Is anyone listening to iHeartRadio? (Sunny Radio jingle glitch)

Ғылым және технология

Inspired by uxwbill's video: • Is Anyone Listening To... Every time the Sunny Radio channel on iHeartRadio plays this holiday jingle, there's a brief but audible glitch in it. Apparently nobody ever noticed it or cared enough to replace it with a glitch-free copy of the jingle.

I think this was pieced together from two different jingles. The "Sunny Radio" part is in a different key than the first part, and the iHeartChristmas channel has the same jingle but with "iHeartRadio" at the end in the proper key. So they probably took the iHeartChristmas cut and spliced on the end of the acapella mix from one of Sunny's main cuts, but didn't bother to make sure there was no glitch in the newly edited track.

Most people probably wouldn't even notice that, including the person responsible for creating and/or airing it.

It's a rapid stutter, like what was common back in the '90s when you had audio playing through your sound card and then you tried to do something CPU-intensive, causing a buffer underrun.

There's already enough non-stop Christmas music being bombarded 24 hours on the analog FM stations, nobody probably bothers to listen to more of it on the sub HD2 channels.

@mr. smash96 I don't even get what the point of an HD radio station is for anyway. Was it supposed to compete with Sirius XM and have some stations narrow down a specific playlist? This "Sunny Radio" format is nothing more than a soft rock format that's already heard on most FM stations across North America, minus an annoying DJ. Like you said, Spotify, Pandora and Stingray Music already has that gap filled with streaming apps. Along with a handful of Sirius XM stations.

@@troykirchhoefel9134 Sunny used to be on XM Radio as a beautiful music themed station. It was one of the channels Clear Channel programmed ( and eventually crammed commercials onto) as part of their "investment" in XM.

Actually, this is different from what mainstream adult contemporary radio sounds like nowadays. Although some stations more similar to Sunny have popped up lately, mostly under the name "The Breeze".

All of these years later, the glitch I heard is still present (even after telling them about it twice). It'll be interesting to see if anyone ever fixes this one.

And this is why I hate iHeartRadio/Media All they care about is income. Yes, iHeartRadio also runs here in Australia under the "ARN" name.

I’m glad I can just access iHeartRadio stations with Apple Music instead of using the iHeartRadio app.

One of our local 'community radio' stations has various recordings of songs with odd glitches. They're way more noticeable than this one; it'll be interesting to see if they ever get fixed, but I'm doubtful.

One of the LPFM stations nearby in my area always has that audio glitch. It can be very noticeable sometimes.

Gonna guess from the dead air that this station is just some computer playing a fixed playlist on loop with the jingle between each song. No staff needed! Wouldn't be out of the ordinary for Clear Channel/iHR: arstechnica.com/tech-policy/2010/05/will-clear-channel-ever-live-down-the-minot-toxic-spill-disaster/

I have a few glitchy recordings from the radio. one is a song that glitches a little similar to your why a radio station should not run on winamp video. Then I have one where everything went haywire, and one where it continued through 3 songs.
