Iron Man Hulkbuster Cosplay #12 | Bicep Details & Shoulder Bells | James Bruton

Part 12 of my giant Iron Man Hulkbuster inspired by Avengers Age Of Ultron, working on minor pieces so I can place the rest of the body panels.
In this series, I build a complete Iron Man Hulkbuster cosplay with animatronics and mechatronics with a step-by-step guide to cover everything you’ll need to build your very own suit. From 3D printing the parts to installing the mechanics that make this whole suit wearable and actually able to walk around.

I have to say, watching this suit come together has become one of the things i look forward to on a weekly basis. Even though i don't have much knowledge of engineering and design myself, i love seeing all the bits and pieces that go into it.

Hey James! For the "fake" pistons over the bungies and the stick, you should put bearings (sp?) between the larger pvc and the smaller pvc, and then attach the ends of the "piston" to the bungies or ends where the bungies meet the other parts of the suit. This way when the bungies stretch and contract, it will appear as though the pistons do as well, which will give the look of real pistons! That was just my thoughts so far, but otherwise this is proving to be an amazing build so far! I feel as though you're moving much faster these days, and I must say your building and designing is inspirational! One of these days I plan to become a patreon contributor and also join the discussion group. I have a star wars related project that would prove to be the only costume of its kind ever built that I can find anyways, and I would love to bounce ideas about the logistics and building and designing concept and see what you think! Keep up the great work! Also, sometime when you goto a convention you should get fake beard/mustache to make yourself look like Tony Stark ;-) -S

I actually appreciate these parts... It shows us, once again, how much work you have already put into that cosplay, which let's that series be even more interesting, fascinating and stunning. Thanks for sharing your great work. There's still one question which has been stuck in my mind for quite a time now: who tought you all this? How did you develop these planning and building skills? 'Cause I'd love if I was able to do that sort of stuff myself... but unfortunately, I seem to be everything but able to do so.

James, the detail content is not boring at all, in fact it is very helpful. What would alos be interesting would be if you could explain the process you go through when coming up with a specific part. Lots of these smaller items you print just seem to fit perfectly, but yet they have werd angles and things. Clearly there is alot of thought that goes into each, and it would be great to understand your thought process to get from nothing to a printed peice.

Honestly the video (for me at least) is more than entertaining enough! I love the whole design process of this, and all the little fiddly innovations you need to go through, not to mention seeing it all come together. The only downside is that it makes me want a 3D printer! Seriously though, you're doing a top job with this and it's something for me to look forward to every week, so keep it up!

If you mount them on free moving runners there is a small chance that it could fall into the arm, I'd suggest putting Velcro onto the joystick and Velcro on a glove so if you do let go it doesn't run away

As the top gets heavier would there be any way to add a few real hydrologic pistons at the waistline in a sort of x pattern like you would see under flight simulators. Not real pump driven ones but small ones like what they use on hatchback cars, lambo doors, and such where they move with you but also take some weight off your back.

Hi James, I would like to ask you one question. Since the Hulkbuster is so huge, there is a lot of space for all sorts of mechanisms. Have you considered a fully retracteble mask/helmet? Just like the ones of Ironmonger and Whippslash that would reveal your entire head, not just a face. If so, I have designed such a mask for my own suit I am "working" on so if you would be interested, i can show it to you. Anyway keep up the great work.
