Unfortunately I installed another new button and it still does the same thing. Sometimes it presses on it's own, and sometimes it won't even react. What it might be? That actually means that it's not button fault, but something else?

The two screws on the home button plate won’t come off, the same screwdriver removed all the other screws but not those. Any tips?

Maybe a little late for a reply, but I had the exact same issue with my iPhone. I was using the cheap screwdriver that came in a set with the button and the screws wouldn’t budge. What I did was, I ordered an iFixit toolkit set called «Essential electronics» and the bit from that toolkit got these screws in an instant. So, although it might be a poor investment to be buying an entire toolkit worth $50 in order to fix such an old phone only, it did work wonders for me, as the screws on the home button assembly seem to be tightened extra hard, for some reason.

A bit late, but I’ll give it a shot. That tiny bracket that secures the ribbon-cable for the home button (the 3rd philips-head screw in the reassembly-process.) Is that one absolutely necessary? Cause I can’t seem to find that piece, and have no idea where to get a replacement part either. It’s that super tiny bracket you screw in to the bottom of the display-shield.

Yea it's the part that makes the home button work, without it the home button will just sink in and never come out unless you have it.

It's apple ID, every home button is unique to each iphone.

each home button is programmed by apple and when replacing it with an aftermarket button, you lose the touch id function. If you want to have your home button replaced and still want to use touch id, you will have to get in touch with apple and they will have to repair it for you which personally i think is a waste of money
