“Irreplaceable” & “Nearer, My God, to Thee” - Madilyn Paige
Accomplished singer Madilyn Paige performs her original song “Irreplaceable” and her rendition of “Nearer, My God, to Thee.”
Madilyn wrote “Irreplaceable” when she was just a sophomore in high school. The song reflects the feelings of insecurity and invisibility she was experiencing at the time. Now, after having performed on a nation-wide singing competition, Madilyn feels far from invisible. Her advice for aspiring performers is two-fold.
“Figure out who you are first-not just as an artist, but as a person,” she says, “because there are going to be a lot of voices and a lot of opinions that try to change you and tell you what they think you should be… and when you know who you are and what your values are… that’s such an important thing to have first.”
Second, confidence is key. Madilyn knows from experience that you gain more of it by trying what you’re afraid to do. The more often you perform, the more confident you’ll become.
“I still get a little nervous, but I’m mostly excited, and I used to not have that. I used to just get so nervous it was paralyzing. I promise, it works. You’ve just got to perform,” she urges.
Madilyn chose to sing “Nearer, My God, to Thee” because it makes her feel something each time she hears it. The lyrics serve as a sweet reminder that Heavenly Father is near us all the time.
“Something we all feel sometimes is that we’re alone, and we feel like God is always so far away. But He really is so close, and He’s always there for us,” she says.

“Nearer my God to Thee” was my favorite. Her voice is so clear and her rendition touched my heart. 😭❤️ Both of my parents have passed away and just listening to it helped me feel them nearer to me.

While I am aware, acutely, that in no way are mere words adequate, I'm sorry for your losses, and I extend my deepest, sincerest condolences to you. I hope you have a chance to reflect on this recently completed Easter season, and on the prospect it affords us of reunions with loved ones who have passed on. I know that it seems as though this is "cold comfort," and that such a reunion may seem that it couldn't possibly come soon enough, but it will come. I hope you hold onto that hope. Irreplaceable made my day! It really did. I needed to feel that I am important to God, and cannot be replaced. I am important in His eyes and in the eyes of others. I tend to overlook that in my overzealousness to please God. My focus becomes too much on the bad as I seek the good too rigidly and fervently. I have to come to trust others and God or I will be lost.

I was there at Time Out For Girls a few years ago when Madilyn Paige performed! I still have the cd you signed... that weekend was really big for me. I made my first good friends there, and it really was my first impression of the church. 💗

Great song Madilyn! I am old now but when I was young and in High School I never felt good enough and was sometimes bullied and picked on. It is a feeling that sucks but as you get older and believe in yourself and keep trying things can and usually do get better. Everyone is important and irreplaceable. God does have a plan for each of us I promise!

Been there, i understand the struggle. When i do get to go myself, i pray after sacrament is served and thank god for be given the opportunity to be in his meeting house. When i don’t get to go i pray to heavenly father and ask for the ability and opportunity to be in church.

I agree with you, this song is wonderful! For what it's worth it, from personal experience I really have learned that God absolutely loves us and for that reason alone we should always feel like we have one supporting us and one who always sees us as being irreplaceable. We will always have opportunities to improve, but God can direct us to truly becoming our best selves. Are you a member?
