finger scanner will not work unless it's the original one as the logic board has got a code that only works with the orignal touch ID with a chip. You'd need to send it to apple so they can fix it. Maybe they can made i new chip with the same code i really do not know. With a new Home button just know touch ID will not work that's normal

I get a touch ID failed error message every time I transfer over the home button to a new screen assembly. The bracket is in the correct position, but yet the fingerprint sensor won't activate. The home button will work, but not the touch feature. What could be the problem?

It is impossible to replace the home button assembly and preserve Touch ID function. The sensor is designed to be secure and it is uniquely paired with each CPU. so if your replacing a screen make sure you keep the home button .

The button can be changed out with out changing the cable. An easy, 4 minute job for the repair tech or DIY person.

For pople who wonder if u replace homebutton touch id will not work any more beacuse touch id is connected to the mother board

TouchID can only work with original Fingerprintsensor-circuit, it is tethered to the A7-processor. If you change the homebutton inclusiv flexcable, the TouchID cannot work anymore. Say thank you Apple, making the Iphone securesecuresecure, but you cannot repair it :'( The encrypted information can only be accessed by 1 original (binded) chip which can communicate with the A7 processor, it should be soldered right on the flexcable, I guess.

assholes. no wonder my I touchsensor no longer works after changing out the lower harness. That's almost infuriating for apple to do this because the charging port on mine was damaged, thus causing me to change it. What's interesting is that it doesn't even show it anymore on the general settings in the phone. Interesting.

Sadly, there are no video's out there doing it. There also isn't any tutorials for it. But the little ic (wich is soldered on the flex) contains the key wich is paired with the logicboard. This ic has to be transfered to your new one otherwise it will not work due invallid keys. If you got a heat gun, i would suggest you to buy 5 new touch id sensors and try removing the ic's without ripping the pads on the flex just for training. If you got one of very good without ripping the cable, you can get your original sensor and swap the ic. Sorry for my bad English:) for more help you are free to ask!

When i removed the connector that is in black and silver, it made my new sensor work. But if i did not remove it, my new sensor button would not work at all. My iphone couldn't read my fingerprint

If the cable gets changed it will not work. The button can be changed with out changing the button. If the cable gets changed, Apple can reprogram the new touch ID to the mother board. If Apple replaces the touch ID cable they will reprogram it to work on the iPhone. If you take an iPhone to them all ready repaired but needing the touch ID reprogramed, they may not work on it for you since they did not do the repair. Make sure the repair person knows what they are doing or take it to an Apple repair service center for the repair.

You are not very bright

My main concern with this video is the little metal piece you said had to go in place or the touch ID may not work properly. That little piece started off in a different orientation then you put it at the end of the video. And I can say from experience the position at the end of the video is not the correct position. If you are able to put that bracket in the position you have it in the video at the end, that means you have damaged the bracket and bent it to get it to sit that way.

Apple repair store can reprogram the new touch ID to the mother board chip.Only Apple repair centers have the software to do this.

Your sensor is never going to work since your sensor is unique and i is paired to your logic board so the only way to fix it is to buy a logic board for your 5s + the original touch id for it to get it work You cannot use a aftermarket touch id, altought it is very similar and profesional build it is not going to work since it is not paired with your logic board. Only way is to buy a new logic board with the touch id wich is paired to it but prepair to pay €230 for it ;)

Open up your phone and look at the connector. I reccomend you to take the home button out and put is in isopropyl alcohol for 24 hours. And if possible, take your motherboard out and put it in alcohol for 24 hours. It also could ve your logic board

Yes its paired with the cable from the button not with the physical homebutton. There is an smal chip on the cable witch contains the encryption

WOW... Reading through the comments, no wonder people are having problems with their finger scanner after following this guide. Its wrong! The bracket which gets screwed in with the finger scanner ribbon cable is being put in the wrong position, the bracket does not sit on the right hand side. They sit on the left and the clear metal tip hovers over the screw position. Look in the video at where you have just taken the original screen off, the bracket is sitting correctly but then when you refit the button to the new screen you have decided to make a new position up. Please don't follow this guide!!
