Man Utd supporter here. I’m still Ten Hag in… at least through this season add probably the beginning of next season- as long as they clear out about five or six players (including one or two “untouchable” first trainers. But I am a big Frank admirer. I wouldn’t be happy if Liverpool got him. I think he’s class.

be honest with yourself. Would ten hag be good enough for the Liverpool job. Ignore rivalry, imagine there's no bad blood between United and Liverpool and all yourself if ten hag would be a good choice for a big club like Liverpool. the answer is quite obviously no, so why do you loyal ten hag cultists STILL think he's good enough to manage United. He's an absolute fraud. His second game in charge he got absolutely battered at brentford. He went on to spend hundreds of millions on his own players (usually from Netherlands) and we went to brentford at the weekend at got battered again. He's made absolutely no progress whatsoever. These performances just repeat themselves. He's an awful, awful manager and our fanbase clearly shows itself as delusional by clinging on to this fantasy that he's going to suddenly just develop some competence and be successful at United. let it go, he's a dud. Just because you wanted him to be the clubs saviour doesn't mean he is.

I'm tactically un convinced by de zerbi. His football looks pretty and entertaining. Yet it does get him into pretty naive and heavy pastings when he runs into managers who can counter it. For Frank in comparison, his team is always had to play against on whatever state you find it. He tends to beaten due to inferior resources. Rarely due toinferior approach.

  • @tholiunathi23

Why is this even a question? Is it because he didn't play for a big team or doesn't have a good PR team? It seems that there is a lack of respect for De Zerbi or perhaps a tendency to overlook his body of work. There are even suggestions that Thiago Motta is being considered for bigger jobs over De Zerbi. The prevalence of recency bias in these discussions is quite astonishing.

The clubs we laud now are just being thorough and professional in an industry that never has been before, they're not geniuses, their competition is just Steve Bruce or someone similar shouting "kick them lads!". I actually preferred those days, the football wasn't monotonous computer aided models but it's not a great achievement to be detail focused than managers who are down the pub! They'll be dozens of managers who can coach a well run club.. but it's personality that counts at the elite clubs, they have 30 coaches, they don't need a manager coaching... They need a big, strong character to run the club. Like we all knew Klopp would be a success! But there's not many around! Neither of these two are big enough to dominate a top top club in though. They'll be swallowed up and sacked.

  • @tomsmith3216

In a way I agree with your sentiment, but I then disagree with your conclusion. Frank has shown that he IS a big character, capable of moulding a team in his image MENTALLY, but being tactically flexible. de Zerbi has not changed anything about this Brighton team mentally, but he has changed them tactically. And are they actually better off for that? Or are they at a very similar level to where they were before he took over? Plus, most coaching is mental, not technical, and Frank has shown time and again an ability to see something in a player and then get that out of them. It's shown in players like Mbuemo or Norgaard, or Jensen - who has become one of the best midfielders in the league, insane when you think about it.
