This song is about the horrors of any war, by the example of the battle in Paschendale (Belgium) in WW1. "Blood is falling like the rain", "the sea of death it overflows". Never again should any war pay off for anybody.

Maybe my favorite of the songs since Bruce and Adrian’s return, Up the Irons.

Maiden is timeless. Happy to say I forget just how many times I have had the privilege of seeing them live in concert.

One of my favorite Iron Maiden songs and definitely underplayed.

Maiden was one of the best bands I've seen live... Best stage show, and the amount of energy they put out is incredible.

Up the Irons \m/ saw them in Buffalo N.Y. a couple years ago. Been a fan since the mid 80's. Murray rocks!

Aside from my bootlegs...which are many...they have over 7-8 live home videos and they learned well from my favorite band KISS, They took Maiden out on on Maiden's first tour of Europe summer 1980 and KISS really loved and kept in good contact with them over the years. The BEST bands live for music, show, entertain (KISS, IRON MAIDEN, WATAIN, W.A.S.P.)

Seen them live 10 times over the years. New album is stunning.

Thanks for the rection on this masterpiece! Besides the fact that Maiden is one of my favorite bands, how important to hear songs that raise concience on bad things that actually happened and that younger generations can also be aware of this, especially in times like the present. Hope you can do more Maiden songs. Keep going!

I absolutely agree. Very good comment. 👍 Especially by this song - which is about the dirtiness, cruelty and destructiveness of war - I hope that Iron Maiden can transport their messages of humanity much further than conventional school books and educational media can. Absolutely skilled and unique band.

Paschendale was the third battle of Ypres fought in 1917 250,000 British Soldiers deaths 400,000 German soldiers deaths . Some of the biggest body counts in human history . The biggest of course was Operation Barbarossa , Stalingrad , and Kursk , and the Siege of Leningrad, during World War Two . But World War One scored some horrific numbers .

Even have an Iron Maiden pinball machine in my living room :)

god they are so good man! this tour was my first maiden show. 9 more times since. they are so tight. great entertainers and full of energy. would have loved to have seen them back in the day. nothing compares to a maiden show. Iron Maiden is a way of life
