    Hey Damion, dude, thank you so much for these amazing videos - just wanted to share my experiences with dialling in the TMP. For running guitar direct to a PA; the absolute lightbulb moment was realising how powerful the high pass and low cut filters on the cabinet/IR window are. Modellers (all of them) are too bright writ large which is why the presets always sound buzzy and fizzy. For cleans, I set my HPF down to 7000kHz and for crunch/drives I set it all the way down to 4500kHz (!). For the low end I cut out everything below 80Hz - this sounds like it would be WAY too narrow and dark, but it really helps the TMP nail the amp-like sound. I've been comparing against an actual tube amp for days now and I feel this combo gets the closest - we have to remember that guitar amplifiers aren't actually a very accurate or sensitive reproduction of a sound, they're sledgehammers in the middle of the EQ bandwidth and pretty hopeless at very high and very low ends. This very full on high cut came from literally doing as Damion suggested - pick one amp, learn it backwards and experiment to death. For anyone like me struggling for a few days to get this to sound good direct - tune out all the sparkly crap that's miles above the range of whatever amplifier you're trying to emulate and enjoy!

    I’ve been playing around with this for a bit now. Only with a deluxe reverb as I’m primarily a Fender clean and add pedals guy. My ears wouldn’t know the exact right tone for a Vox in the room. That being said, I’m getting great tones with it. I always add an EQ at the end of the chain for my own taste but it sounds great with the different humbuckers I’m using to test. Haven’t tried any single coils until tomorrow, it’s late. But I’m sure I can dial it in. Good job Chad and thanks Damion for getting him exposed on the channel. The jack nuts and cable markers along with the other TMP items he offers are great. I could only find one cover for the TMP so far at custom amp covers and I ordered that. It imperative to keep your equipment safe from contamination if you can. Always use covers for your gear when not in use. Nothing kills analog or digital gear quicker than dust and crud excluding disasters. I forgot to add that I am also using an FR-12 in the room.

    Jason, you might really be the cooler version of my dad lmao (Inside joke for those reading). I'm in the same boat, I own a 65' Deluxe Reverb Reissue that's been my main baby forever. I just recently got into the Vox Amp. They were super popular when I was in country, but noticed they're also popular in Math Rock. Owning the TMP, I can just use it without shelling out the money for a Vox amp lol so I am using it. I really enjoy it, it's honestly a more treble focused Deluxe. I'm in a hard core single coil / P90 phase right now after playing a Les Paul exclusively (Amanda is, and forever will be, my #1 case princess guitar. She sleeps in her case next to me lmao - Gibson Les Paul Trad Pro V). I also use my DRRI cover for my FR12 cab. I just need Fender to release a backpack for the Tmp and I'm set. Anyways, thanks for the support Jason, I truly appreciate you and look forward to more comments from you 🤘 SEE YOU THURSDAY

    I’ve been gassing for a Vox for a long time. Almost got the HW version with the Alnico blue speaker in fawn. But I guess I missed the boat and that’s probably a good thing since I’ve committed to the modeling route. Just another amp I won’t feel the need to buy like you said. I did try the IR with the Vox at your settings and loved it. Just wasn’t sure of the “in the room accuracy” because of my lack of experience with it. That’s why I tried the DR. I know that sound. And I EQd it like I would in the room normally after the IR and the sound was what I expected to hear. That’s the only setting I changed. Typical fender EQ with a bit of a mid hump. The bass was rattling my fireplace screen before I adjusted. I’m sure I could’ve just done it on the amp but I like the GE7 unless fender puts a better parametric in there. I see a gator case for the TMP. I think it’s a universal case but Sweetwater sells it as a bundle. And an expensive SKB hard case which I don’t think you’d want. I know there’s people who shit on the QC because they are fractal users and helix users shit on Headrush and so on. But I’m really falling in love with the TMP. You can find the tone with any of them probably if you spend the time. But the UI was the biggest selling point for me. I thought, well this costs less than one single good tube amp and if I hate, I’ll sell it. But if I like it, I’ll purge most all other gear and buy more guitars and reclaim some square footage. 😂

    @@jumboscrimps6198, reading your comments is like reading an older version of me. I am all in on modeling. If you go all in and get a great setup (TMP, FR12, Expression pedal), you're spending about $2200 (that's what I paid anyways). You're getting SSSSSOOOO much value when you compare it to the hardware costs. I'm grateful I'm no longer needing an expensive $200-400 pedal. If it's not in my TMP or AxeFx3, I probably don't need it. Don't get me wrong, there are still wishlist items for the TMP, but I believe Fender will get there in due time. There's so much hype around it for them to ditch the TMP. I want a synth (like Archetype Rabea with NeuralDSP) and a polyphonic virtual capo (Ability to detune without detuning).

  • @jumboscrimps6198

    @jumboscrimps6198

    Yep. I got them all. I sent the mission pedal back. I just didn’t like the feel but I found another solution. It’s so floppy at the tightest and latch is so noisy when not switching. Guess I’m use to my Jerry Cantrell Dunlop. Just my two strymons and 2 power supplies were $1000 and that was just a fraction of my board. JHS, Walrus, wampler, waza etc. Shit adds up real quick. But I digress, fender has supposedly made a 10 year commitment to the TMP. We will see if that’s true but I am sure you’ll see many of the things you and other people want in future firmware upgrades. But the waiting is the hardest part. I didn’t write that last line.

    I have been loading 48K files at 500ms and they seem to load and play fine, but does anyone know the range of files the TMP will support? Sometimes such devices will allow you to load almost anything and then just convert the file to the limits of what they support. So far, I have not found any Fender documentation that specifies the optimum file format.

It's straight forward on Mac, I currently don't have any experience with Ableton (I use Logic Pro) or Windows. I record my TMP tone on channel one and my dry signal for re-amping on channel 2. I just record 2 tracks per guitar track. Fun fact, you can actually re-amp with your Tone Master Pro, so it's smart to do it like this if you're an audiophile like me.

    Does this work well plugged in direct to monitors or only give amp in room feel through frfr cabs?

  • @damionandy

    @damionandy

    Ай бұрын

    That's actually an interesting question.. If you like the way it sounds, it'll sound equally good through your PA system. I'd like to compare this, but tbh, most of the time, if you just mic your amp, your amp in the room sound always sounds better than the amp sound coming through the PA, unless you just mic it crazy and some processing on the signal. The only thing I can think of that may hinder it is competing frequencies. You'll need to setup your preset and be mindful of the frequencies going through the PA system. I would probably cut the low end more aggressively, so you're not competing with the kick drum and bass. I'd say if you cut around 300hz and 5.6khz, you'd probably be good, but every PA system is different. Trust your ears and experiment.
