I completely rebuilt my '86 IROC Z28 to the way it should have come from GM in my mind. I used a 563 HP/567 ft lbs of torque 454 small block Chevy, .638 in. intake/.622 in. exhaust lift and 251° intake/259° exhaust duration @ .050 in. lift roller camshaft, Aluminum 64cc chambered heads with 2.08 intake/1.60 exhaust valves and 220cc intake/67cc exhaust runners, Edelbrock Super Victor Intake, 950 CFM Holley Double Pumper, MSD 6AL Digital Ignition, Doug’s Long Tube Headers, Dual Exhaust with Black Widow mufflers. For the transmission I used a PATC Level Three Raptor 700R4, with a 2600 RPM non lock out Stall Converter, B&M Megashifter. The rear end is a Strange Engineering S60, with S Trac posi, 3:73 gears, Strange Engineering chrome moly 35 spline axles and a Strange Engineering chrome moly drive shaft with 1350 U joints. It also has a Lakewood drive shaft loop just incase. The suspension is mostly stock, with the exception of a set of Lakewood drag shocks up front, BMR Lower Control Arms and Poly bushings; it has welded sub frame connectors as well. The front sway bar is removed for better weight transfer at the drag strip and I added a massive rear sway bar from Strange Engineering to help control the launch off the line.
