Transferring $5 back and forth from SoFi to Plynk each month counts as a direct deposit✌️

There's no requirement that your whole check go into the checking or savings account. It's a direct deposit of any amount. I was going to save 15% anyway, so I just have 15% of my paycheck deposited at SoFi and the other 85% at my local credit union.

I used to send $5 there every two weeks. Then 4.6% was no longer competitive so I stopped even the $5

Last year I think I got about a $200 bonus in the card, now it’s 2.2%! Total win here

If you want catch all everything card Alliant is 2.5% but I would hold off until there is a SUB of some sort for opening a membership with that credit union.

Direct deposit can be as little as 1% of you check. I do this

This works for me cuz I’m already a SoFi fanboy with all those products. I got the card last year and am currently getting 3% on my whole life.

I basically use their savings as checking. There’s no withdrawal limit, I put DD into savings and qualify for the higher rate, and any overdraft from checking gets pulled from savings.

You can easily get 5% or close to it without the stipulations and Robinhood has a 3% card coming with a subscription to robinhood gold that gets 5% so if you have enough money that the .4% interest difference makes up the 50$ a year for gold.. no brainer!

Don't like HYSA Direct Deposit requirement, will stick w/ Cap One... already have three 2% CB cards and 3% CB online options

Unrelated to this video, but I just noticed US Bank is making changes to their Altitude Go and Connect Credit Cards….for the worst in my opinion! Would be cool to see a video on this with your thoughts.

Unfortunately my SoFi card got shut off die to non-use, there's no way to apply for a new one. I called and asked. Bummed me out.

I have the bank account but since there’s no transfer partners, no CC for me. Solid for team cash back

Last month I transferred from Wells Fargo to SoFi and the credit card for me is giving 3% cash back for one year so I’m rocking that til next March for everything except travel and hotels

Yep I forgot that some people got that deal. now you'll only drop down to 2.2% afterwards if you have other account + Direct Deposit.

American Express has a 4.35 % int savings acct. No minimum balance.

Funny you mention, I moved my HYSA from Sofi over to Amex. With the recent debacles with SVB and Yotta, I’m trusting my money with a bigger well known bank. Also I like that Amex literally have no requirements like deposits or min balance.

Just a data point. You dont need to deposit your whole paycheck. I break off $5 from each check, and still qualify for the 4.6% rate.

Correct. As stated in Sofi's terms, there is no minimum direct deposit requirement in order to get the 4.60% savings rate.

The SUB thing isn’t quite correct. I have the card and SoFi targeted me with a mail offer for 200 dollar statement credit after 500 dollars spend in 3 months. Once you sign up for the bank product and then get direct deposit, people often get the offer. Then it is a no brainier

OK, yeah, if there is a bonus. definitely changes things. SoFi would maybe be better off to make that bonus clear to potential new customers.

Only got it for the foreign fee.

You'll have to spend 20000 in the first year to offset 200 sign-in bonuses. If you are a travel guy, the gap will be even bigger as miles are usually worth more than a cent per mile.
