iPad 7th Gen Screen Replacement! (10.2 inch iPad) Tutorial
Ғылым және технология
In depth iPad 7th gen screen replacement tutorial! In this video you'll see how to replacement the digitizer of your 10.2 inch iPad! It's much cheaper to replace the screen on your own, and hopefully this video will help you save some money! Let me know in the comments if you were able to follow along.
Please be aware - I made a mistake when transferring the home button, there is a bumper/part that needs to go on the new screen, so please don’t forget to transfer! Also, using a blow dryer is time consuming and is not nearly as good an option as purchasing a small heat wand/gun on Amazon. I would highly suggest doing so as it would’ve made the process much less messy. Thanks everyone!

May I ask, does the amount of damage matter? Is there a minimum of damage you must obtain to replace your screen?

If you would like the prosses to be a bit less messy you can put tape on the screen, this will also help the suction cup to stick is you screen is very badly cracked.

I’m a professional technician and have had my business open for a couple of years. Overall, I’ve been in this field for well over a decade. Shame on you other people that do repairs of this nature for a living or on the side. You did a good job man and your attitude towards the unnecessary negativity that others have posted, is very good as well. Those with the negativity posts are more than likely the type of person that has to always find out a way to “one up” another individual. I always encourage DIY’ers to take some time and challenge yourselves. This is definitely a good repair for that and the bottom line with this repair, as with all repairs is to TAKE YOUR TIME. You’re very detailed and a good friend of mine sent me this video or else I prolly wouldn’t have came across this video. Again, great job man. Keep up the good work.

Always wear nitrile gloves for this repair as the tiny glass shards can embed themselves in your fingertips. Another tip use clear packing tape to secure the glass before removing it - this way additional glass spitters wont fly across the room.

Just got mine in the mail today. kzread.infoUgkxhcEDB3r-OJ3_X5hQzr7k1ZofTQy1ao_U The corners of the box was a little smashed but I think that’s more of the shipping’s fault. iPad was in perfect condition though. I ordered the yellow one thinking it was going to be a bright vibrant color. Instead I looks like more of a Gold color. I personally prefer the gold look. Definitely not disappointed but just a heads up to the ones expecting a brighter cream of yellow.

I finished up on my iPad screen replacement today and it went so smooth thanks to your video! I had the exact same model as yours. The most difficult part was getting the old glass off, it was also the most time consuming. But a big thank you for this. This video was my favorite out of all of the ones I watched.

… Excellent video only thing I would add, based on my experience is that after you have cleaned the LCD surface or the screen surface with a alcohol wipe or whatever you used, the only thing I have ever tried that works every time, and works completely, (meaning, no matter what angle I look at it from I absolutely cannot see any streaks, swirls, or anything else on the surface) is to get the finest, highest quality microfiber cloth you can get your hands on, and fog the surface with your breath, and polish it with the microfiber… By definition, the moisture in your breath that condenses on the surface is distilled water in the strictest sense of the word, and polishing that dry with the microfiber cloth leaves absolutely nothing behind… This will work on a mirror or any other kind of glass, just be aware the cooler the surface, the more water will condense onto it.

Thanks for the video Affordable Tech. I tried my first iPad crack glass replacement yesterday and found it way harder than fixing phones. You gave some good tips about removing the mangled digitizer. People need to see videos where the glass is cracked because showing a tutorial on an intact screen isn't realistic. Well done.
Awesome tutorial David, thanks so much for the great information, and attention to detail, I was able to replace my screen successfully couldn’t have done it without you!! 🙏🙌👏🤩

Thank you for this guide, it was extremely frustrating process that took four hours to finish because everything was disconnecting every time I tried to put back the LCD screen and the wires would not connect until I got lucky after a few minutes. The screen I bought was from amazon was around 23$ and 9-12$ shipping being 35$ total. The part I reused from the broken screen were the home button. Don’t trust the adhesive that the screen provides if it does, I use super glue to attach the screen. This was extremely cheap repair but you pay with time repairing it. If you are terrible at this kind of repair work give it to a local store to repair it not a apple store, it saves lots of time.
My children have iPads, and Amazon kids tablets. They’ve had the iPads for 2.5 years both screens are cracked. Although they have Amazon tablets I find my autistic daughter enjoying the iPad better. The password, and apps process is less complicated. I will use your tips to fix them myself, and save $400+. I will let you know how it goes! Thank you so much!

Friend, thank you so much for this in-depth video - I was able to replace my nieces iPad and it didn't cost me but 25 bucks the price on the digitizer went down. thanks again for this. The only issue I had was the home button, I don't remember if the home button was actually a clickable button or if it was just the finger scanner. Thanks again.

Thanks. Even though I did a lousy job of following your advice my inept efforts made the iPad wake up and work. Miracle. You da man.
Thanks for the guide, managed to fix my iPad with your vid 👍
I found this video to be excellent. I thought the guidance was accurate that I could do it on my own. You have seen my other posts where I am having trouble getting mine to work properly. The digitizer does not respond. I get a small square like a text bubble with the slide button partly in that bubble and partly outside of it. Other times it appears as it should but I cannot slide to shut it down. I am at a loss now. So close and no success.
Thank you! Just had a successful repair with the help of your videos!
What a wonderful presentation. Your tutorial is very clear, precise and informative. I feel very confident following your instructions in my attempt to do this. Now I am so excited I can’t wait to start. Thank you for the great lesson. You should have taken a video of your brother’s expression when he saw his new screen. That would have been fun to watch! Once again, thank you so much from your white-haired fan😇.
Thanks for this video. I used it and a few others to know how to replace my screen. The worst part was removing the broken glass as it was pretty shattered. Glad to have a new crack free screen. My only issue was I broke the home button so I lost Touch ID. Will probably be getting a new iPad before too long so it’s not a huge deal for me. Thank you again.

After putting it together, the home button is a little suppressed. Kind of works if pressed multiple times but not right there. Also if I remove the glass now to fix the home button, will the adhesive be strong enough to snap again ? Any ideas how to fix the home button ? Thanks again
