I'm really disappointed in this test. The first problem I had is that the phones weren't glitching in the beginning, it's the water droplets on the screen. If you had wiped the screens off after you took them out the water, you'd realize that the water doesn't effect them. Second, the audio issue in the iPhone 8 could be related to the water, but the iPhone's speakers in general are not that great, so comparing next to Samsung's audio, it just proves that even more. Keep in mind, i'm a OnePlus user so I'm not even a fan of either device (Samsung or Apple), but I know a terrible test when I see one.

1. Screen glitching cause the water on the screen is acting as touch feedback 2. Audio was not distorted just had water stuck in the hole just simply needs to be blown off 3. The phone should not have water inside. It’s rated ip67 and Samsung ip68. So not sure how it can be heavier

Seriously? The phones aren't, "glitching out" the touch capacitors in the phones just read water as fingers. Also, the sound difference could just be because iPhone speakers have never been good and Samsung speakers have been better (but are still bad because they are phone speakers after all).

Medo Nobody's saying that the touchscreen has to do with the sound. Whenever my phone gets wet in the shower, the touchscreen registers the water droplets as touch input so I cant peoperly use the touchscreen. Thats what happened here. The video said it was glitching, which was wrong

Just so you know the whole "glitching" is because conductive water is on the phone screen. If you're not aware touchscreen works off of conductivity. If anything conductive touches the screen it completes a circuit. That completed circuit is detected as a touch. (Yes your finger is conductive) So instead of fighting with the touch screen how about you wipe it off?

From Hawaii and here's what's missing in your test (we deal with this all the time) ... you mentioned that the phone broke a couple of hours after exposure to seawater. The thing is that these phones just sitting in the water is OK. But once you come out and they dry out, corrosion damage seems to show up. Most common is the charging contacts not working, or when you try to charge, the phone gets fried. Have had best luck with soaking "waterproof" stuff in fresh water afterwards before letting them dry out.

My Samsung Galaxy S8+ did fine in seawater (gulf coast of FL). It is rated to be fine for 30min in the water. You just have to dry it out before charging. They also say the speakers will often have distortion until dried out. Mine sounded perfectly fine after drying. There was no distortion using the Microphone to record while wet though.

Water resistant is different from water proof. Don't expect to go swimming in the ocean and for your phone to still work. Water-resistant: able to resist the penetration of water to some degree but not entirely. Waterproof: impervious to water.

You should’ve had controls. I.e. showed us the audio before they went into the water. Difficult to know if the water impacted the audio if we have no point of reference.

My man the major problem when it comes down to waterproof is the pressure effects so do I wanted to get a big tub or something like that and put it on the bottom, you could probably get another vid out
