My partner, his coworkers wife is a CO at the jail in Columbia, SC, where Alex is at. And she said his demeanor is the oddest thing. He acts too comfortable in jail, and acts like all the officers/authority within the jail are his friends, as if Alex doesn’t consider himself an inmate like the rest of them in jail population. The same good ol boy nature in the jail is still present. She said as a CO, she sees so much. Inmates who kiss up to them to be on good terms, hard asses, people who stay relatively quiet, the class-clown types, etc. But she said Alex is truly bizarre, she said it’s like he hasn’t grasped reality that he’s in jail, for the rest of his life (unless something crazy happens and he’s acquitted). He really knows how to charm people and earn a privilege of sorts. This mf’r will be the one who gets a CO to help him escape or something.

That is not surprising that Alex would use his superficial charm and "good old boy"persona acting skills, since he had been doing that for so long. He will try to use those with authority for something helpful to himself. I hope they do not succumb to Alex Murdaugh's will.

@@bribri8042 he doesn’t live in reality. He really doesn’t. Furthermore, he’s been in panic mode for 4+ years now, ever since Paul killed that girl in the “accident” and cost the family their good name and a ton of money. He stole those funds to hide them away for a rainy day because of that 50 MIL lawsuit. That’s just my opinion tho. What he didn’t do was JUST buy drugs with it. Drugs aren’t THAT expensive. And no way he was using as many Oxy pills as he said or he would have been VERY dead lol. He also didn’t seem high the night if the murder. Maybe he was, but he wasn’t SLOSHED. He was able to walk and talk normally. Whatever he was, it was Equivalent to having maybe 2 beers, but in opioid form. (I’m a recovering opioid addict and alcoholic so I’m well versed in both). So this chaos is really his new normal. He’s clearly adjusted to the stress. But more so, he def has got to have ASPD or at the VERY least, narcissism. So he truly BELIEVES he is above it all and most likely is delusional about his current state of affairs. Even if he was acquitted for these murders, he’d still be locked away for life because of the other 99 charges. Lastly, remember when the cops showed up to the murder scene and he was giving a statement and upset the paused to say “hey how’s it going?” To some rando cop who apparently walked by? What NORMAL person would care about that if they just found their wife and sons brains 🧠 blown out? So yeah, it’s artificial charm, used to manipulate.

It's truly sinister to think of who has died under this family's watch / eyes / presence.... the accident with the housekeeper and the phone call to 911 from Maggie was also disturbing ....the deaths of both Stephen and Mallory. I'm glad they're reinvestigating Stephen's death~ but the sad thing is, they shouldn't have had to, to begin with. Having a certain last name shouldn't absolve you or make you immune to the law.... yet, why does it... ??? It's sickening. How would you sound on the phone with 911 if you found you housekeeper and friend on the ground with blood pouring out of her head? Maggie was the only one who visited Gloria at the hospital as Gloria was far more than a housekeeper to her. Gloria was a friend and confidant. From what I heard, the whole family liked to drink and so too did Gloria. A toxicology should have been done and if it was positive for alcohol, Alex would have kept it hidden from his insurance company. Could Alex buy off the coroner? Looks like the coroner may have been bought off in the Steven Smith case as private investigators have stated that he didn't die from a hit and run as the coroner wrote on his autopsy as cause of death.

There's a chance Buster is on one or more medications to help him cope. Pharmaceuticals can definitely change your emotional state, affect, and how you comport yourself. There are people who have been "trained", by others or themselves, to strictly control their emotions. They are experts in compartmentilization. There are people who don't have what are considered "normal" emotions (sociopaths, neurodivergent individuals) and therefore may act in a manner that is totally foreign to the average person. Also, we can assume/guess how we would act if put in his situation but, unless you have been in this type situation, you can't be sure. Buster is in his 20's, has grown up in an extremely affluent and privileged manner, suffered major personal and financial losses, watched his family legacy fall hard and fast from grace, is seeing much of his family's private dirty laundry being aired and picked up apart in public in front of the world, and has to testify in the father's trial wondering if anything you say will aid in the conviction of the man that raised you. I can't even start to imagine all the conflicting thoughts, emotions, or non-emotions that might be happening. I can't blame nor judge someone for completely shutting down. As I mentioned before, this is all happening on camera in front of the whole world. Not only that, everything is online and will exist and be viewed, judged, and assessed by countless strangers for an untold amount of time. It doesn't surprise me that someone would do their utmost to keep their emotional trauma private. That may be one of the few things, or only thing, that an individual has control over when in a situation that is out of your control.

  • @keljells

I don’t think you can judge by that though. Shock and disbelief can last a long time and humans have a crazy ability to compartmentalize. At one point Alex says to his son "You should go hunting at Moselle" (the site where he murdered his wife and child) and Buster sounds visibly annoyed and says "no thanks...." and Alex keeps pushing!! Going "are you sure?" and Buster saying, "yes dad, I'm sure, I'm not going hunting out there....".......Like wtf? What dad suggests his kid go hunting right where his mother and brother were murdered? I think that was another thing that showed his guilt. If the killers are still at large then why would you send your last remaining child to where your wife and other child were killed? Oh and in the first interrogation I think it was, at around the 17:55 mark Alex slips up and says "I went BACK to the kennels" Im shocked the prosecution never caught that. Its crazy to think, that if everything coming out about the poor kid that was murdered is true and it was Buster, that Alex, Buster, and Paul all killed someone. That's just nuts.

@@cindyshirreffs2099 who said that? Not that I think the M’s are above that but if someone gave me that ultimatum, I’d go with “fine- YOU do it then!”. I don’t think that’s what happened. Alec killed them hours after his law firm told him he was being investigated for embezzlement. This was a selfish choice. Maggie and Paul were onto him and if this had gotten out, they might have stopped keeping the family secrets. Maggie was also on the verge of looking into a divorce. Grandpa might be as sinister as Alec, but Alec is 100% to blame for how Paul turned out and the financial issues in the family. On another note- I’d be shocked if Alec didn’t kill Stephen because of the rumors about buster hooking up with him. They aren’t too kind to homosexuals down there in the south and Alec is the type to consider that a tarnish on the family name. I have no doubt that Alec’s dad was a piece of shit, because that explains Alec being one too, but we can’t blame him for all of this.

Shelly is the caretaker who lives with Buster's grandma. Alex has built his alibi on visiting his mother that night. Shelly's testimony was damning, she called him out for lying about the timeline. Therefore, I am not buying Buster's "yeah whatever, can't remember when she testified" attitude. He sat there through that testimony. Also, he knows very well why the prosecution asks him about visiting his grandmother at 6:30 am. It also relates to information from Shelly. So he only acts confused.

No because he’s 100% in denial. And to be fair, I want anyone reading this to take a second to picture your mom and or dad- and imagine them blowing your brains out like Alec did to his own son. You probably can’t SERIOUSLY consider it. Neither can Buster. Denial is a REAL defense mechanism, and it exists to protect the delicate human psyche. I’ve experienced it when being raped and also when being molested at a young age. The brain shuts out that stuff and forces you to think that something else is happening (typically happens more with trauma victims). That’s what’s going on with Buster IMHO. I do think Alex loved Paul, but Paul had turned into a HUGE liability. He and Maggie were onto Alec (drug abuse and financial antics) and Alec convinced himself that the only way out was to get rid of them, seeing as how this happened mere hours after his law firm let Alec know they knew he stole that money and were investigating further. Maggie and the rest of the family would soon learn EVERYTHING. So under normal circumstances, and when not feeling very desperate, no, Alec wouldn’t have never done this. So no, Buster doesn’t believe he did it and can’t fathom Alec doing that to Buster. That’s my position anyhow. Because I can’t fathom that Buster knows his dad did it and is as cool as a cucumber while on the stand. His momma and baby brother’s brains were blown out- that’s not nothin’. And he’s willing to lie for his dad because he thinks his dad is innocent. That’s what the M’s do: they justify the means if it results in a just END. 😢

Alex lied about where they always park at Alameda. So when Buster is asked when he last talked to anyone about where they parked, the prosecution really means, "Did you talk to anyone about what you should say about this...." And Buster says "couple days ago" and realizes he probably should have lied there too, to please his father.

But to have these cases analyzed for educational purposes, makes it easier to understand without having to watch hours of it.

Emily D. Baker does a really great job at explaining the process that goes into all of the legal stuff.

Could you do an analysis on Buster in these scenarios: - the scene where we hear the video footage of Alex’s voice on the recording at the kennels for the first time -the reading of the verdict Edit: I’m wondering if that was Buster’s first time hearing that video Paul recorded (They showed his face during these moments when they could)

I think his answers were very cautious and calculated like the lawyer in training he was before he got kicked out of law school. I believe he is a product of his environment and he was speaking carefully to try to protect his dad. But I also think he’s grieving for his family. If he’s innocent, I really feel for him.

I noticed that he had zero emotion when he would be in the background during medical examiner testimony etc. I found that really weird. I didn’t watch the whole trial but definitely noticed that the few days I watched.

When he looked to the side when answering hesitantly, he was looking toward his DAD. He did that a few times, very subtly as if trying to confirm his answer or looking for help. I always thought BUSTER was involved in some way, now I'm really sure he was, to the point that maybe HE pulled the triggers. If his dad could never do it, then maybe he could, especially if he killed his ex-lover!! He might be as much of a narcissist as his father.

i truly think buster and the murdaughs had something to do with stephen smith's death and i'm glad alex's conviction has brought light to his case. gloria satterfield's death is also suspicious and i hope they both get justice from this toxic family who believed they were above the law. more murdaugh content plz logan!!

I'm not sure what involvement they have in SS death. But it's sure suspicious how Uncle Randy swooped into inject himself into the situation. They always seem available for clean up and to protect the family interests.

The way the Murdaugh family had their way with the boat crash scene (and at the hospital afterwards), then at the double murder Moselle crime scene - just my IMO BUT, I'm thinking they (Alex, Alex brothers and their daddy) gave a little 'assistance' to the officers at the scene where Stephen's body was found. A family of liars. A family that will do whatever it takes to protect the name. Again, my opinion.
