Inzaghi and Inter: What next?
Спорт
Inter Milan are champions of Italy for the 20th time. The team played an exciting brand of attacking football and it’s no wonder Simone Inzaghi is now being linked to high-profile managerial jobs in England and abroad.
But is he better off staying in Italy and a resurgent Serie A? Or does uncertainty around finance and the ownership at Inter mean now is the time for a new challenge?

If it wasn’t for Marco Arnautovic’s shambolic finishing they’d still be in the UCL as well. It’s a shame this amazing team got knocked out so early.

Inter in this season had just two strikers. That was the only, huge, problem for the team.

@@carlossainz1863 couldn't agree more. this was the only issue that the management could not fix due to the transfers window deadline. they had to take "emergency actions" when lukaku's poor behavior came out, it was a miracle to sign arnautovic and sanchez i would say. what is 110% sure is that they would have never let dzeko leave and probably give him the 2 years renewal he was looking for

As a bayern fan it’s amazing how much better inter has gotten since we played them 2 years ago in the group stage. Insanely good team who are deserved winners!
"work in Conte's shadow" its more like piecing togheter the ruins left by Conte (financial difficulties thanks in part to insane spending for Conte), and Inzaghi just did that and even exceeded Conte performance in basically everything with much less. Let's not forget, in 2 years Conte won only the Serie A and collected slaps in europe and in the cups in general, while Inzaghi in 3 won 6 trophies and a Champions final with a weaker squad

The fact that Conte got away with being FOURTH in the UCL group stage with that insane squad, it's insane how little media attacks hil for that. I will never forget his horrendous management of Eriksen, one of the biggest Inter's what ifs in recent memory.

Conte is just an overrated prick and he managed to get dominated by PIOLI'S MILAN ffs
As an Inter fan for 40 years I can confirm this is, by far, the most beautiful and entertaining Inter side I ever seen, its style is absolutely great and a joy to watch (and is actually a better side than the winner of the treble in 2010, the Inter of the records (Inter dei record) from 1988-89 season side, and better than any of Mancini's sides at the 2000's that had won 5 titles in a row (sadly I was not alive to see 'La Grande Inter' from the 60's). This Inter side is also the most complete and competitive (Inter) team I ever watched, not only because possesses a strong and creative attack, but is also completed with an all-time great defense. Simone Inzaghi is a master. PS: For those who don't know the first ever assigned scudetto (national title) by the Italian Federation was assigned in 1906 to... A.C. Milan. For the rest, great interview, very balanced and informative, both are very well informed about italian football and is great to see acknowledging Inter is a massive club. Great insights about intensity in Italy due to defensive attention (Premier League is spectacular and it's the most attractive league so far but PL teams are, defensively speaking, horrendous). PS2: Simone Inzaghi is way a better coach than Antonio Conte, his 3-5-2 is more attractive, dangerous and better defensively (and more beautiful to watch) being at the same time waaay more competitive.
Another thing how amazing the management handle the transfers, every season we lost our key players but the management able to find their replacement and the team become better. Marrota masterclass

Absolutely not, at max its a Marotta mediocre job. For 1 good player there are 2 very questionable moves that could be avoided or made better with the bare minimum of analysis (plus after Conte he was trying to get Allegri, man that would have been a disaster like no other)

Finally someone that doesn't worship Marotta. If with "masterclass" you mean getting 35 year olds that get injured and, when they play, they play badly (this offseason alone: Arnautović, Sanchez and Cuadrado), often overpaying for them, then yeah, this truly is a masterclass.
27:43 💙 🖤 Thank you James for highlighting that.
Thanks as always to the The Athletic for giving all leagues fair coverage. 💙 🖤. Would James please list out the twelve big legacy clubs he identified? May be a future video 😉!
The quality of the podcast from non italian opiniost is INCREDIBLE.
Inter were unlucky in the Champions league to against Athletico. Should have won 3.0 in Milan, would have made a difference in the return leg,
Who cares about whether the title is handed? If that logic stands, Milan should not even be playing in the 06-07 Champions League, why we don't eliminate a champions league from them?
I have to admit that I don’t really bother watching the videos covering the big name Premier League clubs, but I really enjoy watching the ones covering smaller English and all-non English teams

In Prem if u look big clubs, there is two (if u rank them by silververe Liverpol and Utd). And u cant compere Inter, Milan, Juve with any other Eng club, they far biger, richer history, and far more leagu titles, i mean 36 Juve, 20 Inter, 19 Milan. That BIG three is anything but small. As a Inter fan I get props to all of Seria A clubs. And u cant tell me Arsenal, Man City, Chelsea, are biger clubs then this BIG three clubs from Seria A....
James Horncastle is by far the most competent and knowledgeable non-Italian journalist about Italian football
This guy not only has great football knowledge, he knows exactly the lore, the cultural contexts, the history of it all. Well done!
I can give you a feeling as an Italian Inter supporter: we will never let them forget this. Never. We'll make it worse than Istanbul v. Liverpool. We'll NEVER gonna let it go: we took the star from you, before you, in your house, beating you for the sixth time in a row. Also, Inter was not handed any scudetto in 2006. Inter finished first in the table and who finishes first wins, that's how it works. It finished first because other teams were dishonest, granted, but nothing was handed. It was the natural order of things.
Quality content 👌
Respect for the guest in the studio! The man actually knows Serie A & Italian football, which is why (& how), fairly well explaining the complete turn around of the "Italian style" of playing football for 180 degrees, from very defensive to EXTRA/ULTRA OFFENSIVE (for 10 years now), going back to the genesis of this new attacking style that started 10 years ago! And with it, I'm impressed that he mentioned one of those coaches (maybe the most deserved one, when it comes to ultra-offensive football, but always in the shadows), Gasperini! The man who also created this Atalanta that we have now, a team that took the place of Fiorentina in the company of the historic "7 Sisters", a coach who influenced so many coaches outside of Italy as well.....let alone in Italy.... and a few other men, that made Serie A becoming a league that's always in Top 3 when it comes to the Most Prolific Goal-Scoring leagues in Europe.... So, what I wanna say is, it's truly great when you go to a certain channel and you see that they have a guest, or a host, it doesn't matter.... WHO TRULY KNOWS THE SUBJECT OF THE CONVERSATION & EXPLAINS THINGS OBJECTIVELY, AND IN A MANNER SO THAT EVERYONE WILL UNDERSTAND. And that's exactly what we've had with this man, - Displayng the truth about what's really taking place - SERIE A IS COMING BACK WITH A NEW STYLE, THAT MAKES YOU FEEL HOW THEY EARN YOUR RESPECT AND making you feel (like it or not) that they are coming back with this new style of attacking football, that will start dominating European competitions again! They are already the 2nd best league in Europe after EPL, and once they start building the new stadiums (something that's starting to happen, FINALLY), Serie A will take the place it historically has, it belongs to Serie A! Forza Milan & Serie A!

Technical not 20, It paper 20th, remember 2006, were handed and basically all competition was elimated after by snatching up the best players from relegated teams and teams starting from minus the following season, win for 4 season and only manage to win one UCL. No one talks about it, but they were deep in the falcipoli which were caught, but then the case was too old.

They can only win by getting help from VAR, please see the stats from the beginning of the game. Mentally they got a boost from the beginning. They can not close when it counts. They are in big dept, and they are allowed to play. Technically this scudetto should be looked into, if they were allowed to play to start with

I would like Inzaghi at Chelsea, the squad profile suits him perfectly, and even more like an upgrade, he would succeed at Chelsea... Barella - Caicedo/Casadei (RCM) Calhanoglu - Enzo/James/Santos (CDM) Mkhitaryan - Angelo/Carney (LCM) Lautaro - Palmer/Nkunku (SS) Thuram - Jackson/Deivid (ST) Dimarco - Chilwell/ Moreira/Cucurella (LWB) Dumfries - Gusto/Sterling/Gilchrist (RWB) Bastoni - Colwill/Badiashile (LCB) De Vrij - Fofana/Chalobah (RCB) Acerbi - Silva/Disasi (CCB). Sommer - Petrovic/Sanchez (GK).
