writing them down. The movies really do not do the books justice, and the show looks like it is finally going to give us the adaptation we deserve!

    It makes absolute sense that the opening monologue was ripped from the book! It just has that vibe lol. But it's really cool that Riordan included things like ADHD and dyslexia for the characters, since I feel like those are things that probably easy to overlook that certainly need representation as well. I'm glad to hear most fans seem to be happy with it so far! I'm certainly enjoying it 😊

    Me too! I know its not okay for spoilers for the people who haven't read them, but for us readers who have read them and I know are analyzing every second of the show for Easter eggs or looking for special scenes that are in the book, its something that we all get scream and talk about, while the non-readers don't know unless they read them! It sounds mean and sounds like its only for us readers (WHICH IT ISN'T), but it feels a little special to us and is close to our hearts that another book that we love is getting to the big screen if done right!❤

    they didnt want Percy knowing about Sally (at least, just yet) because they didnt want Percy to act impulsively on that news. Cause also, by that time Grover goes to Chiron and Mr. D about that, they didnt know Percy was a child of Poseidon, so he had no reason nor business going to the underworld, and him rushing down into the underworld to confront Hades? Not a good idea

  • @sorchamiana

    @sorchamiana

    27 күн бұрын

    I'm curious about this. Do we really think Chiron and Mr.D didn't know his dad is Poseidon? Grover saw Percy manipulate water on the Yancy field trip and could have told them about that, plus Percy had no lingering injuries after the minotaur fight (which happened in the rain) so even if Grover said nothing about the water, it's possible that could've been enough for them to at least suspect. (Also they knew a grand quest was coming and a kid who took out a minotaur with no training certainly sounds like a fairly likely quest candidate). I do still think it's possible they didn't know and therefore wouldn't want him running off to the underworld if he had no business being there, but I also think it's possible they either knew or suspected and didn't want him attempting to rescue his mom at the expense of the quest's success. Because even after Percy has been claimed, when they are telling him about the quest, it still seems like they don't want Grover to tell him even then. Just wondering, because I'd like to give them the benefit of the doubt that they didn't know, but I do see why they might've had reason for secrecy either way. 🤷

    @@movienightwithjacquiYeah defintely. Early book Percy is a really angry kid. He despise the gods for neglecting him (justified) and for only claiming demigods when it's convenient for them. So it makes sense that he wouldn't care whether they settle the lightning bolt fiasco or not. He would only care about bringing his mother back.

    The two Titans Cronos & Rhea birthed the six original Greek Gods. These Gods were Zeus, Poseidon, Hades, Hera, Hestia, and Demeter. Most of the other gods & goddesses were children to Zeus and another deity. The six most referenced are Athena, Hephaestos, Ares, Artemis, Apollo, and Hermes.

    Its fairly accurate. Theres some stuff that were changed that i didnt really get like the way he killed Dodd’s which seemed more like an accident here (or luck). Also when he was fighting clarisse hes supposed to be pretty bad at fighting until he gets into the water. After that he gets a power boost and he kicks their asses. Im assuming they changed that so for one, percy looks like a capable fighter without training, and so annabeth will look smarter as shes the one who figures out his parent before everyone else. I think in the book she had a strong suspicion. Also percy leaving grover at a bus station, but honestly this is small stuff to be picky about and i dont think the changed were detrimental to the plot at all. I’m looking forward to the next few episodes and seasons. 4th book is my fav so i can’t wait to see what they do with it

    You saying, “What in the Grim Reaper!” is an excellent observation on your part. The original imagery of the Grim Reaper (sands of time draining away toward death/skulls/sun dials and shadows, the decrepit side to aging, not the honorable side) came from this particular villain in the Percy Jackson series.

    As a big fan of the books I loved these two episodes, camp half-blood is exactly how rick riordan describes it in the book. It's nothing like the Logan lerman adaptation, no hate towards the actors but it was a mess, I think a tv show is a lot better to portray this story and do it justice (and they already are, barely two episodes in). Also, Rick started writing these books because his son has ADHD and dyslexia and he wanted to give him a character he could relate to and faced some of the same struggles which makes it even more amazing. I loved the books when I was younger and later found out I have ADHD myself and having this story helped me so much with not feeling so alien to everyone else. I hope you continue watching and I have to warn you that these incredibly cute kids are about to go through a lot so get ready 🙃

    one thing to note is that gabe is way worse in the books - at least in the chapters they have adapted so far. i won’t speak for the chapters we haven’t seen yet. i’m also waiting to see what they’ll do with gabe next. that being said other than that i love the show! it’s very book accurate for the most part. and us pjo book fans have waited so long for an accurate adaptation. sure a lot of people were frustrated about the casting (percy is supposed to have black hair and seagreen eyes, annabeth is blonde with grey eyes, luke was also blonde, etc.) decisions but i love them! they all really nail their characters personality wise and watching behind the scenes stuff or interviews legit feels like watching the characters as if they were ripped straight from the page! i’ll look forward to your reactions 😊 i remember your last of us reactions so this is gonna be fun! have a very merry Christmas also!

    11:14 I like that you took note that Sally and Gabe are not a good relationship model for Percy. Percy knows it is bad its still not good for him: when you live in it, its very easy to subconsciously see it as normal and then wind up in a similar relationship later since "It wasn't that bad".

    I don’t know if someone already said this but the reason they didn’t want Percy to know his mom was in the underworld is because they knew he’d go looking for her. He’s untrained and doesn’t much at all about the magical world and would be playing with powerful forces he knows nothing about. And it would distract from the quest, they can’t be sure he wouldn’t choose saving his mom over saving the world if it came down to that
