Iron Duke Kenworth Restoration Ep.6 Forever Tippin'

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

#IronDuke #twinsticks #twinstickgarage
Amazing how history repeats itself … so on this episode here I am again only weeks away from winter and I’m madly trying to get another truck blasted before freeze-up. I started off with trying to get the old leaky hydraulic system operational again, but it was almost as painful as messing with those Dayton wheels. After multiple line blowouts and a lot of troubleshooting, I finally raised the cab and got a good look at the 3406A Caterpillar engine underneath. I then continued to remove items that were in the way in preparation for the blasting (fuel tank, lines, etc). Finally, it’s ready to go and not a moment too soon with the blaster crew scheduled to come out next weekend.
Hope you enjoy the video and thanks for all the comments, suggestions, and support!
Keep in mind, I know a little about a lot but not an expert in anything … just doing the best I can, learning as I go ... I do all my own stunts
Enjoy watching the progress of this Kenworth K100 cabover project, a tribute to the one used in the movie High-Ballin’ with Jerry Reed, the ongoing Peterbilt 359 Little by Little restoration that started this channel and #ProjectSnowman a tribute truck to the one used in the 70’s trucking movie Smokey & the Bandit

You can actually filter that old fuel and blend it in a few gallons at a time with new fuel and use it. Those little triumphs like the broken fitting removal and on the fly hose repairs are sometimes what keeps a man going...

Was thinking same thing, fuel WAY too expensive to just pitch it. Mix it little at a time n use it in bobcat or tractor, consider it a minor stockpile for now.

You are living a dream of mine. I was a trucker for many years and grew up riding with my Dad in these Cabovers in the 70’s-early 80’s. Would love to own a cabover with car hauler to transport my classics around to car shows.

Race ramps makes a mat that you lay on to work on vehicles, you can pressure wash it when dirty . I am fifty and it has been the best money I ever spent , it sure is better than laying on plywood.

I work in Hydraulics and you capped the lock line and used easy out to remove broken fitting I would have done it that way as well. Nice work sir. Some more things I would tape off are the hyd pump itself and those hyd rams sand in or any dirt in the hyd system can mess up seals and make them cyls leak prematurely. Maybe you have plans to replace them tho. You might be able to find a hyd shop that can rebuild/reseal that lock but maybe it is too far gone. Enjoy your video’s keep up the good work sir.

I feel blessed with my 84' International 9670 It looked really rough when I bought it and was even told to trash it but, I carried on and didn't have to replace any hydraulic lines, connections or anything. I did have to rebuild my pump, as it was leaking a tad but that was easy peasy.... Mine has taken me in other directions and is always a build in progress. Love it! You sir, have a beauty there and I love the attitude you have in working on it. HOOAH!!!

That shop is a game changer. If you can get your frame sandblasted and get it inside working on the old girl will be a pleasure all winter. I am in the process of tearing down a house where I hope to build a new shop and living combination building there. My last trucks were outside at a remote location , so it was an hour drive and seemed to always be freezing or super hot...and so much dust from the quarry they were in.. As far as the hydraulic lines go, seems like just like the Duke when one blows and you repair it, it is followed by another, then another. I swear over the run of one summer I blew and replaced nearly ever line on an excavator I was running that year. Hang in there, things are coming right along, oh and by the way, that old fuel looks a little better than anything Peg runs on his rigs :-)

Good morning Mark, I've never drove to many cabovers in my career but I guess one of the reasons I didn't is the amount of trouble I had with lifting the cabs, but most of the time if used the right cuss words at the right time I could get them to lift. Great video see you on the next one.
