What temperature did you use to desolder the cable?

Is it worth doing I have an 8th gen a buddy of mine did and I knew he was gona do exactly what u did how much would it cost to repair the home button like u did he riped it the exact same way

Hot air for the win here, dont use irons if you can help it

So did it work? I feel like it might have been easier to just replace the actual chip instead of the flex.

@@TechMDKZread Oh nice! I like when these kind of "Lemme see if this works" ideas actually turn out. I've seen people just move the ID chips from one flex to another on iPhone display swaps, so I was wondering if this would have been easier to do here, but I think that without a mini pre-heater it's all kind of difficult.

As a professional refurbisher I can tell you that the fingerprint sensor home button is superfluous and not needed for security. A six digit passcode combined with an Apple password is actually more secure as well the Touch ID can accept up to 5 separate fingerprints…which is why Apple requires a passcode along with a stored fingerprint for security. Do why use a fingerprint at all? I’ve sold many 7th gen and later iPads with standard home buttons.

Sorry but home button flexes from prior to 7th gens will not work at all let alone when transplanted to a fingerprint sensor end home button. This is probably the reason the final test is never seen.
