An old saying, a fool, and his money is easily parted. Saw him coming, sucked in, and spat out. Bar girls are famous for it.

Yup ! They saw ya coming. What baffled me is ..why you didn't see it coming! I've been going 15 years pre covid lockdown shutdown fukdown.. I saw it a mile off Sir ! the moment you get off the plane....? Money money money....((listen to ABBA) What ya think is the attraction of 59 y/o man.... same same as they say! BTW I'm a 59 too...I've decided to avoid Thailand for now. Some things never change ....!

Perhaps you retired a bit too early, no point retiring to a foreign country unless you’re financially sound, not a great idea if you have to watch the pennies retirement time should be the best time of your life the grass is not always greener on the other side. You will get no help in Thailand if you come up short at least back home you can always hit up Centre Link.

It's a trap when you turn up as a newbie and give your life savings to a bar girl you met a week before to open a beer bar ... Then think you'll ever get that money back. Delusional.

You need to pull your socks up. Walk everyday get a step counter if you need. Basically 1hour 30mins a day is 10,000 steps. Get to a Gym 2X a week. There are Thais there struggling more than You. Go do some charity work or give a 100-200 baht away everyday to someone less fortunate than You. Depression comes from Self Pity. Cold Showers Cure it as ive said before there's a new Sauna on Soi Korpia ho check it out even do a video on it. Get It Done and Stop Bitching.

Yes, you have written everything I was going to write. Aussie has been scammed, and he might get something back, maybe not. This is enough to make anyone depressed. Going home would do no good unless there is a chance of making good money there. I would recommend hanging on and continue trying to recover some money. Gym work does give me a natural high, but not everyone is affected that way.

@@PeterBren Dude Gym is 4 everyone they just have to Do It start slow and progress
1. Check your vitamin B12 and D3, make sure you are not deficient on those vitamins, because they are a major cause of depression. 2. 30 minutes walking in the morning and 30 minutes walking in the afternoon, walking is the best exercise to clear up your head 3. Visit a temple and learn meditation, especially mindful meditations. 4. Don't dwell on your thoughts, ignore your thoughts, yes you can ignore your thoughts by being present, that's how monks control their thoughts by being present and with time it becomes natural, I have done it.
Been living in Thailand for 20 years, spent 1 night in Pattaya, never been to Phuket, so much more to do and see in Thailand. Maybe you should go for a look and see the real Thailand.

dont think hes in any shape to get a job in the mines, you are right tho.man needs a job, aint gonna get one there if ya not gonna become inventive, best thing for him if he wants to remain in thailand is hook up with an average lookin farm girl or a girl local thai guys havent wanted whos doin ok n help with the farm or small business, maybe with the family even but thats gonna take discipline, dont think he'll be able to cut that swathe tho
Are you out walking everyday? I try to keep up my 10,000 steps per day, even if it's over three sessions. Helps clear my mind and keeps me feeling fresh and motivated.
Get of that dam bike and do some walking vlogs better for you😮

G’day mate, been here coming on 19yrs. It can be a rough place mentally to live at times. Some times you don’t know if you’re coming or going. You just gotta keep busy and out of the bars. If you ever wanna chat or catch up, give me a shout. 👍

Retiring means slowing down. You don't have to complete any jobs in a day. One job each day is more than enough. If you have too much energy, go swimming, walk, and detox. In Thailand, you can go to temples to stay. Overcoming depression is best to be in the nature away from drinking, mixing with wrong people, and worrying about money.
2 - 5 years is when you start to live someplace and the vacation starts to fade. Pattaya, in my opinion, is not a place to live. I avoid that place like the plague. It's not the place....its the hordes of tourists, the alcoholics, general idiots, the seediness....the negatives outweigh the positives, which are very few.

You gotta make your money in the west and spend and enjoy in the east, forget trying to make money in the east as a foreigner you will most likely fail.
The reason for your depression is to do with money problems, how many depressed millionaires do you meet.

Exercise does help with depression and joining the gym was the best thing I have done for managing my depression.
Thanks for honesty Greg
Can only swing on a hammock and drink cocktails so many times mate.
You bought into a business you never had control of , the irony you did the video of your mate who did the same on Pratnamak bar and truck , not a good financial move , that is what caused your depression not alcohol ...
My heart and prayers to you! 🙏
Aussie in Thailand. Keep off the booze and get up early every morning and go for a 1 hour walk along the beach. In 2 weeks time you will feel alot better.
Thailand is not easy & with no money even worse as the costs just to stay with visas; 90 day check ins; health insurance, & the unexpected is never ending. Even starting a business you need a few years to get to know the system--& who you can trust as the business system is different & a headache & you need an honest Thai manager. Without youre history?. Ive seen many sit in a bar drinking themselves to death & business stolen worse than yours. As youre on a limited budget your best bet Greg is head back home & get a job in the mines or whatever if you can. Pattaya will still be there when you come back & you'll understand more......take care

man has to have a sense of achieving something every few days or so. thats why work in Australia as mundane as it can be at times gives one a sense of purpose.also i notice you probs dont have a close circle or 2 of important networks ? 1/work 2/ close network of friends dont underestimate the role n purpose of work even in ya mid-late 50's.doesnt have to be FT work either as long as your attaining some sort of benefit besides money,it could be something as small as having something in common with customers or colleagues that makes you laugh n get thru the long days. personally i dont prescribe to the 5 day working week n im much better off bc of it others tho can work 6/7 days, nuthin wrong with that either. look chasing pussy and/or drinking, gambling, playin golf etc etc constantly becomes boring,i know, been there done that, nuthin wrong with it but theyre souless pursuits, having a purpose/feeling purposeful is crucial. why dont ya try massaging older thai women for a while as a small business, doesnt have to be sexual, give something back set up a peaceful n tranquil practice, rent out a small space, make it light n breezy from the hustle n bustle of the street. try sumthin different man, going to bars 3/4/5 days a week is for losers imo, been to thailand over 20 x's even lived 3hrs up north of BKK for 5 months,i wouldnt have survived all that time in Thailand if even 60% of it was spent in bars,no way ,no how thnk fck i was married to a thai before i mongered there, best thing i ever did n ive done some awesome things in my life but thats my icing,i've nevr let them get one over me,evrything ive got ive given back, not literally of course, but in different forms, not always money, anyway its all about the balance, giving n receiving, gotta get that balance right tho otherwise its gonna be tough dude
good luck friend, wish you the best!
