iPad 7th Gen Screen Replacement! (10.2 inch iPad) Tutorial

Ғылым және технология

In depth iPad 7th gen screen replacement tutorial! In this video you'll see how to replacement the digitizer of your 10.2 inch iPad! It's much cheaper to replace the screen on your own, and hopefully this video will help you save some money! Let me know in the comments if you were able to follow along.
Please be aware - I made a mistake when transferring the home button, there is a bumper/part that needs to go on the new screen, so please don’t forget to transfer! Also, using a blow dryer is time consuming and is not nearly as good an option as purchasing a small heat wand/gun on Amazon. I would highly suggest doing so as it would’ve made the process much less messy. Thanks everyone!

If you would like the prosses to be a bit less messy you can put tape on the screen, this will also help the suction cup to stick is you screen is very badly cracked.

I’m a professional technician and have had my business open for a couple of years. Overall, I’ve been in this field for well over a decade. Shame on you other people that do repairs of this nature for a living or on the side. You did a good job man and your attitude towards the unnecessary negativity that others have posted, is very good as well. Those with the negativity posts are more than likely the type of person that has to always find out a way to “one up” another individual. I always encourage DIY’ers to take some time and challenge yourselves. This is definitely a good repair for that and the bottom line with this repair, as with all repairs is to TAKE YOUR TIME. You’re very detailed and a good friend of mine sent me this video or else I prolly wouldn’t have came across this video. Again, great job man. Keep up the good work.

Always wear nitrile gloves for this repair as the tiny glass shards can embed themselves in your fingertips. Another tip use clear packing tape to secure the glass before removing it - this way additional glass spitters wont fly across the room.

I ordered the yellow one thinking it was going to be a bright vibrant color. Instead I looks like more of a Gold color. I personally prefer the gold look. Definitely not disappointed but just a heads up to the ones expecting a brighter cream of yellow.

… Excellent video only thing I would add, based on my experience is that after you have cleaned the LCD surface or the screen surface with a alcohol wipe or whatever you used, the only thing I have ever tried that works every time, and works completely, (meaning, no matter what angle I look at it from I absolutely cannot see any streaks, swirls, or anything else on the surface) is to get the finest, highest quality microfiber cloth you can get your hands on, and fog the surface with your breath, and polish it with the microfiber… By definition, the moisture in your breath that condenses on the surface is distilled water in the strictest sense of the word, and polishing that dry with the microfiber cloth leaves absolutely nothing behind… This will work on a mirror or any other kind of glass, just be aware the cooler the surface, the more water will condense onto it.

Thank you for this guide, it was extremely frustrating process that took four hours to finish because everything was disconnecting every time I tried to put back the LCD screen and the wires would not connect until I got lucky after a few minutes. The screen I bought was from amazon was around 23$ and 9-12$ shipping being 35$ total. The part I reused from the broken screen were the home button. Don’t trust the adhesive that the screen provides if it does, I use super glue to attach the screen. This was extremely cheap repair but you pay with time repairing it. If you are terrible at this kind of repair work give it to a local store to repair it not a apple store, it saves lots of time.

My iPads screen is crackled u like the one you just repaired. Your amazing, but I think I will pay for repair for fear of forgetting where something goes, or losing a piece. Thank you for the instructions. You had a tiny piece of black rubber on your finger that made my mind see me losing it. 🙃

Thanks for the video, I have a question? I’ve taken my 7th gen iPad apart and have a new screen, have connected the screen and lcd as you instructed but when I go to turn on and test if touch screen is working my iPad glitches and different tabs open without me touching anything. Any idea how I can fix this back to normal? Maybe a bad digitizer? Thank you

You are awesome. Your video really helped me in replacing my cracked iPad (7th Gen) screen. I'm somewhat experienced in fixing electrical stuffs around the house - as a hobby. However, I never dared to attempt fixing this iPad of my wife that just slipped off kitchen counter and cracked, just a month after buying. I saw few other videos of how to do it but found yours to be most comprehensive in getting it done on my own. Wishing you a bright future my friend.

Gwinnett County of the great state of Georgia, we are suspending all your liberty privileges for the misuse of your library card! Just messing with you, good to see people still use the library! I’m about to replace the glass in an old iPad mini and a new battery in a iPad Air so watching your video gave me a boost of confidence! I think one of the best take aways is to take your time, Thanks 👍🇨🇦

Very useful video, it was on point and helpful to. Will you attempt to make a similar video for a MacBook as well in near future? I think that would be awesome and informative video for people who are on tight budget, yet need a MacBook for studies or editing.

Thank you so much! You saved me! I would just say I did have to rig the home button. Maybe more detail on that if possible but it was a success. This is by no means an easy repair. This is why they ask $200+ at a shop. The labor is tedious. You will need lots of patience. However, once in that mindset, this video was extremely helpful.

Thank you for this video. I used it to replace the screen. When i tested it before closing it back up everything worked. When I went to close it up it was not closing properly and the screen cracked. I opened it back up to see what was stopping it from closing and now the lcd has lines across it and is just a blank black and white screen. Is there anything I can try to remedy this or did I somehow destroy the lcd?

Thanks for the vid. I originally got my oldest son an iPad 7 gen. He cracked the LED and screen. Every since he's been using my iPad pro. I got a newer iPad pro and gave him the one he's constantly been using. My second born son been very interested in the IPad but I refuse to let him use my new one because i need it for school. Soooooooooooo. I decided I'm gonna repair the IPad gen 7 by myself. Im use to repairing laptop screens so this will be a new experience for me.

You need to remove all of the residual foam from around the edge of the LCD - if you don't, it will begin to dry and break apart resulting in complaints of "dust" effecting the display...
